The problem with trying to find cures for every disease is that we're in the long-term just replacing illness for some other problems. It's nature's way of keeping the population controlled, but we are wiping that factor out. As humans, we naturally want to "defeat death" or try to find cures to every disease, but overpopulation will still screw us over in the long-term, whether it be through starvation or something more sinister... It's deliciously ironic, no?

There will be no technological advances apart from the technology that the game period has. Time will also not really be a factor. It may be set around 1700 or so, but the time doesn't really progress. The only thing that really matters is strategy. We're also trying to find a game engine to play this on... something like Europa Universalis (except we can customize the names of our nations and personalize our banners a little bit). Likewise, I also have to agree with Archi. A break is needed, at least so we can work something out for the inevitable next game.

They have already proved they don't care about other schedules and will only release it when they feel its ready, not based on who is on "spring/summer break". True.. Very true. If it is as grand and complicated as they make it out to be, then delays can only be anticipated.

May seems likely, then. It's more toward the middle of the year, and it's when people start their Summer vacation from school.

Long time, no see. I doubt that the new skill will come anytime soon. It should come out during the Summer, though. It makes more sense to do so because it allows more people to enjoy and appreciate (slight sarcasm) the new skill. Being the end of March, Summer isn't too far away... We probably have about 3 months (assuming it is released during mid-Summer).

I second what Dusty has suggested. I think that it would be interesting if I played as the Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, but it is dangerous to do too much alternate history. It's what killed various ideas in the past. Unless of course we put minimal alternative history and just designate a person to decide what is and what is not idiotic. Also, if we do this, it would be imperative that it is based in Europe (i.e. you can only play as a European power). We could incorporate colonies into the mix just for the sake of conflict, but only European countries can be chosen as your nation. Also: Likewise, it would need to be set up like Europa Universalis where we manage resources and stuff.

As if other nations aren't aware of the fact that people from all over the world have been pouring into our nation since its birth?

That's why we need to abolish the "two-party" system and make it like the UK in terms of how the parties work. Of course, it's better to just abolish all factions and add an amendment to the Constitution stating that no one shall create a political party. Then, we can only vote for people rather than parties.

You may not have noticed before, but your government consists of power-hungry control-freak dictators. Even worse than ours. ;) Not to mention that your system is a living bastardization of communism, although I'm not a big fan of communism myself.

Now that the second incarnation of Hegemony is dead, what do we do? Should we go ahead and let someone create the inevitable 3rd incarnation, or should we just accept that Hegemony is dead and will never come back from the grave?

Unfortunately, it's only temporary. I feel sorry for those who live in Hong Kong whenever the "maintain their way of life for X amount of time" agreement between the former British Empire and the People's Republic of China expires. Kudos to Google for violating the Chinese government's demands and educating the Chinese people about Tienanmen Square by listing it as a result.
