  1. I miss running around in Lumbridge in circles because I didn't know how to leave the city and travel to Draynor Village in order to access the bank (and I had to use the Lumbridge Guide in order to find out this information about Draynor and the bank). I used to think that Lumbridge was a large city confined within huge walls with a large castle at its center and several communities lying on its outskirts. I remember being freaked out by the Lumbridge Cemetery because of the ghost in the mausoleum. I remember getting lost in Lumbridge Swamps (and indeed trying to find it!) and trying to find the Wizard's Tower. I remember taking an inefficient route to Varrock after being killed by White Knights in Falador. I remember literally going to the highest point in Varrock and feeling proud of myself. I remember the Christmas 2005 event and trying to sell a Christmas Bauble for an extortionate price in Zaff's Shop (top floor) to another player and thinking that I was clever and would get rich (little did I know that it was a so-called "not tradable" item!)... I remember a friend giving me a key to Edgeville Sewers in order to kill hill giants (and thinking that it was a top secret club on RuneScape). I remember delivering gifts to the man at the Member's Gate by dodging the guards because I thought they were aggressive. The Dwarven Mines and Dragon Slayer and the Rune Platebody were all huge achievements! So was the Mining Guild and level 60 woodcutting. I used to sell willow logs that I cut to the general store in order to make 3k a day. Then, I was hired by a higher level person in order to cut yew trees, and he would reward me for my efforts with runite items and other things. I was getting ripped off, but I didn't know that, and it made me appreciate the mithril/adamantite/runite items that I was getting paid with. He was also one of my first friends on RS. I remember meeting a friend after helping this stranger travel from south of Falador to Varrock (going through Draynor Manor). We used to make money by mining rune essence and selling our wares in World 1. He bought a set of gilded adamantite armor, and I was extremely jealous! I eventually saved up 400k and thought that I was set for the rest of my RuneScape career. I even managed to buy an adamantite(g) shield near Varrock Bank in world 1, and I was happy. I paid about 90k, I think. When I got members, I mailed my subscription and logged on with anticipation everyday for a few weeks until it finally arrived to England, and Jagex turned my membership on -- for the first time! I was giddy with excitement and quickly accessed the Member's Gate, explored every inch of Taverly, and learned about a new town called Catherby on my map. I remember feeling dismayed that I had to cross over the White Wolf Mountain in order to reach this city, but I made it (although I thought I would die)! I remember buying an amulet of glory as the first item I ever bought on a members' world because it was my favorite item that I read about in old Tip.it guides. I paid 140k for my first amulet of glory (they were worth that much then. Probably was 240k, I don't remember...) I was especially happy after the unexpected release of Construction.
  2. It's really just a stereotype. I'm not saying that no Viking grew a beard or grew long hair, but the majority of their warriors were actually rather young. They were also seafaring raiders, so the commercial image that we have of a Viking is incredibly inaccurate. Surprisingly, the Saxons weren't very different from the Vikings. They worshiped the same gods, shared a common culture, and had similar-looking equipment. (Although, I think that England was Christianized by the time of this mass execution. Christianization of the Vikings came later. )
  3. I think that they're just teaching you Japanese while using the Latin Alphabet because it's easier to learn the words that way. They probably intend to teach you Kanji after you master the language. I'm not trying to bring you down or anything, but I would have learned another European language first before I tried to tackle a completely different language family... Start off with something easy like French or Spanish and then progress to harder languages like German. It builds up confidence if you do it that way, but it's probably not even necessary to do what I just suggested. I don't really like the idea of learning a language from computer software, though. A flesh-and-blood teacher is much more effective, in my opinion. However, you should probably get a foreign teacher... In French 3, I have learned nothing; the teacher doesn't work with us, and the way that she teaches makes no sense. We have a Russian woman at school that sometimes substitutes our class, and she's fluent in French. She was much more helpful than our teacher, and she made a huge rant in front of the entire class about how it wasn't our fault that we learned nothing...that it was the teacher's fault because she wasn't competent. The textbook itself was garbage as well.
  4. That clown face would induce seizures, hehe. I have to admit, the flashing and the unexpected face both startled and made me feel confused for a little bit.
  5. Hook = 40M Werg (unf) = 10k * 1000 = 10M Uncut Onyx = 70M * 2 = 140M This is just the RSOF price and not necisarily the 'street' price, but it's usually half decent in terms of accuracy. Yeah, it should be about 200M street. I sold 200 wergali (unf) a few hours ago in world 2 for 20k each. By the way, how long should it be before the Royal Crown starts to crash and is buyable for a decent price (especially on Grand Exchange)? I know that the other royal items have crashed (although still not buyable over the GE), but the crown hasn't really done anything as far as I know.
  6. [This will probably be the last report that I ever make on this thread.] Texas has added a new program to their prisons system -- an alternate choice for death row inmates. Instead of getting a standard execution (firing squad or gallows), any WHITE MALE can choose to participate in the nationally-televised (and very popular) War Games. The War Games are re-enactments of wars such as the American Civil War or the American Revolution. Inmates are given uniforms and weapons (based on historical-accuracy) and live ammunition. Artillery is used as well, and chains can be attached to cannonballs in certain battles. If an inmate successfully survives at least 10 battles, they are released. However, if they commit a crime after receiving an "honorable discharge" from the Texan Penitentiary Network, the person will be immediately executed (often without trial). The Texan government is debating whether or not women and other races can participate in the War Games, but it is a deeply-divided issue. The Little League of Nations has placed a boycott against the Republic of Texas. The Republic is threatening to break the Treaty of Dallas and invade the long-disputed East Michigan region (which as part of the treaty was recognized as Columbian territory).
  7. *sigh* You always have to be a kill-joy when it comes to anything Nordic.
  8. I don't see your point? We're not arguing that racism doesn't occur; we're just stating the obvious. The majority of the claims of "racism" are either some other form of discrimination (i.e. ethnocentrism -- discrimination based on ethnicity, not race), ignorant claims that people are racist (i.e. Someone criticizes a black man for wearing his trousers around his ankles, and some bystander accuses the person of being racist.), or simple misunderstandings. Racism is defined as the belief that one's race is superior to another person's race. In today's society, people incorrectly use the term to refer to most kinds of discrimination, and it is also just used as a personal attack in order to discredit someone (and usually has no validity).
  9. Bah. In both countries, it's better to just limit immigration in order to help prevent the amount of families coming in. There will still be population problems later on, though. I guess that it wouldn't be a bad idea for some families in the UK and the United States to consider moving to Canada. EDIT: Also, imagine what the Western world would be like if the Black Death never happened! About 40-50% of the population of Europe perished during the period.
  10. Has the Crown shown any sign of crashing yet?
  11. Two things to add: -Obtain 300 QP for a Helmet of Trials -Get all 5 mask pieces in the Lumbridge Catacombs for the Mask of Dragith Nurn.
  12. Let's see... 1) I could have gotten laid.... 2) I could have had a job.... 3) I could have had a social life in 8th grade (12th grade now)... 4) I could have aced a few exams and maintained a near-4.0 GPA...
  13. To combat population, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to change our mindset concerning sexuality. In order to decrease the illegitimate births, it is necessary to place a social stigma on such people. Change the female mindset and limit their sexual freedom. Make premarital sex "an unspeakable taboo". Of course, this may seem backward, but it would certainly help the population if society's mindset worked this way once more. With that said, make abortion legal and strongly advocate the use of contraceptives. If the population needs to be bolstered in the future, outlaw abortion and discourage the use of contraceptives.
  14. Same. Mine fought for the US in the pacific, never got to hear the stories though. Mine had something to do with the US concentration camps built for the Japs. He told war stories, but I'm not sure how much he exaggerated. :P He died about four years ago.
  15. My grandfather would have probably liked to see this, but he's dead. Anyway, I would watch this if I had HBO. It looks like a very good show.
  16. That doesn't stop the Younguns from breedin' like rabbits.
  17. Why would you even need Communism? A Paternal Autocracy does just fine in that situation. Probably even better. Hell, a Republic would do just fine... Maybe a government like Heinlein's concept of a meritocracy (Starship Troopers) would be superior? Democracy is limited to those who have demonstrated that they are committed to doing what's truly best for Society and is thus limited to an elite few. However, anyone can gain the right to vote so long as they are willing to serve at least a two-year term doing dangerous work (military, etc.) "The noblest fate that a man can endure is to place his own mortal body between his loved home and war's desolation."

  19. What does the Mask of Dragith Nurn do?
  20. Last night, I dreamed that I was this Dam Engineer, and I designed a dam that had holes in it so that water would gush out like rapids so I could go kayaking down it (fail logic). I started to kayak down the largest dam that I ever built and the water current was too powerful, so I ended up dying in the end. I remember thinking "This is a really good idea!" until I started to face-plant off of my kayak into the strong rapids, then I thought "Oh [cabbage]. I'm dead." Interesting, no? Anyway, I have had several dreams recently, but I can't remember most of them that well. I do remember one because it was sensationally vivid (;)), but I think it would be too inappropriate to disclose in full detail. Let's just say that a lady friend of my father's (who doesn't exist in real life) decided to buy me a present for my 18th birthday, which happened to be a gift card to a business that was orientated like a spa, but it was a legal brothel (massage and [bleep]). I ended up getting this really gorgeous woman (who had her hair dyed blue for some reason), but after the business was over and done with, I was charged $2222 (which is a random fact that I remember for some reason) despite the gift voucher. I was angry and ended up suing the "Spa and [bleep]" business.
  21. We used to do that, except that we used foam swimming noodles instead of sticks. The swimming noodles were more fun to use since they were longer, didn't hurt, and didn't break when we hit someone.
  22. I remember that, apparently around 3 times in its existence, speaking could be heard from people. Apparently it's thought to be a military frequency or something. It sounds like it could be a military frequency, but I doubt that the Russian military would continue to use it since it's obviously leaked by now. They're not idiots, you know. I'll try to find a creepy story later (probably tomorrow). I think I found one that may be pretty creepy, but I'm not sure if a mod would freak out because it involves an old photograph (1800s) of a murdered person's corpse. It looks more like something out of a horror movie, though.
  23. No it wouldn't. We're talking about RACISM here. ;) --------------------------- To answer your question, no, I have never experienced racism against me (that I know of). I live in a white society, and I am a white man. The only "problem" in relation to racism that I have experienced would be the rampant political-correctness that runs through society where anyone can easily be labeled a racist. I have never harbored feelings of racial superiority, but I have been labeled a racist for criticizing black American "culture" because I believe that it is degenerative and displays lack of self-respect for themselves.
  24. Here's a list of things that I loved to do as a kid: -Boy Scouts (building those wooden cars and competing with them) -Playing Mario 64 -Going to my cousins' house and playing on the Super Nintendo with them -Legos -Visiting my childhood best friend in Colorado and playing with Legos and the Gamecube -Going to a skating rink in Fort Worth and having a birthday party there -Playing with Pokemon cards with teenagers and thinking I was cool because I made friends with "the older kids". When I lived in Texas, I would play outside a lot because we lived in the countryside. I would dig holes, mess around with stones and sticks, and destroy fire ant hills with waterguns. My elementary school was across the street (would have to walk through a field that was part of the school property in order to get there) and play something called "Pickle Ball" in the gym. It was like playing tennis with a bouncy ball across a shorter net (sort of hard to explain). We would also play Badminton. Let's not forget Field Day at school! That was a lot of fun. Instead of a normal school day, we would play athletic games involving 50-yard dashes, badminton, kickball, hula-hoop, basketball, waterballoon fights, and other things. As far as I'm aware, only elementary schools in Texas have these events. They were terribly fun. OH [cabbage]! Let's not forget Inventors' Fair (3rd grade) and Science Fair (4th grade). In third grade, I "invented" this gardening tool made out of PVC pipe for digging holes called the "Twist N Dig". It actually worked! (although barely) For the Science Fair, I did an easy experiment showing density (put honey, oil, and water in the same container and see which floats). Fun times. Oh, and in fourth grade, I had a crush on a girl in my class. She knew it and would tease me about it in order to get me to blush. Ironically, her friend was obsessed over me, although her friend was a Ginger (I was freaked out by red hair for some reason) and was obsessive (so I was creeped out).
