I used to play some ladder games with a clan I was in in Tribes 2 - however that was a good two years ago. Nothing really serious though, was just for the fun of it. But then my connection began to bugger up, and I never got back into it again.

Ah Tribes 2... probably had some of my finest gaming moments in that game. Air-duels with spinfusors ftw.

Basically a game that focuses/d more or less entirely on teamplay (for CTF matches anyway). A succesful setup: a few guys running around maintaining the base, which includes deploying turrets, as well as repairing them, the vehicle pad and most importantly the Generator (if the Generator was destroyed, turrets and vehicle pads would cease to work). The rest would basically just run around and defend in the middle or run bombattacks on the enemy's base in bomb-planes, and finally three or four people continually trying to cap the enemy flag.

Lots of fun.

I've never really played any games for an orgnized tournement, closest I could get is perhaps Guild Wars. (GvG's with my guild I founded, at one time placed 300 on the leadboard for the entire world).

Only regularly with poker tournaments and ladders. Now there's a good thrill :)

true, gambling on tnhings which aren't completely luck based is ultimate. poker is good but it is very luck based. Staking IRL and IRS owns.

I'm surprised no one listed Counterstrike.

Me and L33t_Hunter will hopefully go CAL-O next season, in a few months. Let's hope we actually practice till then =D

I wouldn't be so hasty. I'm at a playing level now where, I hope, I can eliminate luck from the game, by bluffing, reading opponents and so on. The other day, it didn't even matter if I was dealt a 7-2 OS, I was still winning pots.

I used to play in a freeroll tounry for a long time.

Then my friends and I made the jump and started playing at the casino.

We've gone back to the freeroll tourny a few times - and we've all ended up on the final table (usually 3 in the top 5) and most times one of us wins. This is usually out of around... 80-130 players.

The difference between freerollers and people who play for money is massive. Like literally massive. Once you can read people who buy in for 5K; reading people who haven't put money down is a piece of cake.

I admit that there is quite abit of skill in the phnyschology of it and readin and all but in getting your royal flush-i can't live on bluffing every time. ANything below full house is probably lost unless you bluff. BUt if someone calls your bluff and you've staked alot on it- i see that as losing by chance of the cards.

Another amusing story...

Last night went out for a game just at some [cabbage]ty pub match (wouldn't even call it a real tourny).

I picked up QQ - raised to 2,000 pre-flop (blinds were 300-600).

One guy calls.

Flop came out at:

9 5 Q

I checked, he but 600 - I raised to 2,000 again.

He calls

Turn was:

10

I checked again

He bet 600

I raised to 2000

He called.

River came out and it was

5

I bet 2000

He raised 4000.

I re-raised to push him all in

He called.

Dude had pocket 5's to give him quads :uhh:

Seriously? Only a complete donkey player calls a 2000 raise PRE-FLOP with pocket 5's. He was acting all smug about the win till even the director of the venue called him an idiot for playing that hand.

hnmmm well im still ntoo the worlds biggest fan of poker. I bet on poker but like playing games in which players start even, not with random cards.

I played in Enemydown league for my old clan on DoD aggges back, *sigh* the memories.

Whats enemydown? And yeah i feel *sigh* the memories for Timesplitters too. I only moved on because there were less and less tournaments and i knew there would be big tounraments on other games.
