April 7, 200719 yr So I rented the game again for the first time after two years and three days xD. I was confused when I played from my old file so I started a new one and I'm going down the dark path. Basically I'm just making this thread for any kind of discussion about KOTR II but I also wanted to ask a few questions to anyone who has played it. As I previously stated, I want to go down the dark path, so I've been picking dialogue that will help out with that, but when I do so, I lose influence with Kreia and Atton. Will this come back to bite me in the butt later, or is it okay? I want them to help me still but I also want dark points. What I REALLY want to know is when can I get my lightsaber? How long does it take to build one? I just got to Telos or whatever and I've been chilling in my room for a bit, so I'm not that far. Basically I want to know if I'll be able to get it soon considering there is only two more days until school starts up again for us. This game is pretty sweet. I'm considering buying it if I can find it for about $20/30. How is the replay-ability? After I beat it will I be able to start a new file and perhaps go down the light side? Also, is the first KOTR any good? I haven't heard much about it. EDIT: Being stuck on Telos is REALLLLLY annoying me... So are all of these load screens. Another question: Does getting light/dark side powers affect your alignment? April 7, 200719 yr You can be nice to them in conversation and not get Light points. You don't get Dark points for being mean to them either. Some conversations what you say will matter though, so save frequently. If you don't like the outcome, reload.
April 7, 200719 yr imo kotor2 is a must have, it does have replayability, as different genders, and light or dark will affect the game. It is hard to choose the dark side and still have atton's influence (I believe he can be a jedi later on if you have enough influence, although you don't really need him) It is also hard to have high influence with both kreia and atton, as you will learn kreia is kind of dark. Low influence has it's benefits aswell as high. A bit later in the game you will have other, stronger allies with you rather than the 2 you start off with. As for the lightsaber, you don't get it until a decent way into the game. I believe it is at the end of the planet after telos. Depending on how long you play, you could get it before school starts. kotor 1 is a great game, for when it was made. Now that you have played the second one the first won't seem that great, but if you like kotorII as much as I did, and can find the first one for a decent price then grab it.
April 7, 200719 yr Finished it so long ago, that I forget most of it. The only thing I remember was how off the story line was KOTOR 1, because I chose the light path in the first, but then the story was that you chose the dark in the first one? Still, it's a good game.
April 7, 200719 yr I don't remember when you get your lightsaber, but I remember very clearly that I loved KOTOR waaaay more than KOTOR II. Gamertag: King Arizona

April 7, 200719 yr Added a new question: Does getting light/dark side powers affect your alignment? it wil effect how much force power you will use. If you use a dark side power when you are aligned to the light it will use more power then it would if you ahere aligned to the dark side. PS. Get master force lighting (i think thats what its called) and master heal. www.PETAkillsanimals.com
April 7, 200719 yr Added a new question: Does getting light/dark side powers affect your alignment? You have it backwards, your alignment affects your powers. Rebel already explained it but let me give you an example (made up numbers). If you haven't got any light or dark points, or an equal amount to the point that you are neutral, a light side power would take 20MP and a dark side power of the same strength would take 20MP. If you then got some light side points putting you about 75% light 25% dark, the light side power would cost 15MP and the dark side power would cost 25MP. Likewise the neutral powers would cost say 15MP when you are completely neutral, but then you become 75%light/dark and 25%dark/light the neutral power would take 20MP. Those are all made up numbers, it might make a smaller difference or even a bigger difference, I haven't played in a while. Also if you are not opposed to using guides there are good ones on gamefaqs that will tell you what the outcomes of conversations will give you light/dark points wise.
April 7, 200719 yr Get master force lighting (i think thats what its called) and master heal. And I think force wave or whatever is dark. That's pretty much essential.
April 7, 200719 yr Both Kotor 1 and 2 are great games, but for me the replay value wasn't that good. I played once as light side and once as dark for both games, but then I didn't play them at all after that. When you get to the later levels in Kotor2, I found it was easier to play as a dark side character, because the chain lightning force power didn't cost too much energy or whatever it is. Couple that with the ability thingy that regenerates your mana and you can own multiple enemies with ease. I haven't really played the game in that long, but from what you say, you should get your lightsaber pretty quick from what I can remember. Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino
April 8, 200719 yr Author Actually Dusty, it did take me awhile to get the lightsaber. I think I've played at least 15-20 hours on this game and I just got it. Granted it took me forever to figure out how to get out of a few places, but wow I am so happy I finally got it. I kind of wish I got a single lightsaber because I wanted to get two of them but I just didn't know if you could or not. So I ended up getting a violet double-sided one. Quite awesome =P. Also Dusty, if you beat it with boy sides on KOTR 1 and 2, I'd say thats a pretty decent amount of replay-ability. Is the story pretty much the exact same if you do the other side, like I'll probably be bored if I do it right after this as a light side character? KOTOR 2 I think I have played 4 times, 3 of those times right after each other :P . KOTOR 1 I played at least 6 times, and I played 4 times right after each other there :D .

Lightside guardian is always the first thing I do, followed by Darkside guardian. After that I can't remember the exact combinations, I did do a neutral character once to see how well I could take advantage of using both dark and light force powers. I don't think it turned out as well as I hoped. The plot of the second takes place after the first. I won't say anything else. The storyline of the first was the best storyline in a game I ever played, so I don't want to spoil anything.
April 9, 200719 yr I played KOTOR, didn't finish, I played KOTOR II, still playing. I'm at the bit where I have to send 3 of my team to onderon. :(
April 18, 200719 yr Ive played KOTOR 1, and it was one of the greatest rpgs ever. I was gonna get KOTOR2, but....uh.....i forget why i didnt get it, but i didnt. Does anyone know if its playable on the 360, cuz my original is not connected anymore. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Gets a little laggy during intense combat but otherwise plays fine. www.PETAkillsanimals.com
April 24, 200719 yr Yeah master force lightning owns. Become Sith Lord and thats all you will ever use (besides force heal and your lightsabers for deflection). When fighting other jedi or sith i just run around then lightning, then wait for force to recharge then lightning then well u get the picture :D . I just started playing the first one again on my 360 this time and there's a significant difference. I get insanely choppy and laggy during intense lightsaber duels and fighting multiple targets. Also after a few hours of playing straight the dialogue audio will get really choppy and eventually all the ambience sounds cut out (footsteps, lightsabers, blasters). I'm guessing its just an overheating issue because ill turn off the xbox for a few hours and it will start working again. Other than that playing it the second time around is even funner than the first. Gamertag: King Arizona
May 2, 200719 yr Author I plan on buying both games for Xbox as soon as my AP exams are over as I don't have time to play them now. Am I the only one that can't stand the load times? Every time you go in or out of a new zone it takes like 15 seconds to load. It's a huge pain especially when you accidentally go into one. Ugh, I hate all of that loading. I guess you get that a lot with the somewhat older games. rocket: Why is it better the 2nd time around? You don't have to spend 30 minutes at parts trying to figure out where to go next when you get stuck or what? May 2, 200719 yr Yeah, mainly because I kinda rushed it before (hardly bothered with partys' background plots, killed Juhani, etc), and now im catching so many things I missed before. Im doing light side again though, ill save dark side for another inevitable repeat of the game. Gamertag: King Arizona
