April 8, 200719 yr If you see people complaining that money drains are not effective within the game, you must remember that they were also the ones complaining when we didn't have a money drain, and needed one, or after we got the money drain, and then they complained that we now had one. Now the following three suggestions are to combat the increasing GP within the game,; you may have seen some of these ideas elsewhere, however, there is one that has not been suggested in within the realm of this world. These include the addition of a new skill, a new cape, and even trimmed armor! Suggested Money Drain- Engineering Now, you may find this amusing that this is referring to the April Fool's Joke, however, Engineering could be another skill, if released properly, would have the intended money-drain effect. Here is a brief outline on how it may be. Intro- Engineering could be trained in a variety of ways, however, at first you have very little options. King Roald of Varrock can add another floor to his castle, a dungeon, whose entrance is located within the Varrock Library. Here is a level-by-level outline of the skill: Level-Description 1-At level one, you can read any book within RS, and by reading the entire thing, you get xp, ranging from 10-180, depending on the book you read. 10- You can use 6 regular planks on each other, while having 10 steel nails and a hammer in your inventory to make a barricade. 25- You can construct a small slingshot by using a plank on an anvil, while having either bowstring/sinew and a hammer in your inventory. It can fire small projectiles (arrows, brutal arrows, arrow shafts, knives, etc) 35- You can make an Enhanced Barricade by using 6 Oak Planks on each other, while having 15 mithril nails and a hammer in your inventory. 47- You can make a Super Barricade by using 7 teak planks on each other, while having 20 adamant nails and a hammer in your inventory. 50- You can make armor studs by using 5 bars of one type on an anvil, while having a hammer in your inventory. To attach it to the armor, you have to have the smithing level needed to make the armor. (Note: After attaching the studs, the armor becomes untradeable) 60-You can make a battering ram by using 5 regular, oak, and mahogany planks on an anvil, while having 50 mithril (or higher) nails, a hammer, and 10 maple logs in your inventory. 70- You can make an Ultra Barricade by using 7 mahogany planks on each other, while having 30 rune nails and a hammer in your inventory. 80- You can make a Catapult by using 20 mahogany planks on an anvil, while having a hammer, 50 adamant (or higher) nails, 4 magic tree roots, and 2 bowstring in your inventory. 90- You can make a Trebuchet by using 25 mahogany planks with 25 swamp tar, then using each of the combined products on each other to make a "Body of a Trebuchet." You must then use that on an anvil, while having a Rune Warhammer, 75 Rune nails, 7 bowstring, and 7 sinew in your inventory. 95- You are able to make a special device to attract all metallic objects on the ground to you. (Similar to Ava̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Attractor/Accumulator, however, this attracts everything ranging from metallic armor and weapons, to coins (because of gold) and arrows) 99- You can make a vessel that you can use to fish from out at sea, which enables you to get more fish than normal, due to less competition. The addition of this skill would benefit the players by allowing the use of barricades to help deter people chasing you, while siege engines would help in minigames. There would be more aspects to this skill, so all suggestions are welcome. The money drain aspect would be that to learn each capabilty, you must pay an NPC a fairly large sum of money so he can tech you how to make the object. THE CLOAK OF RICHES This cloak is a debated thing, and I, for one, suggest that it is implemented. It would cost a set amoung- preferably 10 million coins, with similar capes with costs of 100 million, 500 million, 1 billion, and 2 billion coins. The image below is a rendering of one of the current skill capes, with images of coins, and some status symbols upon it. The final version of the cape can look however you please, and remember, I am not great at editing pics :( . TRIMMED BARROWS ARMOR!!! The final money drain suggested would be trimmed barrows armor. Now, the question poppin ginto your mind would be, "How is this a money drain?" Well, this is how it would be: In order to get a trimmed set of barrows armor, you must get the ENTIRE set yourself, without purchasing it from another player. You must then take the set to Bob in Lumbridge. He is willing to trim the set with black armor fragments for the price of 5 million coins per piece. The added benefit of the trimmed version is that it decays with 20 hours of use instead of 15, and it also have 20 more defensive and 10 more offensive stats. Once trimmed black, you can take it to Thurgo the dwarf, who will trim it with gold for the price of 10 million coins a piece. The gold trimmed set has a benefit of decaying eevery 30 hours of use, and the entire set has its own special attack. This special would work through the use of the Special attack bar. Finally, you can take gold trimmed armor to Kolodoin in the Mage Arena in order for him to enchant it into the trim of your god. If you are wearing an item honoring Saradomin, (Such as a Holy Symbol) he will trim the set white. If you are wearing objects aligned to Zamorak, it will be trimmed red, and it would be trimmed green to honor Guthix. However, Kolodoin will only enchant and trim it if you have completed the Mage Arena Mini-quest, and you pay him 50 Million GP for the ENTIRE set. Once enchanted, the set will give a +20 Prayer bonus, along with 30 more defence and 20 more offence than the normal set. Also, it will decay once every 75 hours!!! Well, I guess that will be it for this mass suggestion, and I hope I can get your feedback to make this even better! (Note: I will try to get pictures of the trimmed barrows and alternate versions of the cape of riches, but I would appreciate feedback first.) i mean wth no1 cares about that weak noob that was scared of the great almighty lord ZAROS!
April 8, 200719 yr It is impossible to hold 2b gp (or 2b of any item) at one time or it would destabilize and drop
April 8, 200719 yr Author It is impossible to hold 2b gp (or 2b of any item) at one time or it would destabilize and drop In that, you are incorrect- You can have up to (2^31)-1 [2,147,483,647] of any one item, which is well above the 2 billion mark for the cape. i mean wth no1 cares about that weak noob that was scared of the great almighty lord ZAROS!

April 8, 200719 yr Woah, this is quite a big money drain. If people complain about how construction is a leech on your wallet, I don't want to imagine how this would react. Your barrows idea is a huge drain. Bigger than the cape is.
April 8, 200719 yr 3 easier ways to drain money 1. Construction Updates 2. More Construction Updates 3. A Few More Construction Updates
April 8, 200719 yr Fantastic idea. I completely support. Not only is it good because it is a much needed money drain, but also the ideas are very good, especially for the trimmed barrows armor, which would be really cool (the special attacks for it would be interesting!). I support 100%, fantastic. :ohnoes:My Guide on Obby Mauling!
April 9, 200719 yr Author The Barrows idea is a drain (just like construction!), although I do have to say, it will be limited to the super-rich. Let's look at it this way- A Level 109 goes to barrows for the pieces. Eleven trips later, he gets his first Ahrim's hood. Twnty more trips later, he gets a Guthan's spear. Another 50 trips yield a Dharock's Axe, a Verac's Brassard, and Ahrim's Staff. Just getting the pieces would take at LEAST 100 trips (if you're lucky). The time consumed would be TREMENDOUS. Now that he got his full Ahrim's the Level 110 (because of the exp he got) happily waddles over to Bob. He pays the 20 million coins to have trimmed. Now, he goes over to Thurgo to have is trimmed again for an additional 40 mil. He suddenly goes to Kolodoin, and pays his 50 Mil to have it enchanted. So that's a total of: 20 million+40 million+50 million= 110 MILLION GP DRAINED!!! This money goes to an NPC, and not a Phat merchanter....so it's out of the economy....for good! i mean wth no1 cares about that weak noob that was scared of the great almighty lord ZAROS!
April 9, 200719 yr ye i know you think this is a good idea but it isn't no one in their right mind would waste 2 billion on a cape....maybe if you got the cape when you show the certain npc 2 billion and it costs say 20 mil or something, thats still a significant money drain without going into bizarre obscure and ridiculous territories, as for the barrows just no...nobody would pay 120m for an armour that gives so little advantage (don't say 3rd age you can resell that) the only way you'd make it implementable would be if it was tradeable, which would, however, make the price rise to massive proportions doing the opposite of what you want as for engineering...too spread out...read books to get to level 10?? thats a lot of books.... Sig by me....
April 9, 200719 yr guys stop whining at the person because he/she didn't refine it to your utmost standards. i for one, thinks its a good idea because of engineering, although would the trebuchet and catapult be like the cannon except you have to aim it yourself? i like the barrows alot because a long while ago i had an idea for upgraded barrows. my idea was that a master smith would find some type of new ore *be warned! spoilers* in the nearby area that he believes might be what they made barrows with. so what you have to do for him is go mine some daelyt ore from meyriditch, 20 ores, 5 per peice, and then get a rune chain, rune legs and a rune med helm.. he would then take the ores, and the rune pieces, and the barrows pieces and smith them together. it'd be 1mil per piece also. the stats of each piece that you got upgraded would then be boosted by 15.
April 9, 200719 yr Engineering is just a bunch of possible add-ons to fletching, smithing and construction. The cape might be a good idea, but you should automatically be able get one if you have 1 billion of anything in your bank, and it costs 3 mil to get. Trimmed Barrows could be convincing, but stat raises of only +5 for all defence for each advance and god trimmed gives you +10. Also, each advance should only add +5 hours of usage, but more expensive to fix. The fully-upgraded set should not have a special attack, just a boosted set effect. Add photos to prove you can make them look really good. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience.
April 10, 200719 yr Unrealistic. Jagex does it more subtly, they wont suddenly put things into the game that'd drain 110mil practically directly from a player at once. Runescaper since June 2005Blog
April 10, 200719 yr wow i used to think i was the only crazy guy who saw the need for taking away money from the economy, or as u call it money draining( i like that better) only dif. is that u thought way beyond me on this, the only big way i could think of was jagex just creating players and secretly creating and selling rares and just throwin away that cash -or having like pk pots or something, 5k per pot only buyable and cannot be created, untradeable and only obtainable if u kill sum1 with ithem then u get however many he had, it would vary from healing full health, healting half health, auto restore all stats and about ur methods, having that many differnt cape of richness things wouldnt work, ppl woudlnt get the 10 and 100 mil ones knowing ppl have 1B ones, it would be discouraging, so just have 10mil ones, that way ppl wont be too scared of losing them either, cuz 100 mil is quite a bit for a cape, 10 mil is somewhat replacable -also about the trimmed barrows, its a bit extreme, u should probably have 1mil repairs and maybe just have the looks and extended usage, cuz at 5 mil or so, it could really be a huge decision wheter or not to get it as it is temporary, try asking ppl and they wud probly say 5 mil wouldnt be worth something temporary, even if it has that 5 extra hours u also have to think about where they get supplies from, i didnt entirely read ur engineering as im not as interested in p2p stuff but, if other players can obtain them, then theres no money being drained, supplies should be very difficult to obtain and also buyable from an expensive store wow love this thread, hope it follows through and jagex actually considers it! pure:demon_x_king
April 16, 200719 yr Nice Pictures and idea, but never going to happen. danke Schon Sam!^^"Blood runs thicker, oh were thick as thieves you know"-Carl Barât
April 17, 200719 yr Here's some ideas, as yet unseen on RS. And I bet this should stir up some ill feeling too... :D  INCOME TAX (muhahahaha) - your monthly/weekly profits taxed, and you get it taken out of the bank, or get billed. Value Added Tax on all trades over 10k at 15%. Property taxation for player owned houses - again, monthly/weekly tax depending on how many rooms you have, etc. Monthly renewable slayer licences - just like you get hassled by your servant for wages, your slayer master starts to charge for his/her services (amount depending on slayer master). Don't bother flaming me about this, I know these ideas suck. =; Don't follow me. You might not make it.All your accounts are belong to us now.If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator
April 17, 200719 yr although people ar ebeing harsh on you the some ideas need some real changing like because the fact is you wouldnt spend your time on a cape that just takes your money, no resale value, no way to get money back and 2 billion wasted for a cape!! i think the cape idea is a no goer but the barrows would be ok because people pay anything to get the BEST discuss a combat reformation
