Ok, Im thinking about getting World of Warcraft tomorrow, i was just thinking if its going to be too complicated to get started or my computer will mess up really bad from it not being powerfull enough, i wont be getting Burning Crusades as i dont have enough money *lol*.

 

I was thinking of being a mage but im not sure how the whole system works, could someone please give me some info and if 1gb ram and 125gig memory would be enough to run it.

 

Also people say its quite hard to get started from scratch, is this true. im completely clueless =\ any input will help, and please dont call me an idiot or anything because im only 13 and ive explained as much i can. Thanks

As for the start, it is probably one of the easist games to start. Ever. Just dont be one of those people that go "OMGZOR, all these buttons are complicated". Its really easy. You click the thing you want to attack, and you push a button or two. Simple.

 

 

 

I would suggest you be an alliance, as horde sucks arse. If your alliance, and want to be a mage, play as either a human or a gnome (they are the only ones that can be mages).

 

 

 

And play on a pvp server.

If your are coming from Runescape, then yes, there is gonna be a big difference in the ui. But remember this, its more keybased, rather then ui based.

All I recommend you do (if you get WoW) is approach the game like you haven't played RuneScape or any other MMO before. I've 'converted' a few friends to WoW but I haven't had any luck with some, only because they are so used to RuneScape or another MMO that when I describe WoW, they say, "Why is XXXX like that?!?! In RuneScape, it is...". You simply cannot compare two games that way; you either like it after playing it, or don't. So just have an open mind and realize that the game is COMPLETELY different from RuneScape. I saw a post where someone was grinding up levels in the starting zone - nuh-uh, do quests!

 

 

 

Take the time to learn the game, explore the zones, and just have fun. There's all this pressure on new users to learn the game quickly and reach the highest level. If you find that fun, go ahead - but otherwise, take it slow and go at your own pace. Play the race/class/character you want to play and experiment a little. Don't let other people's pressures force you to do something you don't want to do; let that happen at END-game. :lol:

Make yourself useful during that 2-4 hour initial downloading and patching and read a bit of the game manual. I browsed through it a bit while i was downloading and it really did help me understand some more of the game mechanics (though the WoW website does a great enough job in itself).

 

 

 

If you're having trouble picking a class, race, profession, whatever, I highly suggest browsing WoWWiki. It's got a lot of great info on the classes and how to choose what class you want.

Humans - stealth detection, excellent for beating rouges.

 

Gnomes - +Int, no good for a mage, get out of your PvP way of thinking. If blink is on cooldown and some melee class is beating me to bts I'm happy for my Escape Artist.

I think horde mages may have slightly better racials, but not to make them dominant over ally mages.

Korla, you've also got to take into account the Blood Elf mages. Their prominent racial is the Mana Tap/Arcane Torrent. I haven't leveled a BE mage far but the ability is pretty decent for fighting another mage class and getting their mana shot down a bit, and if you're arcane torrent is charged you can get some emergency mana if you're in a pinch.

I'd just like to comment this concerning my negative thought of cannibalism. That was coming from a mage. Who can conjure food. And has to drink water more than he has to eat food. (I was frost spec, but I think even the most HP/Spell dmg-heavy fire mage needs more mana than hp after a fight.) So cannibalize is basically only used within fights for a mage.

Yes, having no life is so cool and funny.

My advice -

 

 

 

Look through the Wow-europe site at the races, classes and the professions.

 

 

 

If you like to do a lot of PvP then go horde. Firstly because they have better pvp racials(so people say..) and secondly, they win battlegrounds 99% of the time.

 

 

 

For starting out i would go for a hunter as it is a nice easy class to play... especially when you get your pet, you can solo quests that people your level cant.

Don't bother with the expansion when you're first starting out. When you buy the game you will get a month free of play.

I resent that! I picked nelf cos it sounded 1337! not cos it looked 1337!

 

 

 

in general... yeah horde is better for maturity.. but i roll alliance cos i like it more and i wanted to get a priest to lvl 70. Nelf being the hardest preist class to roll.. i wanted the most challenge.
