The Best Money Making Skill

I wanted to know which skill brought in the most money from training 1-99.

So i decided to do some math to see what skill would be most profitable

Hunter

The only real money making in hunter comes at lvl 63, so I figured I would catch red chinchompas for 63-99

LVLS ----- EXP -------# of Item ---- Price Per Item------ Total Cash

63-99___12.67M____47.8K_______700 gp_________33.46M

RuneCrafting

Runecrafting was a bit more complicated, i decided that I would do lvl as shown here:

1-11 Airs

11-22 Airs 2x

22-27 Airs 3x

27-44 Cosmics

44-91 Natures

91-99 Natures 2x

LVLS ----- EXP -------# of Item ---- Price Per Item------ Total Cash

1-11____1358_______272________18gp__________4.9k

11-22___4266_______1706_______18gp__________30.7k

22-27___4106_______2464_______18gp__________44.3k

27-44___45919______5740_______150gp_________861k

44-91___5.85M______650k_______210gp_________136M

91-99___7.13M______1.58M______255gp_________404.1M :ohnoes:

NOTE:

This table uses the following prices-

Airs = 18ea

Cosmics = 150ea

Natures = 300ea

*From lvl 44-99 you buy you pure ess for 90 gp each*

*This does not include any expenses such as glories etc, just the essence*

RuneCrafting Total = 541.1M \'

Fishing

Assuming you start fishing for money at lvl 40, and sell your fish raw.

40-76 Lobsters

76-99 Sharks

LVLS ----- EXP -------# of Item ---- Price Per Item------ Total Cash

40-76___1.3M______14.4k________220gp_________3.2M

76-99___11.7M_____106.3k_______900gp_________95.7M

Not bad, fishing comes in with a total of 98.9M

Mining

Well, mining has 2 possible paths, the coal path and the iron path

Iron Path

LVLS ----- EXP -------# of Item ---- Price Per Item------ Total Cash

15-99___13M______372K________100gp_________37.2M

Coal Path

LVLS ----- EXP -------# of Item ---- Price Per Item------ Total Cash

15-30____11k______313________100gp_________31k

30-99____13M______260.4k_____200gp_________52M

So the coal path wins and mining racks up a total of 52M.

WoodCutting

I chose the following trees to cut for the appropriate lvls.

30-45 Willows

45-60 Maples

60-80 Yews

80-99 Magics

LVLS ----- EXP -------# of Item ---- Price Per Item------ Total Cash

30-45____48k______714_________20gp__________14k

45-60____212k_____2122________75gp__________159K

60-80____1.7M_____9.8k________300gp__________2.9M

80-99____11M______44k_________1k____________44.1M

Woodcutting comes in at about 47.2M

Current Rankings:

1. Runecrafting

2. Fishing

3. Mining

4. Woodcutting

5. Hunter

Skills in Progress:(i would like some help on these)

Fletching

Thieving

Combat

Well is runecrafting really the best money making skill in the game, or are these figures misleading?

Your calculations are misleading. You provide the total amount of money required to get to level 99, but didn't mention that some skills take much longer to get to 99 then others, and therefore the hourly profit is much less than what would seem from your calculations.

A level 91 thief can get ~180k/hr exp in pyramid... Can't do that with runecrafting, and can't even get close unless you have a ton of runners whom you pay (and thus lower your profit).

Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?

runecrafting wins of course although the like the set up, wish it were more accurate though

Profit by the hour is a better way of saying which is better for money. You can get over 25M hunt exp from red chinchompas than you can from getting 13M exp in fishing sharks, wc'ing mages, or mining coal

What?

lvl 91 runecrafter can get 300k-400k an hour with 2x nature runes if they just use the abyss

try 1 mill

these are very arbitrary. Cannot be used to determine the best moneymaking skill since there are some very good methods that don't do much for exp.

They are also quite misleading as there is no time frame included.

76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007

379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007

70K RC exp in a day...

But yeah I'm pretty sure RC gets the most money/hour out of all the skills. Especially from 91-99.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

runecrafting gives the best money per xp and the best money from 1-99, but it is also one of the slowest xp in the game. i can cut 400 magic logs in an hour, i'm lvl 75 wc and have a rune axe. that's 400k an hour, plus wc is one of the easiest skills to train, if you don't count buying your way into buyable skills. meanwhile, runecrafting will take much much longer to get to the point where you make 400k an hour, plus the fact that you are at a constant risk of losing your glory to abyssal monsters. if you loook at it this way, the fastest xp in runecrafting is death runes. lets say you bring the 2 lowest pouches. that's 350 xp per load, anywhere. if you use the abyss, you can get a load every minute. so that's 350 xp a minute, and 350*60= 21k xp an hour. if you no life, you play about 6 hours a day, so that's 126k xp per day. of course, deaths sell for 300ea so that's 3.78 mil a day, 30gp per 1 xp. meanwhile wc gets you 1k per log, and about 4 logs per minute which turns into 4k and 1k xp. as you can see, that's a little less than triple the xp per minute and 2/5 of the cash. these statistics are not made up they are from my experience so please don't flame me for making up false statistics.

no no and again no merchating all the way if you play this game for money(I wouldn't adivce that) If you play for fun just do all the skils little by little, if you play for ranks do skils 1 by 1 and that is it ;)

see that is where you're wrong. merchanting is basically a casino with much better odds than real life. it doesn't guarentee money, but it can deliver more than what you invested in it. but skills guarentee money, there will never be a time when you have to pay someone to take items you get skilling off your hands, it's pure profit, unless you buy but you're still guarenteed profit then.

Hmmm well what about high alching. That is part of magic skill and you can make tons of money if you make your own supplies. Just a thought.
High alching takes the combination of other skills so it's not just 1 skill to make money. Without runecrafting, woodcutting, and fletching high alching is nothing.

Merchating is not a casino if it is done right. But right now merchating is not a good bussines reason: To many guides and the concurence is to big. I can give you an example: aprox 6-8 months ago i was buing rannar seeds from players at 10k ea and selling them on forums at 25k i could make 10 mil in less then a day. But now almoust everywere you go and you see a place that is crowded : " Buing all rannars 10k-20k ea". So i guess you are right in a way.

if this was 2 years ago when i was on my old account, i wouldn't have written that. but now so many people know about merchanting, that it's hard to get as good prices as you used to. i never have merchanted and never will, but i know this because i spend a lot of time in bnks not afk

Not practical, but I'd like to say mining rune from 85-99 would win. \'

well, the per hour aspect is as dependant on luck as merchanting is, but in terms of lvling with it, rcing would win unlesss you made bars out of it.
