An affordable way to get 99 magic?

Featured Replies

This skill looks like a cool 99 to have...

But my problem is the price of runes and such, On average I make 200k-500k an hour. (I craft/run nats)

I was thinking of either just not selling my nats and just alching stuff instead, or I could just skip that altogether and play PC with melee and ancients*. The latter skips runecrafting but I'm not sure if it would be faster overall...

Which is better?

*= I would use the money I get from the games to buy more death/chaos runes for bursting. I would melee mostly and break out the bursts if I can't reach a spinner or see 5+ monsters in my burst range.

im going for 99 with lv 6 enchant at the MTA, faster than alching, and better exp, but im not sure about your price range, but i found it pretty cheap for only about 12m for 99, if you want the cheapest, ancients at pc is best

If you want the absolute cheapest buy a mud staff and tons of bodies and keep casting curse over...and over...and over...*falls asleep*.

Pest Control - gain some money at the same time.

id high alch:

method 1

buy x amount of nats, firestaff, yew longsbows

if you buy nats for 300 ea and bows for 500 ea you lose 12 gp per bow or

method 2

get 70 fletching and 44 rc

buy x yews and p ess and a fire staff and x bs

buying yews for 310 ea and p ess 90-100 ea and bs 180 ea

you spend 480-490 loosing 2-4 gp per bow

playing PC is just gonna make u spend more cuz ur using up all ur runes. i say make nats and high alch. you dont spend anything and its reasonably fast to get to lvl 99

good luck

no no, you play pest control melee and use the points in exchange for magic exp.

best way, pest control. like others have said you actually will gain money.

If you really want cheap... curse. It takes forever, but barely costs anything.

The main problem with magic is that you can't train it without costing anything (Besides PC). The Mage Training Arena is the one place that you can actually profit by training Magic. I highly suggest it unless you get bored fast. :|

I checked and if I PC I'll have 97-98 strength when all is said and done. With alchemy (If I fletch all my bows) I'll have 99 fletching.

I think I'm going to to with PC because its faster, less boring, and high strength will go well with 99 magic. Honestly, I see no reason to raise fletching past 90 unless you're going for the cape. (I'll never go for a fletching cape because it's to easy).

On the other hand, I'll end up with over 100m from high alchemy... But that'll take years....

Can you do Ice burst and blood? If you can I think you should go to the skeletons on Ape Atoll and pray, Ice Burst, then blood to heal yourself.

I would loose soooooooo much money doing that considering monkeys have no good drops.

Plus it would be safer to do that at the gnome battlefield.

True. I forgot about that place.

If you got money to waste, go ahead and burst your way up. If not, alching is good, but, I NEVER do it, as I hate buying stuff (merchy noobs) and it takes a while.

99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th

Cheapest is buy mudstaff and bodies and cast Stun (I think that is it) over and over.

Let me try to elaborate on the PC a bit more....

I can buy Chaos Runes from the Void Knights for 105 each, I can buy deaths for 225 each. Thats 870 gp per cast. I get 820 gp per game. That means ever 2 games I can buy enough runes for one burst spell. (When I get 87 combat I can use one burst per game and break even. That'll be some great xp) I will save this burst spell for when I can hit more than 5 monsters. I will melee ALL OTHER TIMES.

Thats no loss, but no gain (Other than great xp).

Try the Poor Man's Guide To 99 Mage. Heres the quick find code for the official forums: 22-23-141-37980249

range: 64/80/80

mage: 61/84/82

atk: 46/77/60

Yea, I've read that before. But I hate the mage training area, plus I'd wind up just keeping the infinity items (They look so cool!).

Take those ice runes and come pc with me!

2 very cost-effective ways to train magic are steel dragons and barrows, both using magic dart. Barrows will make you quite a bit of money off the barrows drops, and you will constantly get replacement runes for magic dart. Steel dragons drop a lot of random rune stuff that alchs for a good amount, as well as a decent amount of bloods. You will also get some level 3 clues, and if you do a lot of them, like 10k+ magic darts, you have a good chance of making back what you spent on the runes from dragon drops. And there's always the chance you'll get a visage.

Barrows you could easily do at your level. You might want to wait until you get to 90 magic before you try to mage steels, and make sure to use ahrim's, or you will never hit. Barrows is slow exp because you spend a lot of time not killing stuff with magic, although you will make a significant profit off of it. Steels are iffy, and you could end up with no dragon drops for your trouble and lose money, though you can minimize the chances of coming away emptyhanded by buying a LOT of spells. And the dragons are good mage exp.
