The New Engine: One Week Later

With last week's new engine update, many were incensed about one feature in particular - The diagonal walking. Since last week however, I haven't seen a single topic about any of the new features of the engine.

Has anyone tried the fight caves or dagannoth kings with the new update, and if so how were they compared to before? Has anyone incorporated the hotkeys into their playstyle?

That's what was said since last week - has anyone actually tried fighting the kings or getting the fire cape? How much harder was it than usual?

CANE

Just to be different.

Think about it. A freaking Dragon Cane with a Dragonstone gem.

The spec will simply your character equiping a glove and beachslapping the enemy, who will break down and do the Cry emote for 10 seconds straight.

Why is it only harder for pures salim? Wouldn't it be harder for everyone?

I'm not a dker, so i wouldn't know about that either.

Yes it will be harder for everyone, but especially hard for stupid pures because of the tiny defense levels they usually have, they'll be getting attacked a hell of a lot more.

Hotkeys (aside from the ecsp-inventory key) have been a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

Dag kings: Hybrids didn't see much of a problem. However, our mage did get Prime on him more than a few times while trying to snag Rex. Walking too far into the center ^.^

When I went Dking several times, my mage(s) had a bit of trouble getting Rex into the safespot. Also, it appears that Prime spawns closer to hybrids when we are about to range. It also appears that Supreme walks closer than he did before when ranging Prime.

After the update I decided to try my 7th attempt at the Jad.

I have never gotten the cape before.

7th time lucky :P

Diagonal walking causes no problems for getting 180's into safespots, non at all.

I have tried using the hotkeys, but I don't like them to much. So I don't use them.

And the diagonal walking style I haven't even noticed until now.

I was a little bored today so I took a venture into the fight caves (my gear was only slightly nooby :P). It is a lot harder, but still very doable. The main differences are that the 180s are harder to safespot (in order to use an east<->west safespot they have to already be directly east or west of you. The same is true of north/south safespots). However, that isn't terribly much of an obstacle. Much more significant are the new difficulties with luring. I didn't go far enough to necessitate luring myself, but obviously you'll end up with a lot of monsters heading up to the safe zone. It used to be that only monsters that spawn in the center could reach you, but now those that spawn in the southwest and south can reach you as well. I suppose it's still worth it to attempt to lure, but it is less effective now.

Supreme can now see you in the southeast moss safespot. And attack you. Its very rare, but I had it happen to a partner once.

Luring rex is now done in 2 parts instead of one.

I'm not even going to attempt fight caves

The mage in my Dag King group didn't have too much of a problem luring rex to a safespot. He said it was a bit annoying when you first try it, but it just takes a bit of practice and then you shouldn't have too much trouble.
