TotalTalker
Hey guys, I ordered this game on amazon, and I got it the other day. I havnt really got that far on it, but I can see already that itsd a really cool game  What are your thoughts on it? Use this thread to discuss all related comments on the game. P.S: I have a question: I know that you need to get a certain number of your major skills to get your overall level up, but how do you get your major skill levels up? I went into the fighters guild, and I started to hit the dummy in the basement, and I didnt get any of my major skills up. Why is this? Thanks!
Necromagus
Mostly levelling up requires patience. Just keep doing things related to your skill and you'll level up eventually. You'll occasionally get a level in athleticism as you randomly run/walk or acrobatics if you jump. You can also look for trainers, who will increase your skill (up to a certain point) in exchange for money. underu2000
Patience? Oblivion requires hardly any real work at all, compared to other rpg's. For heaven's sake, u can run around in circles and raise your athletics level. Or constantly cast the "unlock door" spells and raise the respective magic skill (theres like five, i forgot which one). The leveling up system is pretty faulty and can be easily exploited. Oh, i doubt hitting the dummy really helps. But don't worry too much on raising your skills, since the enemies are scaled to your level. So be careful of raising non-combat skills very high, or your enemies will get stronger and stronger and you wont be able to fight them. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either. Ragen
Ok thanks, but the mission im on at the moment is the one where you have to shut the first oblivion gate by kvahst, and I cant do it. Has anyone got any good tips for me please? Thanks! Thats a hard level. Just make sure you do it before levelling too much, it only gets harder. The trick to Oblivion is building a balanced character then getting the right equiptment. For that particular bit, don't get hit by the enemies. Let the other people take most of the damage but kill the enemies before they take too much. Also rest a lot, even if you're not injured your friends will be. And you really need those guys to fight some of the battles. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
indy500fan
There was a good amount of information in this thread: Oblivion! uesp.net is another good place, it's a wiki now though. Gamefaqs has good guides. Most suggestions you get will be one of three things: 1. Download OOO and play the game normally, levels shouldn't be a problem. 2. Pick skills you will never use as your major skills, so that you stay level 1 the whole game. 3. Play the game however you want and just suffer through the hard parts. I picked number 3. I had plenty of time to play the game, so I played it on the hardest setting and didn't try to make it easier by picking skills I wasn't going to use. Sure it would take 5-10 minutes to kill one creature, and I would usually die 2 or 3 times every fight. It made it challenging, and a lot of fun after I did something difficult. For heaven's sake, u can run around in circles and raise your athletics level. Or constantly cast the "unlock door" spells and raise the respective magic skill (theres like five, i forgot which one). The leveling up system is pretty faulty and can be easily exploited. You can also use the console and give yourself any level you want. You can create a super sword that kills the hardest people in one hit. But you don't have to do those things. If you just play normally, it works just fine. Macmaster92
Get your destruction to 100 and then get into the arcain university. Then you can make a spell that does 200 damage in a 15 foot radius. Oh and if you want to make it really really easy you get into the arcain university so you can enchant your armour. Make sure that you have done part of the brotherhood of evil so you can buy the chamelion ring from one of those people. Then you can enchant all of your armour so you are completely invisible and nobody attacks you. I call that easy. You should also dowload the shivering isles. You get a really cool staff when you finish the main quest of it.

Bloodstain
It's worth the money but alot of the dungeons are similar, and i didn't like the lack of rare items that have a set spot cause i like to collect staffs and stuff. Also, if you don't have internet hooked up to 360 you can do the item dupe and the king of skingrad to get a TON of money :-w

ROFL! :wall: Would be even funnier if it was true. Collision like that doesn't hurt you though, something else must of killed him, just at the same time. Also possible he ran through the wall in an internal cell that was not the proper height from the invisible floor, still there would a fall involved. ____
4 sessions of casting open easy lock on a door by jamming down the cost key ftw :D I'm suck a cheapstake, I hate leveling magic sometime. Just need to find any easy way to up conjuration and destruction. Might have to make a macro to cast, then heal something on the other side of a cell. Might do it. Just need to find any easy way to up conjuration and destruction. Might have to make a macro to cast, then heal something on the other side of a cell. Might do it. Conjuration is easy since it gives a decent amount of progression no matter what spells you cast, and destruction slightly less. Just summon a skeleton and blast it with a lightning touch, and repeat the cycle. Use higher level summons if you want to fill soul gems. Right now I'm regretting having conjuration as a major skill, because it made me level too fast and now I've got daedra up the wazoo and, while I have a load of magicka, the monsters have way too much health and I don't have enough skill with weapons to deal with them after I run out of potions and poisons. Then again, this is also due to the fact that I refuse to turn down the difficulty from the maximum setting. But let's face it, Oblivion scales in a very obscene way. You're taking some time off to enjoy the scenery and nice mountain air, then it's WTF MOUNTAIN LION *DIES* Varrock Library: Shattered Sky | Silent Thunder | The Emperor's FinestAstri @ MythWeavers
____
Conjuration from lv 5 sucks, I hate it. Takes me way too long to find a spell I can actually cast to a point where I can start summoning skeletons, then I go on a trip using soul trap and destruction and the occasional heal other spells that are floating about :P Went on a 5 minute cycle of that before I remembered that I was meant to be getting conjuration up #-o As for the scaling, yea.. I left imperial city.. ran for maybe 2 minutes - bam bloody minotars all over the place :ohnoes:
indy500fan
Mountain lions move pretty fast too, they used to always screw me up when I was running the Cyrodiil Marathon. I was faster than them but still they would get a hit or two in on me and then I couldn't fall down as big of hills. Conjuration levels quick at low levels, not so quick at high levels. I think I am only level 40 in it, one of my lowest skills.

Macmaster92
What do all of you people mean conujuration is slow? I got it to 100 in 30 minutes. All you do is summon a skeleton over and over. Since you can only summon one thing at a time they just disapear when you summon the next one. When your magika runs out just wait an hour. You can also jump up and down while your doing it to raise your agility. If you want to raise your destuction very easy you download a place called deepscorn hollow from Xbox live (not sure if you can download it off other versions) its kinda like a house. you have a prisioner that never attacks you and the guards don't come for you when you attack the prisoner. So all you do is keep wailing on him over and over and he wont do a thing. I raised my destruction to 100 in a hour with this method. I also raised my blade and hand to hand skills alot also. If you want to raise your agility you can try to jump up and down while doing it also.
