July 14, 200718 yr I am seeing a flux of threads about stopping macros, so I will simply make my own, which will be a compiled list of ways to stop bots, instead of a simple idea. CAPTCHA These are the registration keys that you must type in to register at most sites, these prevent bots from registering. These are possible to bypass with shape recognition, but not all bots have that, and if the characters are skewed enough this could prove effective. Aggressive NPC's We have already found a way to lure Hobgoblins, Muggers, Highwaymen, Wizards, etc to attack bots, and these have been effective, how about Jagex does this? They should add some highwaymen/wizards near yew trees, so that autos will be attacked, these do not include every yew tree, such as Edgeville or Seers', but would include the Lumbridge Swamp yews as well as Rimmington's, Varrock's, etc. Aubury vs Bots Bots commonly mine pure ess, I lure muggers in there to attack the bots, but the bots simply teleport to the ess mines, how about making it so that you cannot be teleported by a NPC while you are engaged in combat! More will be added! [hide=Supporters] - dberg20 (me) [/hide] Guide to Making a Foolproof RuneScape Password

July 14, 200718 yr Put the muggers in Catherby Yews too... the people that WC there are usually like 90+ so the mugger should be no problem. If you dont put them there the autos will just stop wcing where they are now and go to catherby.
July 15, 200718 yr Ways to get around 1. CAPCHA - just have a human sign up accounts. 2. Aggressive NPCs - raise combat level to 13 for muggers, takes an additional 20 minutes if that. 3. Aubury vs bots - see 2. also not be able to teleport while in combat would stop most abyss runecrafting because of being in combat with pkers or skeletons. I'm just questioning how effective any of these methods would be. PS. I'm all for annoying bot programmers, so i wouldn't mind if 1 and 2 are done.

July 15, 200718 yr CAPTCHA These are the registration keys that you must type in to register at most sites, these prevent bots from registering. These are possible to bypass with shape recognition, but not all bots have that, and if the characters are skewed enough this could prove effective. Won't work. An OCR will be able to read skewed words better than players can. Aggressive monsters are suggested all the time, JaGeX won't use it because of skillers.
July 15, 200718 yr Support, keep up the good words. .sigs these of many too read have you backwards this read you IfFinding cool stuff = advertising.
July 15, 200718 yr I like the agressive bots idea (number 2). I would like to see an ingame random that incorporates idea 1 with the funky text, difficult to see how a bot could work around that if it happens in game.
July 15, 200718 yr Java bots can recognize skewed characters, and if the person who wrote the macro doesn't know how to write one, he/she can find one online, and program it into the macro. Skillers would be mad about having to raise their combat, and the bots can easily just raise theirs. The third one would be easy to fix, but it won't stop macro's because they can just run.
July 17, 200718 yr It was easily bypassed with SleepWalker, leoSleep, and FurbyOCR. You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.
