whats the UK like?

It's ok i guess, I don't really like it too much here, but i guess i'd moan about any country i lived in. :) (Edit: Thinking of gangs etc... i think that is why i am negative about the UK but you find gangs anywhere.)

Be careful of our weather, it changes so fast. Flash floods #-o In my town we have flood protection

I live in a small town somewhere near london, Small towns are better, more sense of community. Also look out for freaky road names, the UK has been invaded a number of times, in particular all the road names in my town are in Dutch.

Just remember to bring your favourite foods with you, because if it has E numbers in it, it's likely to be unfit for sale. I miss lucky charms :boohoo:

Sorry for the randomness, I can't really think of how to make it more... full. :-s

Edit:

Some continuation of slang words, from a previous post

(may be just essex slang)

 Fit: No not healthy this means good looking, attractive. (Same as buff)

 Essex facelift, croydon facelift: (CHAV women) Having one's hair pulled back so tightly that it pulls one's face.

 Isit (same as init) to mean Isn't it, is very often used in the wrong context and appears after most statements.

 Pikey: Used as an insult it roughly translates as trailer trash (terrible word don't use it)

Minging:well it can mean, ugly, revolting, unplesant, /you get the picture.)

CHAV, (coucil housed and violent) chavs are found everywhere, and can usually be identified from their attire of cheap imitations of named brands. (Burberry, lacoste, etc...) - Burberry are going bust for this...

Bust: bankrupt

People are very, rude about accents, be prepared i speak from experience. I have a canadian accent, I'm british but i was brought up with a canadian babyminder, lol people sometimes think I am american.

All I can think of right now, hmm I will edit if i think of more.

By the way, Handel rocks!

Screw Handel, he wrote a song glofying what the Duke of Cumberland (aka the Butcher of Cumberland) did in Scotland. It's fair enough to defeat and kill soldiers in battle but to kill civilians (including women and children) long after the battle to intimidate a nation into surrender is barbaric to the point of genocide, for Handel to glorify this is a crime in itself. Also, screw the BBC for using this very piece of music as the theme for its World Cup coverage.

There's been another terror alert today and the police have just closed Liverpool airport due to a security alert. Aparently there was a suspicious car parked outside it. It was fully taxed with MOT and it still had the original car sterio.

Thats a joke btw

It was parked the right way, ruling out a southern vehicle.

if you are moving to england why go to london. i live in birmingham in England( not america). i don't think machester is the best city.

1.london is the largest.

2. birmingham or manchester are both big cities who argue over which one is the best.

hardly any of the cities in england have tall buildings. london has them. birmingham has them. i don't know if manchester does.

also in the winters england is cold. in the summers it is very hot BUT 4 some reason this year its not hot.very very wet. their are loads of floods.

did u know that britain has the most tornadoes by area in the world.

there are some cities that will never flood. birmingham will not flood because of its many canals( man made rivers). and it is built on high ground. but it isn;t really good at defending against tornadoes coz a few years ago there was a bad tornado. if tornado didn't stop when it did it would have gone into city centre and destroyed it.

I sodding hate living in Birmingham. Aside from the music scene, it's depressing. We're the least courteous city, I live by the rover factory so there's pollution, and its full of bleeding chavs still.

Wish I lived in Worcestershire, it's much nicer.

In fact, going back to the debate about Manchester, I would say it is probably the best place to live since there are the fewest Man Utd fans there :P

take earmuffs, dude, seriously. I took a trip to London, the British accents almost drove me insane.

Hehe, american accents aren't exactly like mozart pieces to listen too either. I would know, my great aunt is american. She drives me nuts.

Anyhow, enougth insulting others accents. Well, because I'm not a londener (as there called), I don't know too much about it. But i'll give you a tip on english in general.

Drive on the left side of the road.

Don't smoke when in public - against the law here.

Don't talk about soccer. It's football.

Don't make fun of football if you don't like it. It just isn't done here...

etc.

Basically, be polite and worship football as a god. If you hate the english completely. Remember one things:

All countries have it's ups and downs. Including america and the Uk.

" Drive on the left side of the road. "

Thats a good one. It's going to be probably the hardest to adapt to that, drive on left side of the road/right side of the car(in North America its mostly left side, all of Canada-America)

They have George Galloway, Which probably would be secretly assassinated if he was in the U.S...lol

Compared to the U.K, where everyone secretely wants him assasinated.

I like George Galloway, he's an arse, but he's my kind of arse. I don't particularly agree with his views and he may be utterly incompetant but at least he says excactly what he believes unlike most politicians who seem to be pre-occupied with doing/saying anything they can to get votes.
