mrmyk
why bump month old topics? if the discussion keeps on going then there is nothing wrong with it. Anyway, I think the UK is turning into a complete dump in certain areas although i'm sure what i have seen has been completely exaggerated. Many places in the UK are very nice but in others it can be extremely bad full of....*sigh* chavs. I would gladly enrole in the police force to get as many of them off the streets as possible which may happen if i don't get my first choice job of a doctor :P. The government needs to make punishments much harsher i think to really deter people from doing this..it's getting out of hand now as i saw a video on the news with a gang of chavs stoning a police car. Faux
It's a nanny state, taxes are too high, rains too frequently, there is barely any good British food, humor is weird, accent is annoying, chavs everywhere, etc. Those are the negative reputations England seems to have. Other than that, it's a good place to live in :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

Not that there's anything wrong with that but it shows how silly our government is, and how rubbish the immigration controls are. Sig by me.... spatulus13
It all depends on where you go in England. To be honest, its not that good, not that bad here (Newcastle) - theres the minoity (Chavs...) who are complete tossers, and everyone else is pretty much ok :) Another thing, You can't beat good old fashioned English Fish and Chips =p Proud Member of the Tal Shiar Alliance

Besides, what do Canadians eat other than Kraft dinner :D . Humour is fine, it just takes more intelligence to undertand than all that [cabbage] they watch in North America. There are many accents in the UK, some are annoying, but only a very small few are more annoying than American/Canadian accents. Chavs are vermin but there are places without them. Rain being nice is your preference. For one, I like going out so frequent rain is horrible Chinese and Indian food != English. And the food you listed isn't really "good food" "cabbage they watch in North America" when these shows are syndicated all over the world. Either way, your humour is weird I wasn't born here in Canada. UK accents in general are more annoying and harder to understand. Esp. with your lingo Lol @ your try to trash Canada though. This thread isn't about Canada  Not to mention a good number of people you made fun of for eating "Kraft dinner" has English heritage  :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::

It doesnt matter how many more chinese / indian people live in the US. the rest of the world has nowhere near as many random foreign food takeaways as the UK. Barihawk
I've lived in Britain. My overall view of it is poor, because the nation has the worst attempt at Tex-Mex in the world. The salsa was COLD (should be room temperature) and the spice level was colder. However, native British cuisine is amazing. Beautiful country, lots of museums. But tainted by the complete butchering of Tex-Mex. I made the mistake of saying "ya'll" when I went in. BIG MISTAKE. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley

I made the mistake of saying "ya'll" when I went in. BIG MISTAKE. Ouch. By the way, there is no proper term for a British accent, since it varies wildly and sometimes people from different sides of the island couldn't understand each other because of the accents, despite both speaking english. Other than that, England is fun to live in, and has a lot more history than places like America or Canada. EDIT: Oh, by the way, try the mushy peas. ~ W ~

Funny claim because Canada is more diverse than England Ive just been on holiday in the US and their chinese takeaways are seriously poor. Some of the states in America are bigger than European countries and you going on a holiday makes you a professional on the topic? The mushy peas are excellent. But yes, there are no less than 20 Tex-Mex restaurants in London, alone. I've patronized all of them. Well, 19 of them. Bubsa
Chinese and Indian food != English. And the food you listed isn't really "good food" True, but Chinese Takeaways and Indian takeways etc. sre not Indian or Chinese Food. They taste totally different, a.k.a., a British influence. That might be through grease and fat, but hey. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
Barihawk
Same with American take-out, Bubsa. Chinese Stir-Fry was invented by a Chinese chef for American high school students in Sacremento. And the Indian food here in Texas is 100 times spicier. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Barihawk
Not true, I've adapted many Irish recipes to include American ingredients and they taste great. And I've even invented a few American style dishes that could be enjoyed anywhere at the same quality.
