Keiphus
Mmm... Been working on this for about an hour now... and so far the highlights and shadows on the bodykit really have me stumped... I'm trying to make them look good but I'm not doing very well at it... I've gone through about 3 different light sources.... I also did some of one of the rims, but it looks funny... so I won't be posting that either... Let me know what you think, and anything you notice about the shadows that would help me draw them. Right now I'm mainly working on the sideskirt. I just can't seem to get it looking right...

tttia
Looking pretty smooth I like it! if it were me I would put the light right above the front right side wheel well area, coming from the top left of our view at an extrem angle...really get a nice bright highlight on the rounded part above the wheel, accross the hood, receding to the back. Then the shadows would really show the countours all down the side from top to bottom....having trouble describing what I mean... Something like this, only I am trying to be sloppy...not that I have to try much...because I don't want to shade your work, just to demonstrate, but the angle from above so you get all the nice smooth contours. Obviously in vector it will work a bit differently....but have you considered just brushing over the vector? I think it would look better... Incidentally, I have no clue what car this is, this is just my take on it, I doubt you want the side panels that recessed.
NACHO
it's at an angle, so the sides don't look like they recede to me.
Keiphus
Heh... I started an awesome drawing of a Harley Davidson F150, but I didn't get a chance to upload it.. I'll show you guys that one on monday, next time I'm at school.
tttia
So are we to read into this that you are abandoning the car? Don't do it man! don't start a piece, ask for critiques, then not carry it through! Or you will kill the WIP spirit building here. by the way, where is that finished balcony scene? Keiphus
This is for a contest, I'll be doing two vehicles; the s2000 and a harley truck. The balcony will not be shown. I told you guys I had rushed through it for a grade, and the end product showed it. Although it's pretty good compared to others, I don't feel like I should have to identify with it, because it doesn't meet my standards. So I won't show it. tttia
k, fair enough. so have you settled on your light source?
Keiphus
Ok well I've been unable to access the forums from home, so I'll probably only post here when I'm at school and work. This was one I worked on this weekend at home; it's coming out nicer than I expected. It's a different style/approach. More black lines this time too. The rims were probably what took the longest, finding what looked good and getting the right angles...

tttia
I am liking the general feel on this one. It is not quite as developed as the other yet,. So how is the Harley doing? And is it a techincal issue that is keeping you from checking? Anartist/sim might be returning to the boards. But overall, just been sig shops as far as the eye can see ..... Keiphus
Today is my first day back at school, so I haven't had time to work on the harley. Everything on this new car was done over the weekend at home. I'll post what I did on the harley last week up though, but all I did was a few of the lines. Keiphus
Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem at all. :)
Lowgravity
Very nice work, however I think tinted windows would be nicer? Maybe a red tint to go with the Brake, ace job though. Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(
Korla
love it keiphus :D and i agree with you tttia, it's a nice, new spirit with some more serious (read non-sig) artistry going on here, don't stop :D

I gotta ask though..I just dont' get how you get such nice lines when vectoring. The pen tool hates me...either I can't get it to behave or I try freeform and it looks like [cabbage] :?
