Goldenjkered
About 3 weeks ago, my friend decided to trade in, around 40 playstation one games and around 15 PC games, plus a Psone console. He was excited, because he was expecting around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã100 to spend on new games, and I expected that ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã100 too. I also was trading in some of my old xbox games. We got to the store (gamestation) and I went first. I had around 6 xbox games. The employee added up the value and then told me '̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10'. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10 for 6 xbox games. Thats around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1.50 each, and as you can probably tell I was dissapointed. Then my friend put his games on the desk. It took around 5 - 10 minutes to count up the total and the employee told my eagerly awaiting friend that the total was a measly ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã22.50 without the Psone. He was both shocked and dissapointed. Me and another friend told him not to sell them, but he said he wanted to get command and conquer 3. So in the end he traded some pc and psone games for as low as 10p each. I just wanted to ask if anyone else felt as though stores like Game and Gamestation are just ripping people off. Whats your opinion? Whips: 3 Dragon Boots: 15 My 99's: Attack & Cooking Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Goldenjkered
Bobbington
they do have to make profit.... at the end of the day stores such as game station do have alot of costs to cope with. However I do feel they are paying too little, not so mcuh that they are worth more, but at the cost they are paying I would prefer to keep them. speedofsound
I've made up to 90 dollars in trade ins with a few semi new games. :-s The price varys, you and him were probaley tradeing old games and so gamestation could only sell them at a low price. Whats odd is that they accepted PC games because here at EBGame/Gamestop (samething now), your not allowed to trade in PC games because you could have just made a virtual disc, then brought it back. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you." underu2000
Yea, they don't really want ancient games. The max they can sell these ps1 games for would be 2-3 bucks. I never trade in games, it's a waste of cash to buy a game and sell it back for a 1/100 of what you bought it for. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either. Ye but I mean if they buy for 10p and sell for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3 then that just doesn't seem fair to me. Lets say if they bought for 50p or ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1 and sold for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã3 that would be more reasonable. Plus in about 20+ years time, Psone games are going to be worth more than they are now, and they will eventually become antiques in lets say 100 years. Tigra00
Yes, they have to make profit, but they're just flat-out ripping people off now. I sold my Xbox and like 5 games to Gamespot like 3 years ago, and they gave me around $170. I thought that was pretty fair. Last year, I sold them another Xbox and like 11 games - New games, not old, [cabbage]ty games, and I got $60. $1.25 per game, and $30 for the console. Just keep your stuff. Oddly, it'd rather have the crap sitting around collecting dust than to get ripped off. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! Keep in mind few people actually buy these games, which means they want to pay as little as possible so they don't get the game. If they payed fair prices, they would lose money because nobody would buy 90% of the games. Honestly I think the used game prices are meant to repel the seller. -.- And if everyone followed the "keep your items till they become antiques" policy, the world would be filled with packrats. I doubt most old videogames will be expensive collector's items, much less a priceless antique. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either. Mr_Putter
I would tell you not to trade these game in, but it just means I am able to pick up cheap, used classics when I need to. I'd love to pay more for unused old games, but they don't carry those. But I buy used games so I can play them/collect them when there's nothing else available. So if you're tired of getting ripped off don't sell them. But on the other hand, someone else might to get to play an old game they might not have the chance to play normally. Like me :).
