Faelenof
Love it. :D I've got a bit of a panorama thing, and I reckon this one's pretty well made. I'm no photographer, so I won't be able to say much on the technical side of things. :P It's a great photo, I can't see any major faults (ie, where one photo stops/starts). Yay for new cameras. ^^ Pixel Artist - Former Player Mod - Former Tip.It ModNot taking sig requests - sorry!
WutangFlu
I can't see any major faults (ie, where one photo stops/starts). Yay for new cameras. ^^ Thanks.. in the bigger version if you know where to look you can see where they've been merged in parts. Although this time I didn't take the time to go and heal those area, I just wanted to get some experiments in for things I've never done.
Jopie211
Wow, very nice, I love the panorama. Great job. : (I can't really C/C, since I know nothing about photography... ) pixel avvy by me deviantART
woopidoo2
Let me be the first one to ask, What lenses do you use? :) and have you bought other things with it, like filters? The 20D is a very nice camera, greenslime will tell you more about it. The color of the sky at the panorama photo are very warm, did you make it in the morning? Next time, if you make a panorama photo I would recommend to avoid the sun, try to find a spot that doesnt include the sun. Of the 4 other photos, the focus is best on the last one. They are very good for your first photos with a new camera. ThoseTheBrokes
I was going to ask what he said ^ : . I love panoramas, especially when they're done right. your fields look like the ones I live near. I might have a go at one, one day. what programme did you use to merge them? woopidoo2
what programme did you use to merge them? Thats also called 'Stitching', I had a CD with my Canon 350D with stitching software on it. I think you have it too, its called PhotoStudio 5.5. But if I were you, I would search for some real stitching software. I tried to stitch something before with PhotoStudio, and its quite hard. WutangFlu
I used photoshop CS3 to stitch them Theres other programs out there, like the one that came on a disc with the camera Also theres a program called "autopano pro" Which i tried, but lack the need for it since i have photoshop. My lenses I own are as follows Canon 70-200mm 4/L USM Canon 50mm f/1.8 MkII Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8 (which was used to make the panorama locked at 17mm) The panorama was shot a 7-8pm around twilight i guess you could say. I added a gradient to a layer in photoshop and set it to a layer style to give the sky that look. The I adjusted the levels in photoshop to make it have fairly warm tones. And minor sharpening after downsizing of course. Edit: As for filters, right now I only have UV filters but eventually im going to get some Black and white contrast filters and Polarizers. And possibly gradient if I feel compelled. As for avoiding the sun, I think i might try lowering my exposure time, or shoot for the moon and try a full HDR pano. :XD: (once I figure out how to do HDR)

greenslime89
I used photoshop CS3 to stitch them Theres other programs out there, like the one that came on a disc with the camera Also theres a program called "autopano pro" Which i tried, but lack the need for it since i have photoshop. My lenses I own are as follows Canon 70-200mm 4/L USM Canon 50mm f/1.8 MkII Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8 (which was used to make the panorama locked at 17mm) Some great photos you have there, and welcome to the winning team! Canon You've chosen some great lenses, I love my 50mm F/1.8 MKI (metal mount) and I've seen some great shots from my friend's 30D with the MKII. The 70-200 F/4L USM is a fantastic lens with great image quality, near silent focusing and L glass for a great price. Having tried that at my camera shop, I found that the aperture was a little small for me so I'm going for the F/2.8 Non-IS version - but it's heavier and bulkier. The tamron, I've heard is a great lens but the only problem is that if you want to upgrade to a full frame camera, you will have to invest in a different lens. If you're wanting to buy lenses that you can use on full frame cameras, you should look for "DG" in Sigma, "Di" in Tamron and EF in Canon. Avoid "DC", "Di II" and "EF-S" if you want to upgrade to the 5D or the 1Ds, 1Ds Mk II, 1Ds Mk II/n or the 1D Mk III. Which all have full frame CMOS sensors or APS-H sized CMOS sensors. Remember that on your 20D all the focal lengths are multiplied by 1.6 due to the smaller sensor. The 70-200mm F/4 becomes a 112-320mm F/4. The 50mm F/1.8 becomes an 80mm F/1.8. The 17-55mm F/2.8 becomes a 27-88mm F/2.8 Congratulations on your new camera and if you want any advice on how to use it give me a private message or e-mail and I'll tell you what I know. The 20D is a fantastic camera but remember if you're going out in the rain, to take water housing for it or even a plastic bag to cover it with. The 70-200mm is as far as I know weather sealed. If the front optic rotates during focusing or zooming, don't get a circular polariser for it. The 50mm F/1.8 can't use a polariser but the 70-200mm certainly can. I'm not sure about the 17-55mm F/2.8 I look forward to seeing more of your photos. EDIT: If you're going for a graduated filter I would suggest getting a square filter set. Lee Filters are the best, if the most expensive. Cokin make good filters too, you'll want the P-sized filters for your lenses. Remember that if your using a polariser to get a circular polariser, this way both AF and MF can be used. ND grads are great but you can create the same effect in photoshop, but it's always best to get it right at the time. Remember that the polarisers and other coloured filters will reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor so you'll maybe have to use a wider aperture or higher ISO/ASA. Photos! WutangFlu
@ the Circular polarizers Yes, I was looking into getting one of those for my 20-700 and 17-55 (both have 67mm mounts) and do not rotate in the front. The things I've seen done with them, specifically landscapes where the sky is a large factor, look amazing and I'll probably get one later on As for questions, do you have any recommendations for sensor cleaning I'm sure its inevitable that the camera will pick up dust on the sensor some time or another, and I'd like to be prepared. Although I can remove it with a few seconds of photoshop CS/Lightroom work, I'm trying to take this seriously and to streamline my work flow is a key, in my opinion, to professionalism. Since I'm going to be going to college for either photography, or business. Photography if I'm not good enough by the time I graduate, or business If I am good enough, then I can run by own studio with more knowledge. Rocket blower What to do: Check battery power - if it is low don't attempt it - you're putting a bit of plastic in your camera and if the battery is low the camera will bring the mirror down on it if it runs out of power. Go to MENU and scroll to the bottom and select SENSOR CLEANING. This will lock the mirror up and allow access to the sensor. Place the nozzle of the rocket blower into the camera, be careful not to touch the sensor. Blow the air at the sensor and this should dislodge the dust. Then just take the rocket blower out and turn the camera off. Having done that put the lens back on. FINI  Photos!

Adam007
Great looking panoramics. Definitely try out taking some HDR photos, they're really fun once you finish the job. You can download photomatix to make them (they have a free trial version with a watermark you can easily edit out), or I'm pretty sure CS3 also has the ability for HDR's which you can search for. Definitely try some out though.

I guess it could be mistaken for a snow/ice texture with the color tones I used.
