How jagex should have selected player mods.

What do you all mean by this? I thought Jagex did recruit p mods by referrals from other pmods? No other way even makes sense.

I'd like to know how you think Jagex chooses their p mods.

A player on a cheating website made an acc with becoming a player mod in mind, he sucked up on the official forums reported any one he saw breaking a rule and was made a player mod within 2 months on a lvl 36 account with no skill over lvl 60, he had no interaction with any player mods.

Ok, so you're mad that someone with a low combat level sucked up to Jagex and was promoted to Player Moderator. But, we can only assume(unless you have further information about this player) that he only had a low combat level on this account. For all we know, this player may have had another account(or more) before that was in the high 90s in terms of combat, and over 1400+ total level. He may have a lot of experience in Runescape. We don't know. And even if this was his first account, is not interacting with other player moderators really that bad? I believe all new moderators are welcome to ask the more experienced mods any questions, but I don't believe that they need to have another moderator hold their hand when moderating.

just one thing:

was there any evidence of that actually happening?

i can already say that 2 months is not enough time ingame for them to be even considered for modship, let alone time they have to decide if the character is good enough for the position. they also monitor the other accounts on that computer (or so i've been told), so they'd know how the guy is on another account.

There was pics and videos of him on the account, pic of his pm from jagex and much more.

It was his second account, with his first having been banned for bug abuse. (Waterfall bug).

It was a controlled test to see if it was possible to become a player moderator by kissing up to jagex on the official forums and reporting every one who broke a jagex rule, not matter how slight.

and total play time on the char was 58 days, under 2 months.

whose to say it wasn't a private server?

there is a time requirement, and under two months is nowhere near enough.

There isnt a time requirement.

And you dont have a pm system on private servers.

  • Author
wouldn't know about private servers, never used one, but i DO know that there is a time requirement.

most recent mod i knew played 6 months when offered, he deserved it.

Theres no time requirement, and 6 months is NOT a long time and certainly not long enough to decide some one should be made a player moderator.
  • Author
ignoring the fact that it was deserved? you really just seem to be taking your assumptions of the mod system as fact...

if you're willing to wait a day or two, i can get proof of a time requirement.

How can it be deserved, what could he have done that thousands of other players havnt done that have played longer and have more experience.

He reported rule breakers. He helped the comunity. There. How many players do that? Not many. I barelly see any players with me at yew trees.

Theres 144 worlds and a meriad of time zones and a meriad of yew tree locations.

Theres also, runecrafting autoers, fishing autoers, mining autoers, auto buyers ...

You think that no body reports them?, every body i know reports them.

I wouldn't know about that I don't go on cheating sites. How do you know he had no pmod interaction? Pmods read the forums, he might have impressed one of them enough to get a recommendation.

There are probably other factors such as number of black marks, reports, etc but I am fairly certain pmods are also chosen through recommendations. ;) Jagex doesn't even read the customer support emails even for important things like ban appeals, do you *really* think they go over all the in game "report abuse" messages to find those who report a lot?

They *have* to go by player recommendations, no other system makes the least bit of sense. Jagex people are way too busy to sort through the millions of Rs accounts on their own.

player mods are rubbish in my opion they do nothing, they report ppl that dnt need to be and dnt report ppl that need to be. They think there all so greta casue there mod! Who cares! It should just be jagex that mod, they shouldnt get players to. Cause they can act all good before modderation then as soon as they get modded tehy only listen to there mates!

Your from england, why butcher your own language?.

Player mods have a valid place in this game, i just think they should up the experience needed to become one.

They are fine mostly, just some have big heads and presume too much that they know more than non-pmods. I would prefer seeing Jagex mods though...

Seems that jagex has distanced itself from the community that it created, perhaps jagex should raise wages so there can be more jmods :P

My only complaint about their choice of p mods is that you have to show activity on the forums. For the life of me, I can't see why anyone would want to wade through the ignorance and stupidity of the RSOF. Just loading the main forum page is enough to make my computer lag from the constant inane spam threads.

If a perspective pmod has to be active in the RSOF, then I certainly DON'T want to be one. I play RS for the game, NOT the forums.

I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?

There is more F2P pmods than P2P pmods. You don't have to be a member to become one. There is seperate forum moderators to keep the RSOF in shape.

I feel that they cant, who better to choose player mods, then proven player mods.

And if your given a position of trust on a game you should have proved your dedication.
