aznleeda
Well im thinking about doing a bunch of barrows and my friends say that they can melee barrows with relative simplicity. Im just wondering if it is reasonable to melee barrows to earn runes and then mage it? Thanks in advance :D
nerdattack16
Erm, how high-leveled are your friends? I can't melee people in Barrows armor and 70 defence without super sets and prayers, and I'm 71 attack/strength... :-w Sig credit goes to ThruItAll. :D
hatebringer
Usually, people only melee the brothers with 85+ atk str and def or more, or you will hit too many 0s, and waste alot of food and pots. I have tried doing it before with super sets, and it worked generally alright (82atk 81str 80def) but i wouldn't even suggesting to attempt it at under 80 cb stats. 99 Fletching 99 Attack 99 Constitution 99 Cooking 99 StrengthGamertag: H8tebringer
geesch
even for maxed players i can beat the brothers faster then them with mage. definitely mage them, free mage exp, all and more of runes, and its faster.

It's not really free mage exp. I mean, it is. But you are still spending runes that have a value to them. You'd get more mage exp for your money by selling the runes and alching stuff. Gin_and_Tonic
Erm, your friends may mean they'll be using Veracs. With Veracs its simple as you just smash through their defence... However, if they mean whips etc, then it will take waayyy too long other then maybe Karils and Ahrims.
ultimatballr
This is a guide to meleeing at Barrows. Mainly, people use veracs when they barrow with melee, actually thats the only known working melee method. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=485559 I haven't exactly read the guide, but it was in the Archive of Wisdom, so I am sure it is good. This is the guide I used when I first started barrowing. It is great, I started out maging, but when I tried it with melee I loved that so from now on I use melee. But here is a good guide to maging.(The cheap way. I don't believe there is any ancient techniques) http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=560975 Apparently, my signature was to big. Acsacs
This is a guide to meleeing at Barrows. Mainly, people use veracs when they barrow with melee, actually thats the only known working melee method. 95+ attack can easily melee the barrows with a whip. It's about even with veracs for me at 91 att. And yes, I do this all the time, just melee for a few hundred deaths then start maging it. Although lately I just skip that last step; meleeing is so much more profitable. For anyone saying "It's way faster to mage," I can honestly say it's not that much faster, if at all. With a little luck, I can beat my maging friends, and with a little luck, they can beat me, but we usually end up at the chest pretty close to the same time. Actually it is, since you get your runes back from the chest if you use slayer dart. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes. walka92
if u wana use melee u pretty much gotta use veracs, for the set effect. even with 99 attack whip doesnt work very well I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come
davidium
you will have to give us your stats to have more conclusive opinions...if you are pretty rich and have 94 mage like me :D i would suggest using ancients since you dont have to use pray pots except for karil...if you have high atk/str/def (around 85 or above in my opinion) by all means go melee them...just take note of your health as even with my 99 def torag has hit me a double 20+ in a row before although it is rather rare. talking about speed, ill say its much faster if u use barrage for dharok cause i can usually kill him within 6 hits (means i kill him before he even gets the chance to move) although once i miss or hit a zero ill take precautionary measures. but most of the time im able to hit around 25-30 rather consistently decked out in full ahrims. ancients ftw take note that it IS expensive though so unless you are confident of getting rewards consistently, conserve runes by using burst for all the other bros though i try to barrage them at the first hit to kill them faster since they freeze for a longer period. maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cookinglife may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it
