Nadril
Well, i've been messing around with the Vue d'esprit 4 (and now i just found out they had a version 5 trial, so using that) Anyways, for those who don't know, its a landscaping program. For one, its much more powerful than terragen. It also has suport for trees, archetecture, plants, rocks, ect. so, i've been working in it, kind of learning the controls and stuff, and managed to come up with 2 things. now note, these probaly arn't that good, for the simple fact that: -I'm new to the program - its only a demo, so has restrictions when it comes to like Textures and render sizes, and other things :( Anyways, here are the two things i came up with: first try Second try, and in Vue 5 (other was 4) another try... just messing around with mountains and stuff, trees are a tad out of place, but hell i wanted them in there, and couldn't find any others (darn demo lol) I'm planing on maybe trying to buy this program. Vue 4 is around 64$ (preaty easy to get) and Vue 5 is like 250-290, but i think i saw like a 100+ $ discount on there, and i might be able to get a discount for being a student and stuff :P So... if you guys sudenly see trees and stuff in my landscapes, you'll know what i'm using :D btw, for those that are currious, its almost like a cross between bryce and terragen :P Like if they had a baby or something
Molishist
Wow, they look good. The first one is beautiful. The only thing I can say right now is the second one's sun looks a bit bright and the grass isn't very realistic. But its your first time! Good job. Ive never used the program but from what it looks like it looks a lot more flexible than terragen like you said. Oh and btw, for those that are currious, its almost like a cross between bryce and terragen :P Like if they had a baby or something

Ive never used the program but from what it looks like it looks a lot more flexible than terragen like you said. Thanks. Yeah the second one the grass isn't that great, the textures in the demo are kind of limited :( Also, it is a LOT more flexible than terragen. And i like it so much, because you can make atmospheres simular to terragen (or take the easy way out and choose from like 70+ (in the full version of 5) and theres all these other cool features too. They even have a Vue 5 Infinite, which is just crazy :P Its 399$ though :( but had like a 100$ or so discount  . some of the effects you can do in the program are amazing. I know one of my freinds ( theakman2 , some may remember him from scapeboard ) has vue 4 i belive (maybe 5) and does some great stuff in it. http://theakman2.deviantart.com :D Thanks. Keiphus
Theakman's stuff is good.... but that image is way over-rated. Also, can you model in Vue? As with most landscaping programs, they seem to be a composition task rather than an artistic ability.
ice_ring
This trial is getting on my nerves. I can only use two trees, and like 4 surface map thingys. Also the one thing, clouds, that I seem to have options on, I don't know how to work! How did you get stars in your first sig?

tttia
Theakman's stuff is good.... but that image is way over-rated. Also, can you model in Vue? As with most landscaping programs, they seem to be a composition task rather than an artistic ability. Do you really want to get into that conversation again? Considering that half the people who commented on his work thought he DREW it in ps or gimp etc....I would say it is incredibly over rated. He never put vue in the actual description, though it was buried way in the comments where no one ever reads, and it is simply under generic landscapes, with no indication it was done in a pre-fab 3d program. I don't remember all of the old categories, but I am sure 3d was one of them..and he certainly could have re-classified by now. comments such as this one abounded: truly is a captivating image. unbelievable that this was done by hand I will simply say of this as I have all the other terragen, poser, daz, vue, bryce, etc. works, that they are fine for what they are...a good scene. They are not in any way indicative of talent beyond a good eye and some patience.... Yes, as you mentioned, composition, much the same a with photography. I will say though that akman does have a good eye, and a lot of patience. So I give credit for that But in any case, it appears to have limited modeling capablilties. That doesn't mean anyone here is actually using them. They just exist. Here is a rundown of the specs: http://www.curiouslabs.com/go/products/vue also on the e-on site http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Products/vue5/ Easily create organic or geometric models using metablob and boolean modeling, import fully textured objects from other 3D software, create amazing titling effects... So in other words...not a whole lot of capability. Curious labs sells a package deal that bundles poser and vue.
