Tyrrell9
If you have cash to start with, I think you can pretty much break even making mith bolts.
Tarrance10
alright, i'm f2p and i'm mining all the ores and smelting them to bars and then smithing them into weapons or armour so getting my smihting up from lvl 53 to like 70+, would it be easier for me to smelt and smith mith or steel? i think i already know which one gives u more exp but i wanna know what u guys think
Polnar
Steel would probs be quickest, Iron is a lot faster to mine than mith and it's half the coal time, so definitely faster.
Tarrance10
Yea thats wat i was thinkin cuz smeltin 1 mith with 4 coal is 30 exp. and smeltin 2 steel bars with 2 iron and 4 coal is 35 exp. and making 1 mith dagger is 50 exp. and makin 2 steel daggers are like 55 exp. Exactly, but you'll probably get sick of mining your own stuff. I suggest that you mine your own iron(with 50+ mining) and buy the coal at 180-200ea. This way, you will lose a LOT of money, but mining coal gets so tedious after a while... At whatever level that it takes(65-67) to make mith kites, I suggest that you mine coal+mith in the guild, superheat mith bars, walk to the anvil and make kites, high alch them while walking back, rinse and repeat until you use up your nats. This way you will make a slight profit if you buy the nats at 300ea, and you can make a decent profit when you move up to legs/skirts at the appropriate level. Mat
you get exp per bar, not exp per item.. :? But your best bet would be mining iron and making knives, or whatever.
wioneo
you get exp per bar, not exp per item.. :? But your best bet would be mining iron and making knives, or whatever. He's F2P so he can't make knives. Also, I suggested a higher leveled item because of the increased high alch value, the bars used and experience gained will be the same, but you'll make a larger profit. Note that the superheating method isn't very fast, but it does give you experience in three skills which you are constantly switching between to decrease burnout and generates a decent profit. Seanthorn
What id do is, if you want to mine your own ores, go on to a Tip.It planner. I see your level 63 mining, so use the planner to get you to 70 mining, but make it so you mine twice as much coal as iron. With all that ore, I'm sure you can start on something. Btw, thats my opinion, boring i know.

Aslan
In my opinion the hard part will be getting to 58 smithing(mith square shields). Superheat items either in guild and bank for making sq's later, or make bars in lumbridge swamp and bank in draynor, again for making sq's later. According to the site's smithing tables: you need 2 bars(for sq), you get 100 xp out of it and by high-alchemizing 936gp. That's 36 gp profit at each sq you make, considering you buy natures 300 each.

Goobore
I'm just wonderin wat would be the quickest way to raise up my smithing lvl from 53 up to like 70+ would it be smithing mith bars or steel bars? Smelting and smithing any F2P Iron item will have an average cost of 2 iron ore and will give you 37.5 exp. You can average about 14 Iron bars per trip to the furnace. So each trip will average 175 exp. That's 18.75 average exp per ore used. Smelting and smithing any F2P Steel item will always cost 1 iron ore and 2 coal ore and will give you 55 exp. You can do 9 steel bars per trip to the furnace. So each trip is 157.5 exp. That's 18.33 exp per ore used. Smelting and smithing any F2P Mith item will always cost 1 mith ore and 4 coal ore and will give you 80 exp. You can do 5 mith bars per trip to the furnace. So each trip is 150 exp. That's 16 exp per ore used. Iron ore is much easier to get than Mith ore and Steel takes only half the coal that Mith requires. The only advantage that Mith has over Steel is that the final Mith product is usually worth more than a Steel item. (which, in turn, is worth more than an Iron item) Btw, that's how RS works. The mid-level items are usually the best to use when leveling up a skill. The higher level items are usually slower but provide much better cash when sold. The slow part of the Smithing skill is doing the smelting. After you have all of the bars, the actual smithing part is easy since you can take a full load to the Varrock west anvils. Do Steel. You get almost the best exp per ore used and you can get decent money for the products that you make. Or better yet, get members and use the Ruby ring with Iron. Hope this helps
