think about it.., without tut island where would you be?, where would i be?

 

 

 

i would have never learned about smithing.

 

 

 

i wouldn't know how to fish or mine

 

 

 

i probaly wouldve quit the second day and jagex wouldve lost 2 years worth of membership from me.

The debate is about whether TI should be optional. Know what that is? It's there, but not necessary to do. Anyone would have the common sense to do the inbuilt tutorial the first time, right? Except for an idiot. Your reply is irrelevant to the thread, I have to say.

On second thoughts, it kinda should be optional. A lot of seasoned RS players are making 2nd characters and the island is pointless the second time around especially if you've been playing for a while. But you have to realize there are some not-so-bright people out there who would try out RS for the first time, skip the island, and then complain they have no idea what they're doing... But then Jagex would put their famous warning screen asking them if they're sure they want to....

With the new tutorial system, it said something about it being optional I believe. Their will also be 2 reward lamps regardless if you do it or not. Am I interpreting this right?

Tutorial Island is completly necessary; and there should be one designed for players transfering into P2P. :thumbup: The only exception should be if you are re-subscribing to members.

I recently started a new game, Final Fantasy XI, and did not have a clue what to do.

 

You're thrown right in there with the action! I was totally oblvious of how to acheive the most simplest of tasks, for example, navigating my way around the interface.

 

 

 

Tutorials remove most of this, that's why I feel it should always be there.

keep it cuz if it was optional when i joined i would have probably skipped over it and i would have been SO lost in the game and have no clue what to do. Also, the dang bots would just skip over this to do their bot buisiness. :thumbdown:

when i started there was no tutorial island...or even manual. You learned things from word of mouth (like how to smith and fish and stuff)...it was the fun of the game.

Agreed, as it is, it is really limited, although I haven't tried out the new one. Maybe that'll have more skills taught.. :|

Okay... this new "island" should be optional. It's longer than the previous with the same content, it's embarrassing, and those two exp lamps aren't even worth the fact that the tutorial now takes 20-30 instead of 5-10 minutes. And on second thought, every tutorial should be optional. It's that simple: whoever needs it takes it, whoever doesn't need it doesn't take it, and whoever needs it yet doesn't take it - is an idiot.
