Im trying to stop (or at least stop some of) macroeing

well im not trying to be a mod but i do hate bots. anyway, i was just wondering about the rules of engagement. what i do is walk up to a lvl 3 (we all know what bots look like) and say "Are you a bot?". If they don't answer, I say " Answer me in 10 seconds or be reported". I then start a countdown. "10, 9, 8, 7 ,6,5, 4, 3, 2, 1". Once the countdown is up and they still don't answer, I say "This will be your last chance. Answer me or be reported as a macroer." The way I figure, somebody who is just skilling will at least tell me go away or say something to make me leave, a macroer will not answer. If they absolutely don't respond to me I report them. Is this methodany good?

It's not the best because people have their Public chat off and are reading/watching TV at times and never see it.

 

 

 

If you know it's 100% a macro report it without even talking to it.

carebear, jagex can not help it. they are trying hard and macroers will never be wiped out i just wanna do my part to help the situation

now this just SCREAMS macroer. i was in lumby forest making a list for jagex (courtesy of master smither) and i saw these two guys doing the same thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

now ive heard that macroers often own several bots rather than one so could this be one?

No, i support not having idiots all over runescape spamming over 10 messages to someone who they suspect to be botting and then reporting them when you have no evidence except they didn't want to reply to your WBMish bs.

 

 

 

Edit: Jagex claim to be able to detect bots, instead of annoying hundreds of legit players spamming and falsely reporting people, why not leave it to them?

 

 

 

Edit #2: Seriously, you look like an idiot saying "0mgz ans3rz me 0r i rep0rtz j00 for macro1ns!!!1111", you look like a noob acting like you have authority. You don't.

 

 

 

Edit #3: By the way, if you think someone is macroing REPORT THEM FOR MACROING, don't go spamming pointless rubbish. It makes you as bad as them.

exactly, which is why i now go by what master smither said. and btw, jagex cannot detect bots or there would be waaaaaaaaay less bots. i alone have no authority, jagex does. by bringin it to their attention, they can dowhat they must.

jagex can detect bots, they have the same mouse movment kind of thing, and it repeats over and over and over agian exactly the same... so don't say they cant detect a bot or not when u really dont know.

dude, they CANNOT DETECT BOTS!!! im sure they WISH they could and when they can then i will be happy i want you to be right about this but they cant. if they could bots would be a thing of the past. still, hopefully soon they will be able to detect them...

jagex have a code for everything (iteams,movement eg)

 

 

 

so everytime you click its traced, just like how they can prove if you took somthing away in a trade.

 

 

 

they are able to catch almost all bots by tracking all actions to the server, the code would probibly look a little like: move.(50032,54902) or something like that, then commands like chop.tree1 (terms in a visual basic form) and they look to see if there is any alteration in the pattern, if one player does the exact same thing for hours, the program sends in a report.

No, this method isn't really effective, since people most likely will have public chat off when woodcutting, or preoccupying themselves another way, rather than staring at a screen as their character hacks a tree with an axe...

 

 

 

In a nut shell, it's quite obvious to spot out a macroer:

 

 

 

1. Appearance-Most macroers have the "default" appearance, which is bald headed, white skinned, tanned torso and green pants, sometimes facial hair is present. However most macroers now wear the clothing obtained from random events, most common is the camo outfit.

 

 

 

2. Username-hjgh0210...hmm...quite a strange choice for a username, doesn't look like this person put any time nor effort into creating their username! This is another sign of a macroer, names like "kjhi208" and "hghg5566," are common names among macroers.

 

 

 

3. Actions-Most macros take a long time to respond, whether it be a random event or a tree respawning. If you notice a continous streak of ignorance, it's usually a macro.

 

 

 

4. Levels-Ah yes, the common stereotypes of lvl 3's have evolved into a new and "better" age...most macroers you'll notice, are ranged from lvls 3-5, with the rare occasion of a 6+ macroer.

 

 

 

Well that's pretty much it, make sure you report every macro you see, we're taking 'em down one at a time...

That's quite easy to see at the Ess Mines. Some of them now wear a bronze sword and a wooden shield so that they can survive against muggers.

killing bots is technically against the rules but just like jagex cant tell if ur macroing, they cant detect you breaking the rules by "luring" a bot to death

 

 

 

If it really is another player, then they wouldnt fall for it.

 

 

 

I usually click a tree or fish spot then watch tv for a few min before checking bak. Ive gotten reported numerous times because i didnt answer and when i looked back, i saw "reported, Kingstrong for macroing" and i just say that i was just not paying attention and then they go :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

 

 

 

Its dumb, if you think a person is macroing, then report them. Some people who reported me are still playing and im still using King. Jagex probably doesnt look at all of the reports either....

Try PMing them. Most bots don't have private chat turned off, so if you add them and it shows them as online, send them a message. You can be certain they got it, and you're not really culpable if it turns out (yeah, right) that it wasn't a bot because you tried very hard to get in touch with them to make sure they weren't macroing.

What I did was just go to a F2P world near the willows around port sarim. I wrote down any level 3 with the default look I saw in wordpad, and after writing down for a bit I started to notice patterns; a lot of the same names like zhong####, olol####, ect. Usually if there are multiple people with the same name prefix followed by a set of numbers it's safe to just to outright report them without a word (that's what is known as a "bot family"). Although I didn't report any, I just took a list of 500+ names that I was sure 99% of the time that they were autoers, and sent them into Jagex.
