Fire Cape v. Skill Cape

Capes have become a way of showing off your achievements in Runescape for some time now. I remember when there was only the various colored capes. Then wildy capes were released. The strong characters had the coolest wild capes from deep in the wilderness. Beyond that was the desired white cape of legends. I remember I was a proud man with my legends cape. However, many many more things have filled that slot now. Currently I use an ava. Now the superior capes seem to be Fire Cape and Skill Capes.

 

 

 

Which is more respectable? Some say fire because it is a battle with the highest lvl monster, but people argue that since low lvls aquired them by luring before diagonal movement was added. Others say skill cape is the best, but ppl don't respect them sometimes saying they just paid to get the lvl.

 

 

 

I want to get one. I have not decided which. My highest skill is range at 81. Then smith at 77 and fletch at 73. Seems like fletch cape would be easiest to get. How much time and money would it cost with what method?

 

 

 

Fire cape seems good as well. I have done fight caves twice. First time atking a 360 while letting a 90 hammer me and dieing in the late 20s. The second time I ran out of blood spells and died at 58 when I just couldn't keep my hp up(still had 11 s restores though).

 

 

 

So what should I do? Get fire cape? Skill cape? Fletch? Or what?

If itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s respect you want, either get both 99s in str and att (must be both), or get 99 in magic. Neither of those can just be bought (though magic training can be expensive). Ppl have tendency to respect those skill capes.

It's not just "skillcapes" that are respectable. They each have their own degree of respect.

 

 

 

Going for 99 cooking/fletching will grant you no respect, 99 smithing will get you quite a bit.

 

 

 

Also, buyable doesn't always imply less respectable . Construction is one of the rarest skillcapes and it is buyable

 

 

 

I'm not going to compare each skillcape to the firecape. Which skillcape(s) are you going for?

depends on your cobat lvl i got my firecape at lvl 95 with diagonal moves and quite a lot of ppl told me good job and things like that and i really enjoyed the feeling so if are under 100cb sure get a firecape if you are 100-110cb get a str,atack,defence cape untill 110combat they are prety respective at 110-120 combat you must have a trimed skill cape if you want respect dont wear fletching,cooking capes but wear trimed combat capes or others cept for fletching and cooking.at 120+combat you must have trimed and rare skillcape to get respect something like smithing or herblore.

Well, it seems that the easiest cape to get would be fire cape. As odd as that may seem at my 77 combat. As I said, I got to wave 58 last time. I learned a lot through that adventure and I do not doubt that I will make it to Jad on my next attempt. I will try again with my crystal bows and if i do not succeed then I guess I will try with RXB. I now have have 5 crystal bows of different charges in my bank....

 

 

 

I think I will try sometime this weekend with a 9/10 bow and full.

OR, I can spend a couple months getting a skill cape that is "not respectable." Or go crazy for like a year to get a "good" skill cape. I am feeling fire cape and I will get my range cape in time with a trim from smithing. Someday!

Cooking/fletching each take 2 weeks, not "months"

 

 

 

Smithing cape takes a few months (depending on your income), not a year.

 

 

 

Firecape isn't exactly extremely rare btw. But it is way better than fletching/cooking and probably several other 99s

well it depends how you do your fletching... i made all my bs and then strung all my bows and alched....good way to do both fletching and mage, both respectable capes in my opinion, and if you alch them it works out to be a little bit of profit or at least a very minimal loss.

I must be missing some major RS secrets then cause my stats are all below 90 and I have played for 4 years. I don't just play a little either. I play like 4 or 5 hours a days. I would love to have a 99 even though I will wear the fire cape instead. How do you get all these 99s so fast?

when i didnt have my firecape , i thought of it as the ultimate item in runescape. untradable , and not easy to achieve.

No secret, just simple math. Years ago, having a 99 was something really hard to accomplish. Now, when you think about it, it really depends on the cost and on the hourly exp rate. For cooking, the exp rate is huge, and the cost is fairly minimal (even smaller if you sell your cooked sharks).

 

 

 

In 5 hours a day you can get to 99 in two weeks (maybe a little more, but you have the weekends where you can probably pay a bit more, right?)

 

 

 

If you give it a try you'll notice how easy it is. Then maybe you can go for a harder 99. Or if you really want a challenge you can go for a hard 99 right away, although I wouldn't recommend this, because it makes the 99 seem even harder

fire cape...skill capes all u do is the same thing over and over...fire cape is ALOT!!! harder...u have to pay attention for 1 and half to 2 and half hours...and that can all end if u miss 1 of jads attacks

I think I know what I will do. Buy flax and yew logs and p ess. Make yew bows and high alch to get mage up some for fight caves and after I get fire cape. I will get 99 fletch. Then work on 99 range and mage. What do you think?

99 range with 99 mage are good pking stats. :)

I think I'll give my advice even though I'm f2p...

 

The #1 cape is Slayer.

 

The #2 cape is Construction.

 

The #3 cape is (I don't really know...)

 

And to the person who said to string bows and alch, Fletching capes aren't rare, they're pathetically common.

That sounds like a plan : . 99 fletching is not hard, it should serve as a perfect warm up. 99 range/mage are relatively easy but respected because they allow to become a mass killing machine.

I respect a mining cape above any other accomplishment, because there is no way whatsoever to have anyone else help you mine (other than having runners which seems rare), and there is no reward whatsoever for achieving over level 90 or so (at least by 90 you can start getting addy fast and rune a bit faster). I have only ever seen one mining cape, and it was being worn by a level 126 player who exclusively spoke French...

Fire cape for stats no doubt. But if you including the "respect" you get from the cape your wearing then it would be only a few skill capes. Firecapes are pretty darn common among 100+s, even some pures. I remember when I achieved my firecape at 96 combat over a year ago, back then It was a big deal, but now its easy to get one with all these methods. (I am aware with the monsters moving diagonally its near impossible for pures but still attainable).

 

 

 

Firecape > fletching\cooking

 

 

 

Firecape < pretty much every other than those 2.

 

 

 

I even look down to those who pc'ed their combat stats dramatically.

I look at both capes the same way except for fletching and cooking i think fire cape and skill capes are the same respect from me.

you have to respect meele skills coz pc is not good now as it used to be i already have firecape going for 99strenght and then 99atack with these 3capes at 114combat im prety sure ill be respected O:)

Any skill cape except cooking and fletching is respectable, but fire cape is still better imo.

i personally respect all capes that are fire or skill. Even if you do buy it, you need to donate a lot of time to get that particular. Remember, level 93 is only half the journey!

 

 

 

Personally, I think Fire Cape will get you most respect, out of the skills you wann get to 99 (except smithing)

I find this discussion very interesting. I still like my last choice. I think smithing cape will be pretty rad but that will just take time. I don't like melee, personally. So I think the capes are cool but not for me.

 

 

 

Fire cape seems to be good for me and I will be proud to get one at 77. I just need to get prayer switches down for Jad which I think I understand pretty well. Healers scare me though with only 50 def.

Cooking? Yes. Fletching? No.

 

 

 

The "String all" update cut fletching's xp per hour dramatically. Last I checked fletching is 70-80k per hour. Cooking is over 200k.

 

 

 

If you want a respected and fast skillcape, try prayer. It's xp rate is above cooking, but it is alot more expensive.

I don't really care about those little cooking and fletch. I am one lvl 1 away from hp 99 and str 99 now...
