Aberrant Spectres

Featured Replies

Ok, for some reason I really hate these things and always Burthorpe them when I get for slayer. I've tried different tactics including using pray bonus equipment but I don't seem to last very long without using lots of p pots. I'm poor so I don't have the fancy gear but my stats are:

70 atk

72 str

70 def

80 range

64 magic

58 prayer

Any suggestions?

Use initate/prosylete armor with your weapon of choice.

prayer bonus equipment + a little more then 1 full prayer pot lasts me long enough for a full invent of herbs and a decent amount of kills. i usually just use monk robes and a stole for the prayer bonus.

There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth.

maybe I'll try it again but I haven't really been able to hang in there that long with the prayer gear. maybe I'm too low level?

Go with monk robes (if you dont have proselyte), take 6-8 pray pots and you will easily cover the costs from the ranarr drops. For the average task I use about 9 pray pots, A super attack and a super strength. This is about 80k. But from the drops (and I dont even bank which many do), I make easily 150-200k.

What really helps is the salve ammy. It increases you strength and attack by 15%.

Also, if possible use attack pots and strength boosting pots. You could also try the d b axe special and a restore pot, then super attack pot. Two cheap pots that really make a difference.

You can see my stats in my sig. I wear prostelyte body and skirt, use salve ammy (e) and super str and atk pots. I use approx 3 prayer pots (4) in order to get a decent inventory full. Drop any herbs, harralander or below.

You will get more ranarrs than prayer pots you use.

They my favorite ones, i not use prayer to kill they :)

I love aberrant sceptres, because they are undeads and i can use salve amulet (e) with they which give 20% str and attack bonus against undeads, because i must use nosepeg i can't use black mask, but i get better str and attack bonus then with black mask with they :)

Equipment:

Helm - Nosepeg

Ammy - Salve Amulet (e);

Body - Black dragonhide body - You can use Karils body if you have;

Legs - Black dragonhide chaps - You can use Karils legs/skirt (dunno good) if you have;

Boots - Some mystic boots for magic def;

Gloves - Barrows gloves from Recipe Of Disaster (they i think not less magic def and hight melee bonus;

1h Weapon Whip or DScimmy - depends what combat skill i train;

Shield - Mind Elemental shield;

Damage boosting:

1. Dragon Battleaxe

2. Restore pot

3. Super attack pot

4. Switch to Scimmy or whip..

Food:

Almost lobsters or Monkfishes depends what you have in bank, bank is near this tower and not big problem to get to bank for next food load i almost fill all my inventory with highter then marentill hebrs get some ranarrs, kwarms, tarronims and lava battlestaffs :)

Suggestion: You can use Anchor on Waterfiends - is cheap if to compare to GS & effective with crush attack & it hit like Whip.

Depending on how many you have for your task, about 10 p pots should be enough. And the ranarr drops will easily cover the pots used. Just get your prayer bonus up quite high. Wear proselyte/initiate with an unholy book and salve ammy if you have one. They're quite an easy and profitable task when you get used to them.

great stuff all. Now I can't wait to get this assignment again. I've gotta get the salve ammy in the meantime - never did Haunted Mines!

Thanks!

My set-up:

head - nosepeg of course!

amulet - salve (e) -> best option against undead

body - monk robe -> only proselyte is better

legs - monk legs -> only proselyte is better

feet - rune boots -> str bonus, could also be climbers

weapon -> whip/d scimmy depends on training method, DDS optional.

shield - rune defender -> attack boost

ring - wealth ->could use berserker, but you said you were poor... :o

Inventory: house teleport, 2 prayer pots (4), super attack and super strength potion. Holy wrench is optional (quest involved).

Basically, get as high possible prayer, attack/strength boost. Aberrant spectres drop tons of herbs, I keep ranarr and up, take all seeds I get. When I have afull inventory, I fight till I have no prayer left, then house teleport and charge prayer -> canifis portal -> bank.

I usually use 1-1.5 pots until I teleport, ending up with 2+ ranarrs ALL THE TIME!. Not the fastest, I think almost most profitable way of dealing with these marvellous ceatures.
