Ps3 vs. Xbox 360

FPS aren't the only games i like. i don't mind third person shooter either.

I pretty much like any sort of game.(apart from sport games)

360 can't do anything apart from xbox live and break down.

Who said you need a xbox360 to enjoy online? :?

I don't care about other things. all my need is to actually play online!

And all i need for that is a game like Warhawk.

if you want to play multiplayer FPS .. PC! console fpses dont even come close to being as good as PC fps. I'm CS:S the god of all online FPS (and yes it is, like it or not.. you've gotta admit it is) and TF2! and pretty much anything steam related.

i'd get a 360 over a ps3 though.

Very true. The only TRUE great online experience

If you like RPG's/Adventures, I'd say hold off on buying one of the consoles until more games come out. So far, I haven't seen any spectacular of either of those genres on either console. But both FFXIII titles coming to PS3 will most likely be sweeeeeet. Plus, MGS4 and Home. Take some time to look at the possibilities, don't rush into buying one. Though there are more games out for the 360 now, you never know what games could be coming out on PS3 in the next 2-3 years. I'll probably be buying a PS3 sometime in the near future.

And has everyone forgotten about Project Offset?! I think it's supposed to come out for the PS3, and you'd probably like that game.

I would pick a PS3 because it has some very fun games, it has way more features than a 360

"Some" fun games with the ps3 as opposed to the "many" fun games of the 360. Matter of fact, I can only think of resistance as a fun ps3 exclusive, all others you can get on the 360.

As for features, really, there aren't any you need. I mean, try googling "ps3 features" like I tried once, and it won't even turn up anything useful. To be perfectly honest, the only useful feature is the backward compatibility (it's not a compliment, I'm saying you're better of playing ps2 games). And that's just the old 60gb one, with the 80gb version's compromised backwards compatability (and the 40gb doesn't have one at all), it's hardly any good.

and its also a lot more reliable.

Debatable. Unless of course you talk about the red ring of death, which I don't think is much of a problem anymore.

Oh and i do dare say resistance is still best the shooting game i have ever played.

I dare say resistance is the only shooting game you've played. If you're in for shooting games, get the 360. Well actually...If you're in for any genre, don't get the ps3, get the 360 (or the Wii).

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

I'd agree with CS being the best if it wasn't full of [cabbage] and being able to shoot through brick walls with a hand gun kind of crap.

i own the 360 elite and ps3 60 gig that first came out. to be honest, most of 360's good exclusive titles are fps like halo, orange box, bioshock, gears of war, mass effect. not sure about you guys but that's not really all i want to play. i'm not saying ps3 has a better line up but i've played enough fps on 360 that my brain is going to explode :wall:

saying that, i can't really pick out a standout ps3 exclusive either. i've played heavenly sword, resistance, and folklore and they aren't something to rush to the store and buy a ps3 for.

ps3 has alot more to offer if you go into it. free wifi is a big one for me. i had to buy 360 internet adapter which made the price for 360 go to $550 and a recharge station for $20 which makes it more expensive than the current ps3 80 gig. now add more for online play and try to say it's because the ps3 costs more. Not only that but if you have the psp, you can do alot more with your ps3, soon you can play your ps3 games on your psp away from home if both are connected online. it has remote play with psp already.

ps3 is going to add rumble back to the controllers also. at this current point and time, i'd get a 360. when mgs4 and ff 13 comes out though, i'll be glad i have a ps3

360 is now

ps3 is future

What?

If you want to play FPSs, I'm sure most would agree if I said go and get a PC. I've played FPSs on Xbox and PC....I'd say PC is MUCH better for FPSs.

The 360 comes close though. Gears of War, Half Life 2 and it's many, many spawn, Call of Duty series.....

And Henman, is the only game you've ever played Resistance or are you just a Ps3 fanboy? I dare say that Call of Duty 3 was better than Resistance..just my opinion though. And Half Life 2 was probably the greatest FPS I've ever played. And before someone says it...Halo doesn't come close to touching Half Life 2. It's good, but not as good as HL: 2.

I'm thinking about getting a PS3 for XMas. And just buy a game or two and then wait until GTA4 comes out and then be in gaming heaven. Honestly, I was reading about what is in the new GTA, and it sounds like it's going to be one of the greatest games you can ever play.

At most a console has one and if your lucky maybe two good sometimes only decent games at launch. Giving up on a console so early on is ridiculous, especially one with so much promise as the PS3; Devil May Cry 4, Heavenly Sword, FFXIII, Killzone, MGS4 these are the types of games that will define the PS3. . Again bare in mind the 360 has seen a year on the shelfs and only now is it starting to see some defining titles, namely Gears of War, Halo 3.

What people forget is the the Blu-Ray drive is not for movies alone but for games that require the superior space a Blu-Ray offers (25Gb single, 50Gb double). Think about that for a minute. A DVD holds around 9Gb on a dual layer, now think of GTA: San Andreas...now think of the potential of a superior console combined with an extra 41Gb of space and you get the picture; wether it be GTA4 (note: exclusive 360 content likely to be the stuff that wont fit on the disk) or any other game for that matter. Hold it a second you say, the 360 has an HD DVD add-on drive does it not? Correct, however microsoft has stated it is merely for high definition movies; thus either the problem remains of inferior data storage, or, microsoft haven't yet dropped the bomb that in the future you will require the HD DVD drive to play certain games.

The main niggle I can see with the PS3 is the hefty price tag (of the 60Gb version at least), but what must be taken into cosideration is that a Blu-Ray player alone (movies only obviously) will cost around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1000 already making the PS3 sound like a steal. Furthermore however, when you think that to bring the 360 to similar spec as the PS3 it will cost you around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã460 (̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã280 for the premium pack, ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã130 for the HD DVD Drive + ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã50 for the WiFi adapter) compared to the PS3's price of ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã425 - ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã480 (and thats with a 60Gb hard drive and a state of the art not yet on the shelves CPU (The Cell) and GPU (nVidia's RSX)) and you can see the PS3 is infact, if anything, quite cheap to be honest (remember sony makes a loss of around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã120 on every PS3 sold at the moment, so we should be thankful!).

You should judge the consoles towards the end of its life not as soon as its hit the shelf.

Just to try and make the vs. a bit more even.

As far as exclusives out now, the only big ones the PS3 has are Resistance and Ratchet and Clank. Now personally, I played Resistance for a while and while it was fun, it wasn't amazing. Ratchet and Clank though....I'm a huge fan for those games. I was shocked when I saw that it wasn't going to be online though...R&C:UYA was the game that got me into online gaming.

Now for all you people arguing on which is really better. I have both systems and my 360 is just gathering dust. Really there are only two great games for the 360 which is Gears of War and Halo 3. Is it worth spending so much money for two games plus the money for Live. Which console really cost more? And which one is the better deal? I will break it down for you.

I am going by the prices for when I had bought both of these systems.

Xbox 360:

The Console w/ one controller : $400

Wireless Adapter: $100

HD DvD player: $200

Xbox live one year membership: $50

10 GB Hard Drive: Built-in

Total: $750

So now the 360 with all it's accessories already cost more than PS3's starting price.

PS3:

The console w/ one controller: $600

Wireless adapter: Built-in

Blu-ray player: Built-in

Online play: Free

60 GB Hard-Drive: Built in

USB ports and Memory Card Ports: Built in

Total: $600

Alright so you now know that the price difference great but which is really worth it? You have to look at the specs of each System and look at how much each piece cost.

Xbox 360: http://hardware.teamxbox.com/articles/xbox/1144/The-Xbox-360-System-Specifications/p1

PS3: http://playstation.about.com/od/ps3/a/PS3SpecsDetails_3.htm

Now Blu-Ray DvD's have a much better resolution than HD-Dvd's and they even hold more space.

A Blu-Ray DvD player goes for $500+

A Hd-Dvd player goes for $250 +

Now on to Graphics, if anyone says that the 360 has better graphics, please go and get your eyes checked.

Now think which console gives a better deal and look for the upcoming games coming out for each console. Yeah PS3 may not have that great titles out right now but they are coming. Right now Warhawk is amazing and Gran Turismo 5 and GTA IV are coming out in the next year. Those two games are going to be a huge hit. The 360 has two good games but aren't super amazing which are Halo 3 and GoW.

The PS3 just blows away the 360.

Sorry but no, let me break it down for you.

Xbox 360:

The Console w/ one controller : $400

Wireless Adapter: $100 Not needed unless you really need wireless

HD DvD player: $200 Not needed

Xbox live one year membership: $50

10 GB Hard Drive: Built-in

Total: $750 $450 without HD DvD player + Adapter

PS3:

The console w/ one controller: $600

Wireless adapter: Built-in

Blu-ray player: Built-in

Online play: Free

60 GB Hard-Drive: Built in

USB ports and Memory Card Ports: Built in

Total: $600

Now Blu-Ray DvD's have a much better resolution than HD-Dvd's and they even hold more space.

A Blu-Ray DvD player goes for $500+

A Hd-Dvd player goes for $250 +

Thats great, but until I see some great advantages of Blue-ray over HD DvD (other than for movies) I don't think its worth the hike in price. I know a couple devs are going to use a lot of the space (I.E MGS4) but thats just lending down to lazy coding and compression. (non-compressed audio files, ect.)

Now on to Graphics, if anyone says that the 360 has better graphics, please go and get your eyes checked.

FPS Differences between 360 and PS3

PS3 versus Xbox 360

Now think which console gives a better deal and look for the upcoming games coming out for each console. Yeah PS3 may not have that great titles out right now but they are coming. Right now Warhawk is amazing and Gran Turismo 5 and GTA IV are coming out in the next year. Those two games are going to be a huge hit. The 360 has two good games but aren't super amazing which are Halo 3 and GoW.

You keep naming GoW and Halo 3 as the only good games on the system, and thats a complete lie. Look at countless other threads, there are many good games out for the system.

You than mention GTA IV, which if you didn't know Rockstar said that gamers will have a better experience on the 360 than PS3. Might want to chalk that off.

GT5? Come on...

The 360 has Mass effect coming out within the next 2 (IIRC) weeks which is certain to be an amazing RPG, and standalone to the 360 at that.

The only exclusives PS3 has coming out in the future is GT5, MGS4, FF13 and maybe another one I have forgotten. Those are, in complete honesty, the only games that have a chance of redeeming the PS3. Currently the only real exclusives worth it are the ones I noted in an earlier post, which IIIRC came down to 3 current ones out.

The PS3 just blows away the 360.

Negative.

Wait! Let me clear up a few things...

Everthing i say here is a FACT!

1. Right now it the 360 with the better graphics.True

2. If you compared the 360 and PS3 in terms of price.

The 360s price is too high for what it contains compared with the PS3.True

3.Both systems have good games. I'm sure the 360 has more than two good exclusives and the PS3 has some other good ones.True

How so? The 360's hardware is great. While it may not have the raw potential (notice I said raw) of the PS3 it currently and still will have nearly equal graphical power as the PS3 will be able to get up to. In a perfect world where devs could take advantage of all 7 cores easy, than perhaps the PS3 could pull ahead better. Right now though the 360 is a great deal for the money.

3.Both systems have good games. I'm sure the 360 has more than two good exclusives and the PS3 has some other good ones.True

the 360 does have more than two good exclusives, correct.

I can't really count many good exlcusives on the PS3 (currently). Please note I am talking about released games only -- not upcoming games. The PS3 maybe has 3-4 good exclusives right now worth buying for the system.
