Ps3 vs. Xbox 360

different times, different prices

 

 

 

i bought the 360 elite for $449 and the ps3 60 gig for $699

 

yes i do need the wireless because i do not want to drill holes through my wall. so add another 100 to elite, $549. Rechargable battery +$20 for the 360. live membership +$50. the stuff i added is stuff included free with the ps3.

 

Ends up over $600. though i don't need the extra memory, i bought the elite version because the manager at game stop told me it will not have the red ring of death problem. true enough, i haven't experienced any such problems

 

 

 

still less than what i paid for my ps3 but now with the new version of the ps3, it's prices are $399 for 40 gig and $499 for 80 gig.

 

to be honest, i've used like like 4 gig out of the 120 from the elite and maybe 10 gig out of my ps3.

 

there's a point when you don't really need so much :-$

 

 

 

mass effect is coming out but who really knows how good it will do? i haven't played a demo of it personally so i have no idea. when i saw folklore trailers from e3, i thought the game would be the next big hit. you get to yank the id out of their body using motion from the sixaxis controller and beautiful cutscenes, sadly it didn't live up to my or anyone elses expectations. i'm gonna go ahead and buy mass effect just because it has good reviews, unfortunately i don't have so much free time to go researching all the new games so i just pick out what others say are good or from what i see on trailers.

 

 

 

btw, i can stream movies, pics, music, and vids saved on my ps3 on my psp through wifi while i'm at work, class, or the toilet :XD:

 

if people actually use the ps3 to it's fullest, it can be well worth your money. hardcore gamers, stick with the 360

How so? The 360's hardware is great. While it may not have the raw potential (notice I said raw) of the PS3 it currently and still will have nearly equal graphical power as the PS3 will be able to get up to. In a perfect world where devs could take advantage of all 7 cores easy, than perhaps the PS3 could pull ahead better. Right now though the 360 is a great deal for the money.

I can't really count many good exlcusives on the PS3 (currently). Please note I am talking about released games only -- not upcoming games. The PS3 maybe has 3-4 good exclusives right now worth buying for the system.

 

 

 

Not really a great deal for the features contained in it:

 

 

 

PS3 40Gb is ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã300(Don't know the american price)

 

Xbox360Premium is ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã250

 

Features on the PS3 what the 360 doesn't contain:

 

Built in WiFi

 

A Blue ray player(HD DVD for the 360)

 

 

 

If you were to buy those features for the 360, the cost would be more than the PS3s launch price which was ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã400.

 

 

 

Also the 360s price compared with the PS3s is too much for what it contains. The 360 is only ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã50 less!And the PS3 has two more expensive features.Too make it worth the money, microsoft will have to make a price cut.

 

 

 

So before it was PS3 which had a high price.

 

Now if you do the math, its actually the 360 which is too much compared with its so called "expensive rival"

I've already got some holes drilled behind the desk in my room for an ethernet cable to my computer....all I have to do is snake another one through there, connect to 360, and I just saved $100.

Now Blu-Ray DvD's have a much better resolution than HD-Dvd's and they even hold more space.

Thats great, but until I see some great advantages of Blue-ray over HD DvD (other than for movies) I don't think its worth the hike in price. I know a couple devs are going to use a lot of the space (I.E MGS4) but thats just lending down to lazy coding and compression. (non-compressed audio files, ect.)

 

 

 

 

 

Now on to Graphics, if anyone says that the 360 has better graphics, please go and get your eyes checked.

Now think which console gives a better deal and look for the upcoming games coming out for each console. Yeah PS3 may not have that great titles out right now but they are coming. Right now Warhawk is amazing and Gran Turismo 5 and GTA IV are coming out in the next year. Those two games are going to be a huge hit. The 360 has two good games but aren't super amazing which are Halo 3 and GoW.

 

 

 

You keep naming GoW and Halo 3 as the only good games on the system, and thats a complete lie. Look at countless other threads, there are many good games out for the system.

Nothing wrong with that game at all. It's just the best Real Life Simulation for a console.

 

 

 

 

 

The 360 has Mass effect coming out within the next 2 (IIRC) weeks which is certain to be an amazing RPG, and standalone to the 360 at that.

 

 

 

 

 

The only exclusives PS3 has coming out in the future is GT5, MGS4, FF13 and maybe another one I have forgotten. Those are, in complete honesty, the only games that have a chance of redeeming the PS3. Currently the only real exclusives worth it are the ones I noted in an earlier post, which IIIRC came down to 3 current ones out.

I've been following this topic forever, and it's been funny.

 

 

 

I've been wanting to jump in and say "henman shut up! You lose, Nadril wins!" But then you'd start trailing about how the PS3 is "Almighty," how it has "Blu-ray and everything built in," and has these all powerful exclusives that you never mention. At least Nadril does that much. -.-

 

 

 

Point: PS3 has nothing good going for it, and Sony needs to recover from their mistake. And you never know, it may or may not happen. But it's losing, just accept that fact NOW. Plus, 360 has the games Nadril mentioned, which is at east 3 times the amount of PS3 games. Hardware wise, PS3 may have everything built in, but it's so overpacked with this [cabbage] you don't need. I'd rather get a 360 and it's many wires than deal with that. But whatever.

Both Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Rachet and Clank have done well in the last little bit, as well as PS3 having it's fair share of cross-platform games (Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, F.E.A.R. etc.). Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Resistance and Warhawk are all capable games as well.

 

 

 

But PS3 still has the future games to bank on. I'm talking the huge followings of Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, SOCOM, and to a lesser extent Killzone. There's no way the PS3 will completely flunk this generation; it might fall behind the 360 or maybe just lose its monstrous lead, but there's no way it's going to fail. And the Wii is essentially a different kind of product from the 360 and the PS3, so it shouldn't really be counted (plus: The Wii's future looks grim, once we get past the huge boosts Galaxy and Brawl will give it, there just isn't the 3rd party support there. There's only so many Mario, Zelda and Metroid games you can put out, and there needs to be better third party support if it wants to keep its sales hot.)

Meh. The PS3 has potential, simple as that, and I'll give it that. But developers have a hard time with programming, which isn't good. It started slow, it's continuing as so, but the future might allow the PS3 to finally catch on.

Assassins creed was brought to the 360 I thought.

 

 

 

F.E.A.R. I thought was a PC only game. Huh, never new it was on the PS3. Pretty cool. (I'd stick with PC, though. Better graphics and easier to play imo)

 

 

 

Heavenly Sword...To me, looks like a spinoff of God of War, with a female character and all. This is my opinion, though. From any and all screens and previews I've watched at gamestop or some other gaming stores it gave me this impression.

 

 

 

Lastly, Resistance. Henmans only game mention. :wink: Eh, playing it over my cousins bores me after two hours, whereas we break out the 360. Resistance is a pretty good FPS, but not the best imo.

And the Wii is essentially a different kind of product from the 360 and the PS3, so it shouldn't really be counted (plus: The Wii's future looks grim, once we get past the huge boosts Galaxy and Brawl will give it, there just isn't the 3rd party support there. There's only so many Mario, Zelda and Metroid games you can put out, and there needs to be better third party support if it wants to keep its sales hot.)

Why is the Wii different? Bear in mind it's still a console, and it's been part of the Console wars (Although there have been fanboys saying it sucks and deny it any part). It's a console. So why isn't it even part of it? It should be considered. Nintendo is [probably] the most respected companies of gaming since it's first system. It has many acknowledged games (i.e., Zelda, Metroid, Mario, already mentioned but anyway). This bolded part in particular reminds me of Sony the most; they said it was a Novelty, and the fanboys followed and that's how it spread, despite the damn console tripling it's sales. It's annoying to hear the 360 crazed nuts who constantly say the Wii sucks and so does Nintendo, when they've never even touched a Nintendo game in their life, nevermind held a controller or looked at a screen.

 

 

 

The Wii's future doesn't look grim, my friend. Fun games don't have to be Zelda, Mario, or Metroid related at all. I enjoy a good game of Trauma Center. The Pokemon games are fun to play a lot. I was one of the few whom enjoyed Redsteel (dunno 'bout others). With the new trauma center on it's way the 20th, and with it's many fans, the series will continue and ttruck on. From what I hear, Warioware games shall always be fun. (Cooking mama, too! :P ) Plus, DDR just came out for it's own exclusive on the Wii, and Guitar hero (although not exclusive and multisystem) is on it as well. Prince of Persia is fun from time to time. And to finish off, the thing can play Gamecube games, allowing you to extend your gaming library beyond a Wii library.

 

 

 

So, to me, dunno. The future may or may not be grim. From seeing it eye-to-eye now, it looks pretty damn good. :)

But that's just it; it's your opinion, therefore stick with it. You're correct, good luck changing someone's mind if they really [currently] dislike the console. But looking at it, the library needs polishing, and like I said before, Sony needs to fix their mistake of the wrongs they did with their PS3. They've gotten to a good fixing start. But now the PS3 needs to compete with it's competitors, get a couple of developers back from their stray, get better games, then beat their chests and boast. I'd like to clear this up about the Ps3 price. All Ps3 consoles are sold by Sony at a loss. They sell the console for less that what all its' components are worth. This is part of their marketing technique, they make sure people get access to the console more easily, then they rely on the selling of games as their source of income. A very bold, and dangerous move. Henman is right when he says you get more for you money when buying a Ps3, but that doesn't even matter, wanna know why? The Ps3 is unable to fully utilize its' power, and it will be unable to do so for atleast a few years until the software catches up with it, that's what the president of Sony confirmed.

 

 

 

So, the Ps3 is really a console to buy for the future. It's a gamble. Buy it right now in the hopes it outruns the Xbox 360 in a few years, or pick what you know works, the Xbox360?
