Ps3 vs. Xbox 360

I'm thinking of asking for either one of those at Xmas.

 

 

 

A) I checked a local store's online website and they got different prices for some with higher hardware,"pro", etc.. What's the diffence between those more expensive versions and the normal versions?

 

 

 

B) What kind of type of games does each console focus on most? I'm more of an adventure/rpg guy.

 

 

 

C) Which one you think is better?

 

 

 

And feel free to post some links if you don't want to explain it.

A) I'm not so sure about the Ps3, except I know that a big issue is Hard Drive space. I think it goes down to 40 GB. As for the 360, the Core Edition has only the 360. The Xbox 360 Premium/Pro has the 20GB Hard Drive, and there is now a deal that includes 2 free games and a hardware upgrade of some sort. The 360 Elite has a 120 GB Hard Drive, updated Hardware, a cool-looking black finish, among other features.

 

 

 

B) I dont know much about the Ps3's lineup..I stopped paying attention a while back. The 360 has a variety of First Person Shooters, and there are a few adventure games there also. I think there are a few RPGS.

 

 

 

C) I personally think the 360 is better. I could go into a huge explanation, but it'd go off topic. I say 360 though.

A) For a 'good' 360 it costs $400, for a 'good' PS3 it is $500 (I want to say now.)

 

 

 

Sony had price cuts on the PS3 but the cheaper model they made sucks. No backwards compatability, less hard drive space, ect.

 

 

 

 

 

B) both kind of dabble in any kinds. Right now the 360's library obliverates the PS3's library in any way so its a better choice. It also has a great RPG coming out (Mass effect) that is exclusive to the console.

 

 

 

Anyone who thinks that the PS3's library (currently) is better is just a fanboy. I'm not saying that it won't change in the future but there isn't much out there (exclusive to PS3) that is worth it. MGS4 is coming out soon and thats all I've seen.

 

 

 

C) If you can't tell, 360. PS3 is not as powerful as it (in theory, it is, but in practice its an entirely different story) and the 360's library has simply had much more time to mature.

A) To the best of my knowledge, the hardware is relatively well matched between the 360 and PS3. The main difference between the Premium and Elite versions appears to be the harddrive capacity - 20 and 120 gigs respectively. However, the 120 gigs should only be required if you have a lot of music you want to upload - like, in excess of 100 CDs.

 

 

 

B) I don't think either console focuses on a particular genre more than the other - they seem to give a pretty even, comprehensive coverage of FPS, sport, RPG etc.

 

 

 

C) I've played the 360 and PS3 (the latter on a demo only, though), and I'm more inclined to get the 360 due to price and games.

 

 

 

Ultimately, this console race (and most others) comes down to titles. If the GTA franchise was kept exclusive to Sony, and GTA IV was only being released on the PS3, I'd be inclined to say the PS3 would 'win' this generation, or at least be leading at this point of time.

 

 

 

Now, I personally want to get a 360 for the following reasons:

 

 

 

1) It appears to be less expensive (by at least $100AU) than the PS3

 

2) The PS3 doesn't appear to have any major hardware advantages over it

 

3) GTA IV - if you're a big GTA fan, you'll want the 360. Rockstar will be releasing two packages of 'episodic content' at some point after the initial release. These are essentially expansion packs, but are apparently really big ones - they are said to add a bare minimum of 10 hours of extra gameplay, plus I imagine they'll enhance the whole experience. That's enough to woo me, but there do seem to be more perks.

 

 

 

Halo 3 - this might not fall under your adventure/RPG umbrella but does indeed seem to be the game of choice amongst 360 fans, though I'm not sure if I believe the hype.

 

 

 

Now, the rest of my knowledge on games are limited, but after a quick browse, the following are some exclusive ones that may cater to your tastes:

A. i don't know the prices of the 360 or ps3 in america.Xbox 360 premium is ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã350. PS3 60GB is ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã350. PS3 40GB. The 40GB is the 60Gb with out the backwards compatability because some people were complaining about the price and now the moan about no compatibility.??i'm confused.

 

 

 

B. If you like rpgs then either system is fine. Each system has good game which are different in a way. If you like FPS then you should go with a PS3.

 

 

 

C. if you want a console than can do a lot then the choice is definatly the PS3.If u like good games then both systems have that.

 

When i decided to get a console my oringinal vote was the 360 because i had read how the PS3 was a big failure but when i bought it...

If you have a good PC: get a PS3. If you don't have a good PC, get a 360. This is because every important game on 360 is or will be on PC, save for perhaps Mass Effect (which will likely come to PC). Most Sony exclusives never come to PC. And as of right now, 360 has a somewhat better library of games unavailable to PS3 (I'm thinkin'...GOW and Bioshock). The Wii has the weakest library though, and unless you're into Mario/Smash Brothers, it doesn't look like its going to change all that much.
