is jagex trying to rid rs fansites?

Featured Replies

Hmmm...I could see how you think that, but personally, I don't think they are.

Notice that the things that you mentioned (Clan Chat, Grand Exchange) are actually things that users begged, and begged, and begged more, and still kept begging, and were disappionted in any Behind the Scenes that didn't have it in there, and then begged even more for? It wasn't a matter of Jagex trying to rid fansites, it was a matter of fulfilling what players wanted.

What does the Grand Exchange have to do with getting rid of fan sites? lol!

The arguments said in your post are completely irrelevant. What Jagex is trying to do, is make their home and official site more complete so players can find whatever answers to their gaming problems right there, without having to go to other sites for help.

They're not trying to stop us from using it though. They won't - lol.

Only because some of them give viruses to players.

I think it would be a wise move of jagex to declare tip it(or maybe runehq, or both) officially safe fansites, this would prevent people from googling for fan sites and finding scamming ones. They could also provide tips for the players who go to the "official" sites so they can't get hacked even if the forums usernames and passes get stolen.

That would be great, unfortunately official in their book means they have control over it, and they don't have complete control over tip.it. (and if they decide to, we gotta hide all garbage in rants forum

Jagex are offering an alternative so that people don't have to be forced off site, they are in no way trying to get rid of them, but are attempting to protect the community by offering all they can in house.

I think one of the many reasons for the Grand Exchange is to reduce pressure on the main RS forums. It'll also help avoid scamming.

Jagex definately aren't supportive of fan sites, but this definately isn't a move against them.
