I've been trying to get better at hardcore instead of normal recently. My setup:

 

 

 

 

 

Silenced M4 Carbine

 

Silenced 1911 (I think thats it)

 

 

 

Perk1: (haven't decided yet, claymores atm)

 

Perk2: UAV Jammer

 

Perk3: Steady Aiming

 

 

 

 

 

I keep getting killed by random nades everywhere though, not used to having to be more careful, used to it showing you where they were on normal, lol.

 

 

 

I despise Hardcore, just because I use a G3, and I always get blasted in 68 places before I squeeze off a single shot.

 

 

 

Hint to you, When you unlock it, replace your Claymores with Fragx3. And keep away from Wet Work... so many 'nade spammers. :ohnoes:

The prestige mode is a good smack talk mode.I keep getting smack talk over voice chat(which doesnt really happen over psn) to go prestige.

 

 

 

oh btw what are youre favourite maps?Mines crash with the crashed helicopter in the middle and that big tower.Its a great map in headquarters because of all the buildings and when the hq is in teh tower and you can get their first you can turn the whole game around.

 

 

 

My other one is shipment which is such a cliche map with crates everwhere :roll: but the fact that its such a tight map and youre always racking up kills is so fun.My highest is 130+ kills with 15 deaths on that map(once you get the helicopters in and get youre uav up youre getting tonnes of kills)

Overgrown is one of my favourites, but my all time favourite is Vacant. Although with marydom it can get a bit annoying, although makes it more fun tbh... Also like Bog and Downpour, there's also one more can't remember it's name, it's the one where on the campaign you go to stop the nukes...

Ehh... not quite the best hardcore setup [because your using an m4]

 

I'm not sure how different cod4 is for the comp, but quite possibly the best gun for hardcore is the g3 by far. It can kill in 1 or 2 shots in hardcore, is extremely accurate, and very powerful. Single shot shouldn't be a problem with a mouse, especially since you can control your own speed and mouses can click awfully fast.

 

The m4 is a terrible weapon: extremely underpowered and somewhat inaccurate. Although it has little recoil, you can waste over half a clip on someone to find them not dead [but it is hardcore, so I suppose you wouldn't have that problem.]

 

 

 

Also, grenades x3 is your best choice for perk 1.

Don't have grenade x3 yet.

 

 

 

 

 

Also don't have a silencer for the G3 yet, too lazy to get it atm. I like the m4 better though personally -- it kills fast in HC.

I quite like shipment.A good sniper can get a few good kills on the gantrys and when the laptop spawns in the bridge rooms at either end its perfect for snipers to pick them off.

 

 

 

Speaking of snipers i hate how kill cam nerfs them.Even the best snipers get blown to bits after 4-5 kills because theyve spawned and theyve gone chasing you down.

 

 

 

Id love a sniper exclusive perk which gets rid of kill cam on them because it almost defeats the nature of them.You spend all tht time laying down on that spot, making you a sitting duck and when teh player who was target views the kill cam they know where he is.

oh and as i said earlier i played a team deathmatch game earlier in vacant and i got seriousley ganked for not going prestige.i got 58 kills and 40+ deaths :oops: :P Still not going prestige im not that enamered with the game

The problem is though youre sluggish as hell.With most players opting to be super agile youre typical player can get to shooting distance in a few seconds and the snipers usually within the area.The only way snipers work effectivly is if you get a man to cover them or load the hell up on clay mores and plant them on all entry points yet theyre gonna come back knowing you have no more claymores.Not only that but if you play multiplayer shooters like this you will know that grenades are used in such abundance.If you see the grendae warning sign whilst looking down youre scope youve had it.

 

 

 

Anyway sipers are way underpowered in my oppinion and apart from a few maps with open areas and visible choke points from a distance you never really see them racking up the kill count(although you could argue that snipers are tactical classes and are designed to setup traps).Knowing Infinity Ward we probably wont see a patch rectifying this and its so disspointing after i and many others were complaining about this during the cod4 beta.

The only loss for the sniper class is that there are no sniper maps or maps that are long range. They are not underpowered whatsoever, and can easily kill in one shot, and aiming the sniper rifle is very easy in this game. However, there are no long maps at all, which not only detracts from sniping, but detracts from the quality of the game as a whole.

Crossfire, Wetworks, Bog, are good sniping maps. (Also one I forget the name of)

 

 

 

When I snipe, I usually try to get 3 or 4 kills and move my position. I go in a random order from one sniping spot to another, eventually you get caught camping.

But, if you've played other fps', which I'm sure you have, you know that they really are not optimum or even designed for sniping in the slightest. I didn't say that there aren't any good places to snipe, because there are some maps where you can snipe easily and efficiently, but there aren't any fully good maps that are, as a whole, long range or completely efficient for sniping.

 

 

 

You were possibly thinking of the map Bloc as the one you forgot? That map is good for sniping. It's where in completed my perfection challenge while sniping: 25-0 :P

 

 

 

Sorry if I'm contradicting myself or causing confusion by saying 'good for sniping', I mean that it is possible to snipe efficiently. I do not mean, however, that it is actually a map that maximizes the abilities of the sniper class.

Of course the maps could a lot better for sniping.

 

 

 

We'll just have to wait to see if Infinity Ward is going to add sniping maps to CoD4.

Heh, I'm not a sniper so I couldn't care less for a sniping map. (btw i got my old account back so i acn play on my lv 19 again! lol). I personally like camping (I know its cheap but its freaking fun). I forget map names easily, but places like shipment and wetwork are ownage for camping as well as Bog. Shipment is such a tight stage that if you're not the first guy on the map you're owned for the first few minutes of the game unless you get lucky and there's no camper where you spawn. I've seen games where the winner racked up over 150 points in under a minute in shipment. get a helicopter and uav in and you're set for free kills.

 

 

 

BTW i just unlocked Martyrdom... its the best ability ever! I get soo many kills with it and it teaches campers a lesson. I tend to die a lot so the ability helps me get a few kills as I die.

 

 

 

My noob setup (only lv 19): AK47 with red dot sight (gonna work on gettin the unlockables for the Carbine too). sidearm= the default gun (don't rememebr what that was lol). Perks: 3x frag, stopping power (increased damage) and Martyrdom.

Went 136 kills - 26 assists - 61 deaths on Shipment

 

Went 45~ kills - 17 deaths on Overgrown

 

I also had loads of more games I did really great in. Wish Infinity Ward had stats like Bungie does.

 

 

 

Gotta love headquarters.

Martyrdom is so overated.So many people use it that last stand is a much better perk for racking up kills.People expect the grenade to drop so they are unaware off the guy still alive on the ground(the very good players take another pop shot just to check they are dead) until they see down the eyesight of a magnum on kill cam.It does have a floor with the map shipment because theyres so much chaos that youre dead after a few seconds of last stand mode.

 

 

 

Anyway i thought about going prestige but im just leveling up my shotgun skills.Ive honestly never played as a shotgunner so its a totally new experience which isnt too much differant than the setup i play but the close up power and one shot kills change youre strategys.Ive also never played an assault rifle class or heavy gunner too much because its not my style but ill play it....and i want to get some of the challenges done on the lists.
