Sportzmaniac36
Sometimes when I am doing nothing, I get dizzy and my vision becomes blurry, and I start to lose my balance. It ususally happens right after I stand up. If I grab onto something or sit down, I can get through it. But one time I fell and hit my head hard. Anyone know what this is, and how I can treat it? on first thing he did after becoming a member:I went through the membs gate, turned around and said, "WHAT NOW!" to the gates. Nitramosma
I actually have that same problem from time to time (except I've never fallen and hit my head from it). I always just thought it was the blood rushing away from your head due to gravity and standing up fast after sitting for a while. I never considered that there might be something more to it. dwarfdude3
one time while I was lying on the sofa for a long time, I got really dizzy all of the sudden, and it was really bad dizziness, like I thought I might throw up. It was late at night so I just stumbled to my bed and went to sleep. the next day, I looked it up on wikipedia and the internet. Basically I found that dizziness is usually caused by fluids in your ears, and there are like little rocks in your ears that keep you in equilibrium, and when the rocks can come lose and cause dizziness. You probably have a loose rock in your ear somewhere, and standing up triggers it. (sorry I'm not using technical terms, this probably sounds really stupid, but you can look it up for yourself). To fix this, there is some 'therapy' you can do, which I tried and it worked pretty well. I'll try to find it again, but basically it was something like I would sit on my bed for like 5-10minutes (don't remember the exact time), then I would lay down in one direction for like 5-10 minutes, then sit back up for 5-10minutes, and then lay down in the other direction for some time. Do this a few times (I think like 3), and that should help. at least it worked for me. Still, I'll try to find sources and stuff, this is all just from memory of like half a year ago. Sportzmaniac36
Thanks, I'll try the therapy dwarfdude3. Hopefully it will work. I get scared when the dizziness happens because I've come close to nailing my head on the corner of a table a few times. on first thing he did after becoming a member:I went through the membs gate, turned around and said, "WHAT NOW!" to the gates. Bubsa
Is it, like, International repost week, or something? http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=711726 I wouldn't really expect someone to search for this, but it just seems odd the amount of reposts we've had lately :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

highlanders
When someone stands up quickly from a sitting or lying position, the blood rushes into the legs, and for a short period of time the brain is deprived from the needed amount of blood which causes dizzyness, your sight becomes blurry and you start feeling the beggining of a fainting. I know what it is, I was once operated, and for the few months after, each time I would stand up I would start feeling the beggining of a fainting. It went away as my body recovered. Normal individuals feel this mildly, it's normal, but never so bad that they actually fall and hit their head. The only health problem I know of that could exacerbate those symptoms would be low blood pressure(hypotension). Taking your pressure is pretty easy, where I live they can take your blood pressure at the pharmacy. I suggest you try verifying that before anything else. 2480+ total
Adam007
Just get up from sitting or lying down slowly and you shouldn't have a problem.

1_man_army
I remember reading about this before (as it happens to me occasionally). As far as I remember it's something to do with your blood pressure when you stand up quickly. I don't think it's that major. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

I wouldn't recommend this, I used to get it severely and doctors were about as useful as a chocolate fireguard at diagnosing it, however a paedeatric specialist figured out what it was within about 5 minutes of talking. If you get it bad, try eating better foods, sleeping properly, and not standing up for long periods of time and making sure you're nice and cool. Heat, lack of food and standing for ages are what cause it for me, so could be a similar problem for you. 1 in 300 have it and if you're still in puberty that's when it's usually worse... I've had a few bad experiences with it too, including ending up unconcious a few times, being incapable of walking, and once speaking to my parents and having no recollection of it whatsoever. If it happens bad, lie down on the floor and put your feet up on something higher up so your legs are sloping. If you can't do that, just twiddle your toes, gets blood pumping round your body.
