Sig progress. Need constructive feedback! V2. Added.

This is a signature I've been working on since Saturday. I'm a big fan of Edguy and Avantasia (a metal opera), which are both the work of Tobias Sammet, a musical genious - so I wanted to make a sig with him in it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway, I spent several hours solely on the picture, trying to give it a rough, "dirty" and medieval look.

Anyway, now to my wittle problem: as you can see in the original picture, Mr. Sammet's neck is barely visible - and in the signature, it looked very stupid. So, I decided to create my own neck, which was a pretty controversial thought considering I cannot draw.

 

 

 

So after a few 100 layers, and after at least 10 times where I thought, "ah! I feel like it's finished now", this is what I got. I made most of the "texture/contours" with a 1px brush.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway... I still don't know if it looks good; proportional-wise etc. Therefore, I would like to hear your thoughts on it, and if you have some critique, please tell me how I could go about improving it. Because, I cannot draw. :P

the neck does look good. For the most part, its quite dark, and unless i look from up above i can't see much of it. I can say though, that it does seem real, and for someone who CANT DRAW (hehe) you did a good job on it. I'm liking the sig as well. Definitly a good sig, for an awsome Album thingy :D

the necks good but it needs to blend into the black at the bottom, rather than just cut off, don't shout at me for that :oops:

I'm not a great fan of that kind of sigs but I really liked this one. But, yes there's allways a but, what have you done beneith the neck? It's just black right below it. You should either keep on creating parts of his body all the way down or just move the whole head down a bit.

Yeah, about that black thing, I forgot to mention, it's actually a shirt. I put it there because, trust me, it looks so much better! However, it may look a bit tacky now, that's because I forgot to work on it more than the 5 seconds I put into creating it. :P

its accually quite nice :) but before your done u need to add a border and.. i would like to (but u dont have to) see you make that face more aged and cracked looking :) so he look like golem or somthing and like loose heaps of the hair lol thats would be sweet... lol your own golem creation. lol and the caption could be "my precioussss..."

I will obviously add a border. As for giving him a golem look... no. Just... no. :P Since I want him to actually look like Tobias Sammet (otherwise the whole concept is destroyed). Besides, I think he looks sorta' warped as it is.

The neck looks like he's straining a little, but that might be what you're after.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A relaxed neck really wouldn't have such prominent cartilage. Other than that, it's actually a pretty nice sig, even though I don't particularly like that kind of style.

Yeah, cheers for mentioning that, because that is not at all the look I was going after.

 

 

 

So, anyway, I made some changes; making the neck look more relaxed, and I also added shoulders to him, I figured that it would now remove the doubt of there being a shirt there. :P

 

 

 

I also edited and added some text, from Avantasia's "The Tower".

The neck looks a little bent, but otherwise it looks great. Good pick on the lyrics too, but maybe you could make the right side of the background just a tad lighter.

The "bent" neck. I sort of wanted that, but maybe it looks weird, I don't know. I thought it looked alright, though.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As for the right side, you're probably right. I could make it a tad bit lighter, but not too much, because I obviously want the left part to be the main focus.
