I am getting about 10-15 spam emails a day, most of them are about enlarging my manhood but last time I checked I was pretty happy so I have no reason to recieve these emails. :D

 

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird and my own domain email. Can anyone help me stop these coming through? I also have Norton Antispam and stuff but it doesn't seem to be doing much...

Whats your email company with? I have put a lot of keyword filters on my emails and also installed some spam blocker software onto the webserver (not my pc)

i'm using Crucial Paradigm for hosting so I think it's them? :x

 

If not i registered my domain on 123-reg

In my experience you can only add so many filters for spam, eventually you start catching real emails. :/

 

 

 

My suggestion would be to allow only people on your address book to send you emails. It's the only way as far as I know that you'll definately be spam free.

 

 

 

I get around 3 - 6 spam emails a day on hotmail, but I'm so used to deleting them after work that they don't bother me anymore.

I'll be honest, I'm so used to not really getting any spam by gmail (what little comes through gets put in the spam folder) I don't know how to help.

 

 

 

However Chris's idea sounds good, if not a little drastic.

10 to 15 a day is a drop in the bucket compared to the 40-50+ I get and even less compared to the hundreds some people I know get.

 

 

 

If the host offers something like SpamAssasin I'd use it (I use it on my and my dad's domains, and it does farily well). If they don't, ask them if it's possible to install it. ThunderBird also has some adaptive filters that will learn what is spam and what isn't as you mark things so I'd suggest turning that on and using it if you don't already.

I use Gmail, and to be honest, they're the best E-mail domain I've used, ever.

 

 

 

All my spam is seperated from my proper Emails in it's own "Spam" section, just incase one day one of those emails will come in handy... Not saying it will. :roll: Current Spam Emails: 1433. Not bad. Every 14 days they delete, so it doesn't keep rising.

 

 

 

So my advice is:

 

 

 

Use GMAIL. :D - Also, they say you can never run out of capacity on Gmail; one thing that I particularly like.

If you have a domain, you will get a lot of wildcard spam, and also bounces when the miserable gits forge YOUR domain as the source.

 

 

 

You have to block anything which is not a name you use or a valid generic name - your host might address email to "customer@yourdomain", or some other alias, and you are supposed to accept mail to postmaster@

Well worth a look, use one of the less rabid blocklists, some of the alternative ones have an "any ISP without adequate outgoing spam prevention" condition, and block way to much - those based on CBL, XBL, Spamhaus and such are generally ok, but some lists are administered with extreme personal bias.

I love Gmail.

My advice, also, is to switch to Gmail. If you have a Mac ( :D ), then it can hook up to Apple's amazing "Mail" program and you don't even get spam emails (at least I don't).

Gmail has the best spam filter of all the email providers I've used so far. I have about 7-10 email accounts that I check on a regular basis, and I get around 5-20 spam emails per day in each one, but on my gmail accounts, I only get about 5 spam emails a week, which is a quite a big difference =D>
