Xbox 360: To Buy, Or Not To Buy

Er, I understand that this topic is sort of turning into a which-console-is-better-war, and those are some great game recommendations, however, I'm asking; what do you like about the console?; what do you dislike about the console?; and Have you encountered any problem(s) with the console before.

Thanks!

These are all exclusives

Not even half the games you listed are exclusives.

Halo 3 - Exclusive

Mass Effect - Exclusive

The Outfit - Exclusive

Oblivion - Not Exclusive (Available on PS3)

Orange Box - Not Exclusive (Available on PS3)

Crackdown - Exclusive

Call of Duty 4 - Not Exclusive (Available on PS3)

Bioshock - Not Exclusive (Available on PC)

Assassins Creed - Not Exclusive (Available on PS3)

4/9 are exclusive, and one is on PC which doesn't really count. And the rest are only on PS3, which is pretty much a failure. So they might as well be exclusives

If you have friends that own 360s and have extensive libraries of games, then I'd suggest spending a few days trying everything out first. There are always people here who will love it and people here who will hate it, so really the only person to judge whether it'll be worth the money is you. If you're only looking at it because of Halo 3, then I'd say no on principle - only get it if you try it and you're really into the system or enjoy most of the games.

On another note, it annoys me that all these topics turn into console wars lol. We get it, you like your system, let's address Skill's concerns please.

Umm, don't say they're all exclusives when they aren't; all != not all. Making things up in a thread about consoles is probably the last thing you should do on the internet, as it's bound to come and bite you in the [wagon].

I was talking about the other ones also being released for PC. To which I'm sure Halo 3 is also being released for in a year or so (correct me if I'm wrong). So that makes more than half of the games in his list non-exclusives.

Calm down... I'll bet a lot of those games will be out on the PC eventually. And Halo 3 is exclusive on the 360, even if it will come out on the PC in a year or so. And it took almost 3 years between the release of Halo 2 on the Xbox and PC.

Well, my friend is the one who got me into the Xbox, Halo, and Xbox Live. He recently invited me over to try it out, and, since then, I've been going over to play any chance I get. He has a very extensive collection, but I never get a chance to play anything other than Halo. I'm just looking to see how others feel about the console.

GO FOR IT!! WOO!!

Meh, I'm bored. But don't buy it just for Halo 3..sure, it's good, but it's not the only game on the 360. You have Fear, Dead Rising, Bioshock, Oblivion, Mass Effect, GTA IV, The Godfather (great game IMO), Call of Duty 4, Fable 2, Assassin's Creed, Black, Half Life 2, HL 2: Episodes 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, and Gears of War...just to name a few of them ;)

Sounds like a good enough reason to buy one in my opinion

Bolded are all included in one game, The Orange Box. :XD:

But yes, I do think you should get one. I like basically everything about it; the games, the wireless controllers(yes, I know, nothing special for any console), the graphics, and Xbox Live.

Never had any problems, even though mine is only like two months old.

Buy a 360.

Halo 3

Mass Effect

The Outfit

Crackdown

And waaaay more. P.S. These are all exclusives and Mass Effect will be a trilogy.

They are the only exclusives you pleb, and the Outfit got average scores of about 7/10, that's an awesome exclusive to have.

I'm just gonna go against everyone and say get a PS3, I have a Wii and they are awesome but if I was buying another console it'd be a PS3. Here are some reasons.

1. You can get one for about the same price as a 360 now, they are 300 pounds in the uk and a 360 is 250, but you have to pay 40 pounds for X-Box live so really it's 10 pounds more for a PS3.

2. The graphics are better. Ok so it's a tiny difference but hey it's still better.

3. They don't break as easily as the 360, no red-rings of death.

4. Better exclusives if you ask me. Haze, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid 4. Thos 4 games alone make it a better purchase than 360 IMO.

So yeah get a PS3 instead.

Sig by me....

1. Yeah you can.

2. No. No PS3 game yet has proved this either, in fact, its more difficult to take advantage of the PS3 -- which means games may run worse looking the same as they do on the 360.

3. *SIGH*. They FIXED that issue, and it is no longer a problem. If it does somehow break every 360 comes with a 3 year warranty.

4. And.. none of those exclusives are even OUT yet.

Lol, I know..but if I put all of them out, it makes the library look even bigger than it is

Anyways..as for the ps3, no.

1. Yeah, but that's a limited version of the Ps3...kind of like the 360's core console.

2. Nope. They're the same..besides, even if it is proven that the PS3 has better graphics, the system can barely handle them anyways. Not to mention the fact of gameplay > graphics.

3. The Rings are an issue that's been fixed. You can also do a warranty..and pay absolutely nothing for a brand-new 360. Heck, my friend got the rings...he bought the premium, but he's actually going to get an Elite in return. And let's not forget the amazing PS3 launch...

4. None of them are even out yet...besides, I bet MGS4 will end up on 360 anyways ;)

My God, is there no end to the "Must I get a 360?" threads? This must have been the 4th one.

Answer: If you have a choice and are looking for a new console, 360 is your best choice. Honestly, I wouldn't buy another console so soon after buying a Wii, but hey, your choice.

I think we established the 360's library is the best one of the next gen consoles. Not just Halo 3, but plenty of other games (especially shooters).

It has a great online feature. Xbox Live is as efficient and useful as it gets, will set you back 50 bucks/year though.

Graphics are better than that Wii, and can challenge the ps3's.

Hey, it might not be innovative like the Wii, but it does its job as a console for gamers just fine. It's more hardcore, but imo that's why you can rely on it for good gaming.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

  • 2 weeks later...

Having just bought it, I'd say go for it. I've already burned music to it, the Dashboard allows you to play music, access xbox live whenever and wherever in a game, and basically do whatever you want to do. It's like a computer in a way...it's great.

1. What the hell? PS3s are ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã400 and 360s are ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã230,

2. Only slightly...

3. 360s have 3 year warranties, I don't actually know someone irl that has had a broken 360 (yet)

4. Both console have great exclusives...

The decision has been made, and the console has been purchased (although it's a Christmas gift, I have to wait until Christmas :P). I think the 360, from what I've seen and read, is going to be sweet. I just keep thinking of my fantasy like a commercial. Me, at late night, in the comfort of my video chair. I'm listening to my favorite song, while talking to my friend in a one-on-one conversation over Live. Honestly, the 360 to me seems like a great console. It has the potential to do so much, I guess. Basically, I suppose, what I'm trying to word in dramatic format is...I CAN'T WAIT!!!! :)
