November 11, 200718 yr Don't be so doggone paranoid of the kids. They have as much a right to play this game as an adult has. Anyway, I don't think it'd be a good idea. Namely because of how easy it would be to get these cards into the hands of those that seek to sell RS gold online...this would only make it easier for them. Yeah, it would probably make problems with macroers in P2P, and Jagex wouldn't be able to know who/what (a machine?) is playing in P2P. I would also hate it because a lot of younger kids would ask their parents for it. "Mommy, pleeeeaasseeee......" I would hate to be hearing that in P2P (even though I'm F2P :-$ ) F2P for life :D

Namely because of how easy it would be to get these cards into the hands of those that seek to sell RS gold online...this would only make it easier for them. Yeah, Jagex wouldn't know who (or what? like a machine) is playing in P2P. There would be a huge uproar in P2P with macros. I would also hate to see younger kids begging their parents if they could play. "Pleaaaaaasssseeeeeeeeee Mommy..." I would be disgusted hearing that in P2P (even though I'm F2P :-$ ) F2P for life :D
November 11, 200718 yr considering jagex is a uk based company. It'd come to uk locations first. But overall a bad bad idea Setup and running costs of such a product would mean the cards would cost like triple the cost upwards on membership done purely online. Besides so many people manage to do it without these cards, those who don't generally are too young, can't afford or parents won't allow. The cards would just allow way rounds two of those very valid reasons for NOT having membership Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
November 11, 200718 yr Kids have less rights than adults in the world for very good reasons. Lack of responsibility, knowledge and life experience makes kids much more vulnerable to making wrong decisions than adults. Get used to it. So, no. The system is fine as it is. RuneScape membership costs less in a month than 1 Big Mac meal does in a fast food restaurant. It isn't exactly a great financial sacrifice for any age, given your family is already wealthy enough to provide you with internet access which costs $10-$50 a month. You'd pay $10 for a movie ticket worth 2 hours of fun, but not $0.16 a day for premium in a game you like to play daily or at least many times a week? If you really want to pay for premium, you can buy Visa gift cards legally at any age (I think at least in the US). Or if you have a cellphone, use the PayByPhone option and ask your parents for permission so they don't get a surprise when the bill arrives :) It's not about the money. It's about the huge amount of time some people play this game. And generally, members will spend more time playing this game than non members. If an adult chooses the spend a huge amount of time on it, then - either smart or not - I accept his decision. However, a kid could easily think much more about the fun than its responsibilities at school. And that could be a decision he will regret a lot some years later. Oh, c'mon don't give me this BS. A kid can easily play a lot of something else than RuneScape. If he can't play RS he'll play Wow, Halo, watch TV...anything else. Kids will not study if they can't play games. They will do other entertaining things. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
November 11, 200718 yr Sorry, double post. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
November 15, 200718 yr Author Well I guess its true this also enables sweatshops to be able to access members much easier for yews and such to sell for real life money. So JAGeX Prolly won't sell them. Ok pre-paid cards here I come. :XD: スーパーかわいい~
November 15, 200718 yr its a decent idea, but I don't think Jagex is looking for ANOTHER payment method now that they are releasing their new games.
November 15, 200718 yr From a business standpoint, it would be a wonderful idea. Paying online, the current method, is still awkward to a lot of parents and thus they refuse to do so. Membership cards would allow for kids or parents to buy them in a store and simply type in the pin found on the card onto runescape.com, similar to when paying by text message.
November 15, 200718 yr I think they SHOULD sell prepaid cards like Wow dose because it would be "safer" because some players dont want to be members because there parents dont want to put their credit card details, cash etc It wold also make jagex a lot richer so i dont know why they wouldnt want to procced with this idea. But the negative side to it is that it might invlove more scams in rs and maybe more bots. My cool signature look ----------------------
November 15, 200718 yr Stop trying to police the world, if the kid plays rs all day thats the parents fault. Jagex should do it.
November 17, 200718 yr Author Lol something that pisses me off is when you get your mom or dad to pay for your membership using credit card and like 5 months later they don't know what in the hell it is on their credit card bill they ask for a refund. Thus this will place negative credit on your account (pretty much banned) until you can get membership(some other way) enough for the amount your parents refunded. My first main Jjgansta which is still searchable through hiscores currently has 20$ negative credit on it I just consider that account banned. Another reason why JAGeX SHOULD sell membership cards. But I guess pre-paid works the same. スーパーかわいい~
November 17, 200718 yr RuneScape membership costs less in a month than 1 Big Mac meal does in a fast food restaurant. It isn't exactly a great financial sacrifice for any age, given your family is already wealthy enough to provide you with internet access which costs $10-$50 a month. i beg to differ. big mac here is bout $2 AUS. membership is $10 minimum depending on payment option, 12-13 for phone so dont forget location. plus internet wise australia has the slowest net. were paying 60 a month for "australias" 3rd best net speed. 60 bucks! (thankfully nw gov' election in a month so we shall see soon) on topic. i'd say distributing cards for membership is bad because kiddilings could: a) steal them (youd be suprised) B) costs jagex money to distribute them which isnt good as we have estimated 2m players which some places might get these cards with no players...or bring in underage players. Popoto.~<3
November 17, 200718 yr id say no, mostly because there are already other methods of payment that are fairly similar.
November 17, 200718 yr yes wow does it and makes a [cabbage] load, i mean think of all the f2p with no cc if they had cards they could
November 17, 200718 yr I don't see why this idea is so bad, I like it. More people as members = more people to meet, more people having fun in the game skilling together. And most people grow up eventually, so there could be more cool players. Don't bash f2p for being immature either. Theres f2p'ers signed up on tip it forums and we've seen some, so don't go on saying they're all bad... That, and I don't care about having more people. If people are nice to me, I'm nice back and don't care if theres many more. If people are jerks I flame the crap out of them. Simple. the trick is to balance all of these methods to get 99 and either play real life or train another skill while farming. 635th to 99 Farming 12/16/07
November 17, 200718 yr Even if they did, they probably would be English only for a while, because of the annoyance of selling in other countries. Runescape player since 6th November, 2003
November 17, 200718 yr I'm dutch and we allready got something named "Wally cards" just cards with 5, 10, 15 and 20 euro that have a number what you can enter on runescape.com
