You basically start as a microscopic organism, and slowly grow through evolution until you can start to colonize and visit other planets. Disappointingly though, it comes out in 2008-2009. Ugh!

I think the current believed date of release is sometime around June '08, but they keep changing it so who knows.

Yeah when I heard about it several months ago, it was sometime in '09. I just want this game so bad, the videos of it look completely amazing. UFO's shooting lasers on planets ..

It's not an RTS, it's a sim. Big difference. It's not so much strategic combat as it is just management and development of your people. It's a novel idea, a cross between The Sims and Civ.

 

 

 

Just curious how they explain where life comes from...

 

And apparently you can upload your planets and life forms so that other players can experiment with them...Or blow them up!

Sounds awesome, I heard about this a few months ago from some feature on yahoo about upcoming games. I just want to know...what system(s) will it be fore? i couldn;t find on the site.

I became obsessed with it like two summers ago when it was originally slated for release. Now I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist until 2009. I've been hurt too many times. :(

I wouldn't have thought so, I mean, with a game as revolutionary as Spore, they'd sell it out to all the major consoles... But, this may just end up to be another great idea that has been executed poorly. Still, I hope it will be good.

Reading the review... This game seems almost too good to be true. It seems to have very skilled programmers behind it to make an idea like that work. I don't see the point of this game though; What is the objective of creating those creatures? Making them fight?

Oh, don't have any doubts of the coders. It's made by Will Wright, creator of the sims. Just watch some full length videos of gameplay and you'll understand it all. You basically create a civilization, and creating the creatures is just one of the steps you take on your way. You could ask the same question about creating people on the sims though. It might seem pointless but there's so much customizability open to you it's almost like playing god.

Lol, I believe the longest developing game ever is Duke Nukem: Forever. They started work on it like 11 years ago or somethin'. :P I think Will said the started design on Spore like 9 years ago, maybe 10 now.

 

 

 

It's going to rock. It was supposed to come out last spring but they pushed it back and since then, they've obviously upgraded the graphics of it and added new stuff. It's going to be pretty epic.

Spore is going to rock but everytime they realeased a date I got exited then they pushed it back :wall: I hope it'will be out by Spring 2008 if that realease date is even true >.>.
