She tried to commit suicide last night but I calmed her down over the phone. Today, she texted me at 1:44PM and I didn't have my phone during school. She said she was going to cut herself. Now I can't reach her cell number, and she texted me on another phone.

Look in the phone book. Tell her parents IMMEDIATELY

She lives in a different town hours away and I don't know her address yet.

Find her phone number, go to where she lives, tell her parents, and if you can't reach any of those things tell your parents at least.

Tell her parents now. Or call her school and ask to be directed. Or call 411. But get on the phone with her guardian. Don't take any risks. Cutting is one thing, but attempted suicide is something different.

Do you have her full name? If so, ring the police and tell them that your friend is threatening to commit suicide, they'll find her.

I also think it's worth it to leave whatever you're doing now/tomorrow to be there physically for that person, not very many things can be more important than convincing a person he/she is making the wrong decision by taking out his/her own life.

I'd say unless you were certain she was going to, not to call any authorities to investigate or anything, because the whole ordeal could be humiliating and make it worse. It's best to have her talk to a good freind that will help her.

Still, since she sent you a text message, you will be able to find her number that way. Regardless of phone models, the sender's number is always visible in the header. You should try to talk her out of it ASAP.
