No, that was serious, you'll know when I've started being sarcastic when I start spouting crap like "PotC rules!" :P I actually was being sarcastic... If you didn't notice. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
December 19, 200718 yr Duh, if we look at it in a dull, realistic way, of course historic ninjas would crush pirates, who were mostly undisciplined bands of drunk bandits aboard ships and boats. Ships and boats with guns on them. And if they were so undisciplined, then explain how they ever became as big a threat to commercial shipping as they did. Actually, they still are a threat to commercial shipping. (There are more recent pirate battles, that's from 2006 but it fits the topic). Pirates still hijack goods and boats/ships on sea worth hundreds of millions every year. (CNN) -- Two U.S. Navy ships skirmished with a group of suspected pirates off the coast of Somalia Saturday, killing one and wounding five, the Navy said. No U.S. sailors were injured. At the time, the USS Cape St. George, a guided missile cruiser, and the USS Gonzalez, a guided missile destroyer, were conducting maritime security operations in the Indian Ocean, the Navy said. (Watch report of U.S. Navy battle with pirates -- 2:07) It was during a "routine boarding" of the suspected pirates' vessel that the naval boarding team noticed the crew was armed with what appeared to be rocket-propelled grenade launchers, said the Navy. "The suspected pirates then opened fire on the Navy ships," a press release from the Navy stated. "The Cape St. George and Gonzalez returned fire with small arms in self-defense." What I meant by undisciplined is their historical fighting skills. They had occassional good strategists, but the crews with their miscelanneous equipment were barely a match to organised government fleets most of the time.
December 19, 200718 yr But hey, you have to give the modern-day Somalian pirates some credit. It takes a special sort of man, with incredible testicular fortitude, to fire an RPG-7 at a USN destroyer with deck-mounted machine guns that can destroy the pirate's vessel. December 21, 200718 yr Author You guys are totally ruining the fun. Please, stop it. Who cares about the technicalities.
December 21, 200718 yr Funny, I only read the first page of replies but just about everyone's reason had to do with because they're fiercer/are better at killing/have better weapons/etc. I'd choose pirates in a heartbeat. I'd love the idea of "sailing the seas for eternity" ..though maybe it's because I've seen the Pirates of the Carribbean series a few hundred times too many :anxious: - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Well, there are things that are less appealing about "sailing the seas for eternity", like the lack of companionship, land, etc. But overall the lifestyle of a pirate is hands down better.

It takes a special sort of man, with incredible testicular fortitude, to fire an RPG-7 at a USN destroyer with deck-mounted machine guns that can destroy the pirate's vessel. Out of curiosity, what kind of idiot pirate attacks a destroyer? What's he going to loot, fatigues, boots and kidnap drill sergeants? All the while avoiding the hundreds of armed soldiers and their guns? I'd like my refund on the credit given. lol @ testicular fortitude. At the cost of the fortitude of the cranium it seems. I'm surprised that nobody thought of this yet, but obviously all of us would want to be pirates! 1) Free movies and music. As opposed to watching Godzilla's Revenge, or whatever they watched in Japan centuries ago, we get to see movies way ahead of everyone else, and for free! They ride the torrents with their ships, if you catch my drift. 2) Pirates pick up more ladies since they have better rides. Pimped out battleships > pandas. Although this is debatable, some prefer pandas, but that is your opinion. 3) Ninjas get to live all frugal. Pirates generally have treasure chests, as allocated by the Caribbean Piracy Act of 2007. This means they live pretty much with heaps of beer, loot, and women. 4) And most importantly, I'm not sure where this nonsense of 200 pirates to a ninja came from. You see, there is no way a ninjaken can cut through the dual-layer ablative armor, ceramic bullet-proof kevlar weave, energy shielding and magical-blessing-of-kick-rearness that pirates possess. Observe: So using the equation 2.7182(4P)I+5(Ra)-T^e = @w$0me, I predict that Pirates > Ninjas. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
December 21, 200718 yr Ninjas>Pirates Ninjas are elite assassins able to use a variety of weapons to kill without ever being noticed and without leaving a trace. They are experts at using terrain to their advantage. Pirates use distance to their advantage in water battles using cannons, as the only way for them to get real training in closequarters combat is to learn it before they become pirates. Their barbaric ways usually make them easy targets in battle as they usually have little skill in stealth and tactics. On land ninjas easily win and on sea as long as both ships are armed its basically anyones game. Only thing pirates hold over ninjas is that anyone can become a pirate just like that, but it takes years of training and devotion to become a ninja. ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~

December 21, 200718 yr Pirates because we have guns. And cannons. And ships. Unless the ninjas can walk on water? Obviously pirates would fight in their element, on the open sea. So there's no point in being sneaky if they can see you 100 miles away. dont know idf this was said..but ninjas can walk on water..if we focus chakra on the soles of our feet.... (id be a ninja) im a naruto addict.. IGNORE THESE FOUR WORDS

December 21, 200718 yr Langzor, I are confused. Do you agree with me or not? And you don't like POTC?  Hah, I just finished POTC3 in band class...
December 21, 200718 yr As a martial artist and huge naruto fan, ninjas without a doubt. I love the stealthness ability, and being able to learn ninjutsu and be even more invincible than I already am in close combat. I wouldn't care much for sailing on the seas wondering who's gonna betray me first. As fun as that sounds it's too passive for me. Pirates because we have guns. And cannons. And ships. Unless the ninjas can walk on water? Obviously pirates would fight in their element, on the open sea. So there's no point in being sneaky if they can see you 100 miles away. The ninja would be able to disguise himself even in the open sea using transformation jutsu, dodge your cannonade just because he's a ninja and kill you in the way he pleases. Ninjas can walk on water, trees and any surface pretty much. 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! If the fellow in the picture is your average pirate, then I'd say a Samus Aran would be your average ninja. I'm fairly sure she'd be able to take out a good 200 of 'm. That being said, I'm sticking with ninjas.
December 21, 200718 yr Hah! Out of the shadows, more ninja supporters flock to support our cause! Die, pirate supporting scum! sleep like dead men wake up like dead men

I think Muppet Treasure Island is better than the PotC series. :P I actually meant at what that other guy said about us liking them because of movies and liking ninjas because of anime. The fact is, ninjas can hide all they want but pirates are just too damn fast for them. We have guns and swords and ships and everything and they have black suits and poisoned threads of hair and ninja stars. Great for range fighting and bounty missions, but not for close combat and general fighting. Pirates rule.

Anyways, it's not like ninjas need to get up close and personal. They're sneaky sneaky. So, they sneakily sneak without a squeak of their feet, onto your ship where the drunkards lay asleep. A slit and a slice, keep it quiet and nice, and that's one ship down, down to the ground. Err... Sea ground. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
