Ok, i've mostly used gimp before, but i just got photoshop CS2 and made this. Rate out of 10.

 

 

 

I don't like it. It doesn't blend or match with the render. The background is very simple, and completely contrasts, and the text doesn't match one bit, or flows with the render. What do hearts have to do with penguins or surfing?

i say 10/10 why? because the others that are rating it so low may not appreciate simplicity?

 

 

 

I think its well balances.. there is not too much noise and clutter..

 

 

 

in regards to the contrasts of the text.. i find it VERY easy to read... unlike others i have seen where the text is almost the same color as the background.

maybe so, but from an Artist POV this sig isnt very good

I sort of agree with you on this one. Not totally, because of course it's not the best sig in the world and many people think it doesn't have the best flow/harmony or something, but Gehackte is wrong. Like, that whole post was wrong.

 

 

 

I personally don't like it though. I pretty much agree with everyone else here. :wall:

I agree with previous posters, the render needs to be blended a bit more, and the colours don't match. Also, I think a different font would be better.

 

 

 

Keep on practising though, and I'm sure you will make great art soon. :)

Nothing is wrong with simplicity, if it works.

 

 

 

It doesn't work here. The composition is very basic and the text doesn't flow with the sig at all.

 

 

 

 

 

A minimalistic sig needs to have a good composition and, more importantly, an interesting one because otherwise its just bland. It doesn't have anything else to fall back on.

 

 

 

 

 

So to answer your question, no nothing is wrong with simplicity -- but this sig doesn't do simplicity correctly.

And also, he's not going to get better if we say only good things about it. Nobody here has so far said anything like "Your sig sucks!", so we are only posting useful critisism, which can help more that going "Awesome! 10/10!"

Well, no offense, but this signature could have been easily made with Paint.Net, Paint and GIMP. So try making something big with Photoshop, there are many tutorials on the net. So good luck! :wink:
