SwreeTak
If the price of santas went down to 5-10m and then no one sold them, the rares wouldn't be rare and unbuyable, they would rise back up. Sure, the prices are lower at the moment but after time I think they will go back up. I agree. The rares are currently low in price, but they will most probalby rise in price in not a to far away future. swordwarior
bleh who really make bigger money to afford rares? stakers? gone merchanting? gone monster hunters? after 3k differential limit, people wouldn't want to go in teams which kinda makes most of the big profit monster hunting dwindle jagex did say they were looking at a way to sell on ge and split then again, they said they were already in the process of making clan chat to calm down the SS protest but took quite a few months so who knows how long it would be til they get a split loot feature 91+ runecrafters? their profit has been slashed down to about 2/3's of what it was due to ess and nat prices if you lose most the good money makers, prices of rares are due to fall. Staking and merchanting were ways of gathering money, they didn't add the money into to game.
xlippsx
I don't even know what to think regarding rares. I have been too afraid to buy any rare for the past month, just because of how crazy the price changing has been. I used to own at very least a santa at all times, but now i can't even bring myself to buy an easter egg...
hephaestos8
...it is very likely that the extreme profits merchants now make from trading other items will be invested in rares at some point, which will probably cause rares to bounce back up. Again, it remains difficult to predict this with confidence as this assumes the Adaptive Pricing System, etc will work appropriately, something I have to place huge question marks on. I agree with Duke, prices will only go so low before merchants will get back in to the rares market and push them up
icat2000
Cash will be the language of 2008. Rares are just a value on paper. You may think they worth xxxx but doesn't necessarily equate to the buyer believing they are worth xxxx. Interesting times ahead. I had some rares I sold them all on Day One of GE release and have been accummulating cash ever since.

You can only collect so much cash though, the limit is very high but i still think at one point people will invest back in rares.
Star_Fox
rares are going to be untradeble.i readed it in the rsof! where? :-k imo i don't think the Ge prices will change at all and the the prices will stay the same perminantly. reason is, jagex didn't want the players to make money out of them in the first place. so the rares after the 3k update will be for the players that want to keep them to show off that they can afford it. If the prices stay the same permanently Jagex will be PROVEN to be liars quite blatantly. And Jagex usually likes to have plausible deniability behind them when they lie. And the "rares will be untradable in January" post was made by the type of player that actually USES the word "readed". So for some reason I doubt the validity of that rumor..... j00b
for everybody who thinks rares will go back up , you obviosly dont know much about the market : Discontinued items ONLY go up because people merchant them , and use them as " TOOLS " to make money , such as myself i wouldnt ever buy a partyhat if i couldnt turn around and sell it for profit ... thats just pointless , why waste money on something that actually has no use in game ( after the update that is ) but if you honestly think they will go back up , and you have had plenty of experiance in the market , such as myself... and can put up a valid reason why they would go up .. ide be glad to listen , and maybe take your advice into account by the way , i sold all my partyhats before they went down.. i knew this was coming , so if i get proved wrong ..i'll cry  but it wont happen  1103'rd to 99 crafting830th to 99 herblore~!~ Master Merchant ~!~
