Good mage setup for iron dragons?

Featured Replies

My stats are in my sig. I do have 72 mage though. not 71. SO what would be a good pack and what should I wear? Please and thank you.

I was a similar level when I did Iron Drags.

A good setup I used was:

A few sharks (normally four along the bottom row) just in case your antifire runs out when your not looking/hit's a melee.

Anti Fire pots (obviously) I took about eight, no point cramming your invent with them or you got no room for drops.

An Ardougne Tele. Quick way to leave to restock. Also can be used in emergencies.

1000gp. Covers the cost to get in and is used as a placeholder.

Alching runes. I had these to alch things like rune stocks, random weapons, armour and the like which enables me to stay down there longer. This is why I have the coins as a placeholder.

Fire bolt Runes. I casted this while wearing Magic Gauntlets (Family Crest Quest) to cast well on a budget. Hits upto 14 or 15 and is better than blasts, because it's cheaper and still effective.

I hope this helps.

Depends on your budget. I wore Ahrims, Mystic Boots, Cooking Cape, Mage Gauntlets, ANTI FIRE SHIELD (don't forget it) and an air staff

Substitute the Ahrims for Mystic, the Cooking Cape for a God Cape and that should offer a good budget setup for you.

Don't worry about defense, just wear your best mage attack bonus. Ahrims or mystic is good.

Also no prayer pots? That gives me a ton of inventory space.

Nope. If you're maging with Anti-Fire Potions and a Anti-fire Shield, you won't take any damage, unless your Potion runs out, then you'll take small amounts.

You only need potions if you're meleeing, then you probably should Protect from Melee.

I suggest not doing it on your first attempt to it, but after you learned how to do it properly, bring them.

Sure, there's really not much danger, they can't hit you as long as you're more than 2 steps away and have anti-fire pots and a anti-drag shield. Even if you forget your shild or get into melee range and get meleed to death, gravestones make you pretty much immune.

No, unless your very very very lucky.

igsig.png

It'll give you a taste of what Iron Dragons are like. Use the 1k and then see whether you like it enough to carry on with it.

Do you have to have high defense?

Or can someone with 1 def do it?

1 def is ok, just stay out of melee range

No problem ;).

I got another question :P. Where should I stand to mage them?

Doesn't really matter where you stand, but there is a double spawn of iron dragons right by the entrance. As long as you're a few steps away, they won't melee at all. But make sure you have full prayer when you enter, so you can pray through black demons, or in emergencies.
