Happysniff
This guide is also posted on Draynor.net! As we all know, slayer is a very hard skill to train. Possibly the hardest. In this guide you will find methods that will increase the speed of your slayer tasks. I will go through what monsters are worth doing and what ones should be skipped, as well as the best method for killing them and their loot. Even with these methods, slayer is still a very hard skill to train and takes many months of dedication if you want the big 99. At the moment I myself am working towards 99 slayer. As my slayer journey progresses I will update my thread with more useful information. Have fun reading it ^_^ Introduction First before you begin your slayer tasks, there are some key items which you will need to gain the fastest xp possible. * Dwarf Cannon * Cannonballs * Guthans set * Black mask (recommended but not required) * Full initiate and/or proseltye * Prayer potions * Monkfish or sharks As you can see this is rather expensive. However before you start your tasks, if you do not wish to buy some of the supplies, you may simply collect them yourself. You may buy your cannonballs or make them yourself. In the end you save more money if you buy steel bars and make them into cannonballs yourself, which requires 35 smithing. The best place to do this is the Fremmenik Isles. If you have the herblore level and the required ingredients you can make your own prayer pots, requiring 38 herblore. For armour you will need to buy it yourself. The guthans for some will be very costly, but in the end will be worth it should you decide to train slayer to a high level. Here are some recommended levels: 65+ Range 43+ Prayer 70+ melee stats ------------------------------------------------------- My guide will suggest two slayer masters to you, which are Chaeldar and Duradel, however if you think you are not ready for higher level tasks you can always visit Vannaka. Chaeldar and Duradel will give you hard slayer assignments, which generally give good exp. Chaeldar can be found in Zanaris and Duradel can be found in Shilo Village (must have completed Lost city quest or Shilo Village quest). The Monsters Here are some of the best tasks you can get from these two slayer masters: Abyssal Demons* Black Demons Bloodvelds Cave Horrors* Dagganoths Dark Beasts* Dust Devils Elves Fire Giants Gargoyles Greater Demons Hellhounds Jellies Kalphite Lesser Demons Nechryaels* Spiritual Mages* Suqahs Trolls * Means I haven't fought these monsters yet, but I do know that they are good ^_^ The reason why I have selected these monsters are due to their exp and their drops mainly. I will now go through these monsters in a detailed look at their slayer perspective, going through drops, exp and effective methods to kill them. Note that the amount of slayer exp you get from killing them is also their hp level. This is in alphabetical order, just like above: Abyssal Demons Slayer level: 85 Slayer exp: 150 Top Drops: abyssal whips, abyssal demon head, dragon spear, dragon med, dragon left half What to bring: Wear your regular slayer armour ir full rune or full bandos etc. Bring teletabs or tele runes, runes to alch, slayer gem, 5-10 sharks/monkfish and full guthans, leaving enough room for the drops. Method: When you get down to half hp heal with your guthans. In emergencies, for instance if your guthans doesn't heal eat a shark. Abyssal Demons teleport around the room as a casual annoyance, but not a huge problem. Black Demons Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 157 Top Drops: Dragon spear, dragon med, shield left half What to bring: For this task you will need 1k+ cannonballs (depending on how many you get), your cannon, full initiate/proselyte, prayer pots, some sharks, tele runes, alching runes and if you wish, bring some ranging equipment as well, for when you run out of prayer pots. Method: The best place for these is Taverly dungeon. Set your cannon up in the middle of the room. Put protect from melee on and start attacking a black demon. Whenever your prayer gets down to 5 drink some of your prayer pots. Stand near your cannon for quick and easy reloading. Watch out for when your cannon is almost decayed though. Bloodvelds Slayer level: 50 Slayer exp: 120 Top Drops: Dragon spear, shield left half What to bring: Wear armour that protects well against magic. Recommended armours are karils, d'hide or void knight armour. The cannon is not necessary here but would make it faster. Bring food and guthans as well. Method: Set up your cannon in the middle of the room and start attacking bloodvelds. Stay close to your cannon and whenever you reach half health equip your guthans and heal. Cave Horrors Slayer level: 58 Slayer exp: 55 Top Drops: Shield left half, dragon spear, black mask What to bring: Bring your regular slayer gear and some food and guthans, as well as alchin runes and tele runes. when you reach half health equip you guthans. You need to have completed the Cabin Fever quest, and must have a witchwood icon to fight them Method: When you reach half health equip you guthans. You need to have completed the Cabin Fever quest, and must have a witchwood icon to fight them Dagganoths Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 70 and 120 Top Drops: Half key, shield left half, clue scroll (level 2) What to bring: Bring your regular slayer fighting gear and your cannon and cannonballs. Set it up in the middle of the room. It is a multicombat zone, so be careful. Bring lots of food as it is likely you will use it all up. do not bring your guthans. Method: Set your cannon up in the middle of the room. It is a multicombat zone, so be careful. This is really fast using the cannon, and takes a maximum of 20 minutes to complete. For slayer, thats very good. To access this area you must complete the horror from the deep quest. It is the basement under the lighthouse. Dark Beast Slayer level: 90 Slayer exp: 220 Top Drops: Dark bow, dragon spear, dragon med, shield left half What to bring: As with the black demons you should bring full initiate or proselyte, cannon + cannonballs, prayer pots and some food. They hit high, and when not wearing decent armour they hit often. Method: Set your cannon up anywhere and turn protect from melee on and start attacking. when your prayer reaches 5, drink some of your prayer pots. Also you must have started MEP2 to access this area. Dust Devils Slayer level: 65 Slayer exp: 105 Top Drops: Dragon chain, dragon spear, shield left half What to bring: Regular slayer fighting gear, face mask, lots of food, tele runes and alching runes. Method: There really is no method for these. Head to the smoke well (must have started DT) and start attacking them. Watch out as they hit often, and do not unequip you face mask, otherwise they will hit constant 14s on you and lower your stats. Elves Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 108 (Lord Iorworth's camp or Lletya) Top Drops: Green d'hide armours, shield left half, dragon spear What to bring: Either bring regular melee gear or ranging gear. Also bring guthans. Method: The elves in Lletya can be safe spotted behind the bench. The ones in Lord Iorworth's camp can be safe spotted behind the chairs near the tents, or behind the barricade. Fire Giants Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 111 Top Drops: Dragon med, dragon spear, shield left half What to bring: Either bring regular melee gear or rangers gear, and bring guthans if meleeing. Also bring some food. Method: The recommended place to fight these is the Waterfall. You must have completed the waterfall quest. You need glarial's amulet in your invent to enter. There are two rooms which have fire giants. One you can safe spot behind some chairs, and the other you can safespot behind a table or near the entrance to the room. When you reach half health, heal with your guthans if using melee. Gargoyles Slayer level: 75 Slayer exp: 105 Top Drops: Granite maul, black mystic top, dragon spear, sheild left half What to bring: There is a safespot in the gargoyle room behind a cumbled wall. Bring ranger gear if you like, or regular melee gear. Bring guthans if meleeing. you need a rock hammer as well. Use it on them when they are on very low health. Method: Safespot behind the wall or fight them with melee, and heal with guthans when you reach half health. Use the rock hammer on them when they are on very low health. They hit often, so be careful. Greater Demon Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 87 Top Drops: Rune full helm, shield left half, dragon spear What to bring: Mage gear, ranger gear or melee gear, as well as guthans if meleeing, and cannon for all three types. Method: Greaters are very good as all three forms of combat are effective on them. There is a safespot in the Brimhaven dungeon area for mages and rangers. You can set your cannon up and attack multiple greaters whilst attacking one yourself. If meleeing the cannon will speed up killing the greater. Switch to guthans when you reach half health. Hellhounds Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 116 Top Drops: Clue scroll (level 3) What to bring: Ranger gear or melee gear, cannon and guthans, and some food. If you are safespotting you may also bring a halberd. Method: If meleeing directly use your guthans when you reach half health, and if ranging or halberding, use the safespot at the bottom of the room. It is the most effective one. Best place to fight them is Taverly dungeon. Jellies Slayer level: 52 Slayer exp: 75 Top Drops: Shield left half, dragon spear, clue scroll (level 3) What to bring: Bring good range protection gear such as void or d'hide. Bring lots of food and some tele and alching runes. Method: If you wish not to be harmed by them use protect from melee. Though their attack is magic based, protect from melee is the prayer that protects you from them. They are famous for dropping level 3 clues more commonly then any monster on RS. Kalphite Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 90 (kalphite soldiers) Top Drops: Shield left half, dragon spear What to bring: Bring your guthans, as well as your cannon and some food. Bring antipoison as well, for when you've finished your task. Method: Go to the center of the room and set up your cannon. It is a multicombat zone so be careful. Eat when there is an emergency (when guthans doesn't heal). One of my favourite tasks, as it is quick and good exp. Located in the Kalphite lair. Lesser Demons Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 79 Top Drops: Rune med helm, shield left half, half key What to bring: Mage gear, ranger gear or melee gear, as well as guthans if meleeing, and cannon for all three types. Method: Lessers are very good as all three forms of combat are effective on them. There is a safespot in the Karamja volcano area for mages and rangers. You can set your cannon up and attack multiple lessers whilst attacking one yourself. If meleeing the cannon will speed up killing the lesser. Switch to guthans when you reach half health. Nechryaels Slayer level: 80 Slayer exp: 105 Top Drops: Rune boots, shield left half, dragon spear and are notably good for rune armour and weapons drops What to bring: Bring regular melee gear, and guthans OR just bring your guthans. Bring some food and alch and tele runes. Method: Whilst fighting these, they will summon death spawns. These are weak, however it is multicombat and they all attack you at once (not the nechs, the nechs are unaggressive). If you are afraid just bring your guthans and a lot of food, however if you feel you can take them just bring regular gear + guthans and little food. Spiritual Mages Slayer level: 83 Slayer exp: 75 Top drops: Dragon boots, shield left half, dragon spear What to bring: Bring a zamorak item that you can wear, to prevent many monsters piling on you. Also bring good mage protection and some prayer pots and good food as well. Method: Zamorak Spiritual mages are the particularly favoured spiritual mage. Prayer when needed and eat as well. Beware of other monsters attacking you though. Located in the God Wars Dungeon. Suqahs Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 106 Top Drops: Clue scroll (level 3), dragon spear, shield left half What to bring: Depending on which suqah you choose to fight. If you choose to fight the suqahs with shields, bring good mage protection, such as dhide or void, and if you want to fight the melee ones bring regular melee gear + guthans and some food. Method: The magic suqahs are more dangerous as they have a maximum hit of 18, use water wave on you and freeze you for 5 seconds. Be careful when fighting these ones. The melee ones have a lower max hit. Trolls Slayer level: N/A Slayer exp: 90 (mountain trolls level 69) Top Drops: Dragon spear, shield left half What to bring: Bring range gear or melee gear with guthans and some food. also bring lots of alching runes and some tele runes. Method: You can safespot behind the tents on the troll montain (just above the Burthorpe Palace). If you choose to use melee, switch to guthans when at half health. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well now that the good monsters are done, I'm going to go through some monsters I recommend skipping (not required though): * Metal dragons * Green-black dragons * Kurasks * Turoths * Abberent Spectres * Infernal Mages * Skeletal Wyverns *For the metal dragons and dragons, they just take too long and especially for the metal dragons you need a lot of supplies. *For Kurasks and Turoths, they take ages to finish because you need to use a leaf bladed spear or broad arrows. *Aberrent spectres and infernal mages hit too high and too often, and use mage attacks so if you switch to guthans they start hitting on you like crazy. *Skeletal wyverns freeze you and take awhile to kill. All of these tasks become easier at higher levels (115+) but until then it is recommended to skip them, unless you want to get good drops (metal dragons). All other tasks that haven't been covered are decent, theyre not great buy they're not awful either. Now to cover the next part of my guide. Getting Around When slaying you will go all over the RS map. To get around the quickest it is recommended you have the lunar spellbook equipped and thus must have completed the Lunar Diplomacy quest. To use this spell you will need 67 magic. The reason why you need lunar is mainly because of the NPC contact spell. Also it offers a variety of teleports such as fishing guild, port khazard, waterbirth island, moonclan island, Ourania altar and Barbarian outpost. Since you won't have access to regular teles it is recommended you have 3-4 portal chambers in your poh to cater for other teleports, such as Camelot, Ardougne, Varrock, Falador, Lumbridge, Canifis, Yanille etc. Also the location of your house is important. You can choose where it goes, as most of the locations are important. Brimhaven is a good spot for greater tasks, fire giants and metal dragons, and also black demons. Pollnivneach is good for dust devils, pyrefiends, crocodiles and many other desert animals. Rellekka is good for dagganoths, basilisks, trolls, pyrefiends, turoths, kurasks, jellies etc because it is near the Slayer dungeon. There are other good spots, but it all depends on which tasks you prefer to skip or not. Also to cater to other teleports you may wish to invest in some teletabs. These will be needed a lot if you wish to gain the quickest exp while training slayer. It is also reccomended you have several glories, combat bracelets, duelling rings and game neclaces and elf tele crystals. All of these + the other things above will ensure the fastest possible way to reach your task monsters. Set ups These are common and popular set ups which people use when slaying: Melee *Full bandos, dragon boots, whip, dragonfire shield, fury, firecape/skillcape or godsword *Fighter torso, rune legs/dragon/torags legs, berserker helm, glory/fury, fire/skill cape, whip, rune defender *Full guthans, fury/glory, dragon/rune boots, fire/skill cape, barrows gloves Ranged *Full karils, ranger set, fire/skill cape, fury/glory, dark bow/crystal bow/msb *Full black d'hide, archer helm/robin, skill/fire cape, fury/glory, crystal/msb/ crossbow, god book * Void knight top+bottom, void ranger helm, dorgeshuun crossbow, prayer book Magic *Full ahrims, slayer staff, infinity boots + gloves, fury/glory, skill/fire cape *Full mystic, fury/glory, water/air/earth/lava staff There are many more and these are just few of them. Use them if you can afford them. Most of them are untradeable items or expensive items. Also if anyone has pictures of these set ups, would they be ever so kind as to post pictures? I'll give you full credit for them :P Summary In summary this is what you'll need for the fastest slayer exp: Quests Lunar Diplomacy, started MEP2, Priest in Peril, Cabin Fever, Dwarf Multicanon, Waterfall quest, Horro from the deep, Regicide Skills 43+ prayer 67+ magic 65+ ranged 70+ melee stats 70+ hp Items Full guthans Cannon + cannonballs Melee set up (for regular fighting) Ranger set up (for regular fighting) Sharks/monkfish Teletabs Teleportaion jewellery The method is very expensive, however if you power your way to 99 you'll get a lot of good drops, and will become rich. Thanks for reading my slayer guide. I will make changes to it in the future, as my slayer journey progresses, and if there's any thing that hasnt been covered that you would like to see in the guide, just post it :P FAQ What does the black slayer mask do? It increases your strength when fighting a monster during your slayer task by 15% Are metal dragons worth killing? Only at higher levels. They take a long time to kill and use up a lot of supplies, but occassionally you will get a good drop. I may add these to the list of good slaying monsters. I heard there is a way to stop your cannon from decaying, is this true? Yes it is. When you get the message that your cannon has nearly decayed, pick it up and place it down again and it is reset to its original health. I died whilst my cannon was out, what do I do? Talk to Nulodian at the entrance to the dwarven mines. How long will 99 Slayer take? Most people take 10-12 months, however if you no lifed it it could be achieved in 6-8 months. Wachtwoord
I'd never suggest to skip spectators. Not only are they amazing xp (better then anything else in the slayer tower due to the salve ammy (e)), but their herb drops are amazing, you easily get all the herbs back for the p pots and pure sets and quite a lot extra. Also don't use karils unless you are hit by magic attacks (so use them for bloodvelds, jellies, etc.), just use black d hide instead (or armadyl if you're rich). Don't bring a cannon for bloodvelds, you can't put up a cannon in the slayer tower. You could mention the dharock method for dust devils. The smoke constantly keeps your hp at 1-2, so that's perfect for dharock. Use a cannon at fire giants. Those were my comments, I'm only a pretty low slayer though, maybe there is a lot more wrong. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+

ghjkl
Wow almost as good as Axe Man Jacks, maybe include a bit more info on burthope tasks?
Matok
Though you had good intentions and took your time to write a detailed guide you made some terrible mistakes there, therefore this guide is currently 2/10. * Black mask (recommended but not required) Required !!!! Abyssal Demons Sharks are a bit too much,lobs/monks will be ok too. Bloodvelds Cannon? as mentioned earlier, you cant use a cannon in the slayer tower. What about the very popular methods of ranging/maging them? You should also mention the fact that those can also be slayered at the GWD which is always a nice place to visit. Elves You could mention the praying technique at Lletya. Fire Giants Waterfall? too crowded. why not the Brimhaven dungeon? Suqahs Ever considered using a cannon on those? this is the best cannonable task imo (maybe except Dagganoths). Spiritual Mages Bring sara +zammy items and you wont need any food or prayer. backstab them while they fight zammy NPCs in the main hall. For Kurasks and Turoths, they take ages to finish because you need to use a leaf bladed spear or broad arrows. with a good range level those are easy. Kurasks are a lousy droppers but Turoths are gr8 seeds and clue droppers. *Aberrent spectres and infernal mages hit too high and too often, and use mage attacks so if you switch to guthans they start hitting on you like crazy. ever tried switching to guthan against Aberrents :shame: Abberants are one of the most popular slayer monster around (perhaps too popular), plenty of herbs, seeds and clues. bones to peaches works quite good with infernals. and what about spiritual warriors/ranges ? rangers are a must burthrope, but warriors deserves some attention... You gotta a lot of work which most of it already been done by Axe Man Jack in his slayer guide.
Harrington
Not a bad guide, but it's still got a long way to go in regards to Axe Man Jack's ultimate slaying guide. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=412 ... ght=beasts

justcallmedaddy
Good guide, but it woul two times better with pictures for each monster. And Burthrope Abberant Spectres? no, no , no. :shame: Their ranarr drops cover your prayer potion costs and then some, lava battlestaffs, and black mystic bottoms. Plus other good herbs/seeds, and on top of all that they are eas to kill!
mega_vegeta6
Black mask gives 15% bonus in attack and strength while fighting a slayer assignment. Neitznot helm is the best helm in the game(with a reasonable price, also the str/pray bonus maks up for any def) so why not mention it ?

whodey
Why would you bother writing a guide covering things you've never done? You have clearly copied other's information, and most of that you have still got wrong. (-1)/10. (Minus points for incorrect info)
privatewheatthin
You marked Aberrant Spectres and Infernal Mages as bad? These are both easy and are good droppers. You mention that you get hurt if you guthan aberrants. Well to tell you the truth, YOU CAN'T GUTHAN ABERRANTS. Without a nosepeg you cannot fight them. Period. As for infernals, you shouldn't need to use guthans at all during a task of even 199 of them. They're easy! Above all, your guide seems biased towards the fact that you have probably not tried many of the monsters you have voiced in your guide. I suggest you go back and try fighting these monsters again. As for dragon tasks, Iron and Steel dragons are easy, and drop good items. Black dragons are garbage however.
