Runescape Iron Dragons/Visage Help!

Well I plan on doing metal dragons especially iron dragons, after losing full rune twice...in barrows with the lag....I have about 3 mil in items which is a whip and torag set, I can cut mages also. I have decided to use melee with protestyle armor, but am not sure if this is least expensive. i looked in internet and some said mage was more expensive while others melee with prayer pots. So help me decide which is cheaper-

My stats are-

Atk- 78

Str-77

Def-75

Magic- 80

Hp-79

I could train but I really am interested in your opinion on what i asked for. I will ONLY cut about 300 mages so i should have 300k or so on. One MORE thing-

I saw a prayer bonus item named- STOLE- which give +10 bonus now what you guys think if i can afford this should i get this or stay with my amulet of glory, cause +10 is lot and could save me p pots on long run.

I have protesyle armor btw if using melee which i think i will, i just need to know.

I'd melee them... that's actually what I am doing right now (slayer task :P ).

I find maging them to take to long and expensive. If you melee you atleast break even every trip, the pots don't cost that much (specially not when you grow the herbs yourself). If you mage them you need a rare drop to cover the cost of the runes, you don't got that problem with melee.

I do suggest having a prayer lvl of 60+ and offcourse the best pray boosting gear you got to avoid wasting ppots.

I'm not sure how effective melee would be at your level. But you're welcome to give it a shot.

But a precaution: if you've lagged out and died at Barrows more than once, be careful at Irons because you can lag and have your prayer or anti pot run out, which would be a guaranteed instant death since you're already in melee range.

Melee won't be very effective at all without slayer mask/slayer assignment, kinda like what narb above me said. I'd go with ranging or maging, preferably maging firebolt with chaos gaunts.

Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now.

Use holy symbol for higher prayer bonus from necklace... ;)

I'd definitely use fury or glory ammy... remember how often u hit is just as important as ur prayer bonus... u can have all the prayer in the world but with his relatively low melee stats it would be wise to try to get a good combination of attack/prayer bonus plus with glory ammy u got a teleport that doesnt waste an extra spot....

i usually go with

head- zammy mitre

cape- zammy cloak (unless u got fire or a skill trimmed)

neck- glory ammy/fury ammy (i dont lag so i just use home tele cause they arent aggressive after like 20 mins

chest- proselyte

legs- proselyte

shield - antidrag

ring - ring of wealth

gloves- barrows

boots- drag boots

wep- whip and poisoned drag dagger (use dagger's special)

for inv i usually take 3 super att 3 super str. 4 antifire, 905 gp, an iron axe, drag dagger and the rest prayer pots ( 15 i think?) that way i usually run out of everything about the same time.... i drink supers when i drink antifire

God stoles are Lvl3 tt rewards and (guthix ones at least) cost about 70k on the GE. I should know, i bought one they discovered i couldn't wear it lolz, only 54 prayer (60 prayer to wear in ammy slot)

Hmmm....

I need a new siggy, get round to doing it later.

Probably.

Again I ask how many iron dragons can i kill per trip if i take about 14-15 per trip, with my stats?
'

If you take 14-15 Anti Fire pots?

BTW you shouldn't be meleeing with those stats, stick to maging or ranging if you have 75+ range.

Back to the anti-fires. If you have 14-15 and are maging them with fire bolts there no telling how many you can kill but I can tell you your trip will last for about 15+ hours. Ranging you would get a little less kills but still a 15+ hour trip.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

With mage you want to be using fire bolt with Chaos Gaunts. (if you DONT have chaos guants DONT consider maging)

Also with mage no p pots are needed. Just Anti-Fire pots. I personally like to bring 4 or 5 anti-fire pots and keep the bones I get. That way I can make something out of the trip. If you don't get a d item at least the bones can help rune costs. Most people like to load their invent with pots though, and they don't collect the bones (at least no right away)

About 3-4k casts of Fire Bolts (1 chaos rune 3 Air rune and 4 Fire runes per cast) will last for 5 anti-fire pots so if you are bringing 15 then 9-12k casts will last you the whole trip.

Thats 9-12k casts PER TRIP. IF you have 15 anti-fire pots. If you are just using 4-5 then 3-4k casts will last that trip.

ummmmm... No?

Im at steel/irons right now

1 dose lasts for ~ 5 min 50 seconds

which is 350 seconds

you do 1 cast every 2.5 seconds so you get about 120 mage casts

4 doses is 480 casts per a pot

so with 10 pots you can do around 5k casts

with 5 you can do around 2.5k
