Player Mods and Jagex?

seaking002

Recommended Posts

I was wondering recently why Jagex asked all the Player mods in RuneScape for their personal info such as e-mail address, phone number etc. If they refused to grant this information Jagex would remove their powers...

Anyone know whats up with this, some sort of orginization system?

Edit: Sorry I can't provide adamant proof for this at the moment, seeing as how I have the picture of evidence from a p-mod on my other computer. If this thread manages to stay alive untill tomorrow i will be able to supply this evidence.

I'm pretty sure this is top-secret player-modlike information. :-$

Anyway, the only thing I can think of would be to be able to track you down if you abuse powers. I mean, that crown in game, you could get a little kid to do anything, including tell you where they live "for the record of their account".. and if a p-mod just happens to be a bad person... :shame: They have some info to send the police out.

I reported it because dealings between JaGEx and their mods should remain private. If they wanted people to know about it, they would make a post about it on their site or on their forums.

Right. I mean, heaven forbid anyone should actually find out what's going on behind the Runite Curtain.

This could prevent a lawsuit on them in the future. Besides, rules are meant to be broken. :-w

And the Runite curtain is in place for a reason, removing it might be bad.. Seriously, if everyone knew all the secrets of the pmod team, they'd know where all the secret pmod parties are and invade them. :ohnoes:

Not really.. If they don't speak out about this, Jagex will be free to do what they want whenever they want.

Anyway, I'm doubtful that it's true unless there's some form of significant evidence. If they are doing it, I'm sure at least some Player Moderators would have spoken up, wouldn't they? As long as they aren't freely distributing that information to third-parties, then it's fine. They aren't breaking anything.

P.S. I would have given them that information if it was truly them. Maybe they're doing it so you'll be able to recover your account easier?

I can confirm that an ex-Player-Mod had informed me about this about a month ago. I can't name my source, as I'm pretty sure mods can be banned for disclosing top-secret info. She immediatly revoked her mod powers.

She said that they will be sending something to player mods via postal mail to confirm the address. She also said that player mods are expected to see more powers coming through soon. :ohnoes:

I'll send a privacy concern message to Jagex about this. See if I can get some answers about it.

What? Why? Hang on a second here...

What's going on? I don't understand? They asked all p-mod for e-mail adresses and such info?

Uhm sorry, im confused since they state that such thing is against the rules...

Maybe Jagex and their "trusted" players are in a secrect pact/conspiracy?

You'll probably get an auto reply with basic info about player mods

Either that, or an actual reply denying everything or avoiding the question and saying that info regarding player moderators is top secret. #-o

.

Edit: Also, whats so important? They can find out a lot these things when you pay for membership, and giving the info seems (from what's been said) to be mostly voluntary.

It wouldn't be against your Guidelines to say if they are keeping that information private? If not, please clarify that. That's all we want to know. We don't need to know why, only if they are actually invading moderator privacy.

They specifically stated that it's ok to share this with the rest of the community. It's in the pinned Q&A topic Abe803. It's ok, this topic isnt breaking any rules.

I take back what I said.
