tameelf
was a great update i got ring first extra places to tele to sumona being great tele spot half way tho the deasert. then i used points to wipe warped terrorbirds from my tasks . iv since banned all i am allowed thats 4 beasts .and got the helm i have no intrest in runes or arrows so that leaves me only exp to use my points on and 400 points for 10k slayer exp is not really worth it. whats your feelings on 400 points for 10k slayer exp 87 dureil tasks completed burrrppp
RyderJ
Just got my helmet the other day, and I think I'll learn how to make rings next. Can someone list the teleports it has?
Jholm93
I personally haven't completed too many tasks (going on 27 I believe - so I have 3 blacklists and a few spare points), but I looked into it and it really doesn't look like all that good of an investment. Yeah, sure, I will probably go out and get the ability to make it after I get off my 4th blacklist, but until then, I could care less. There are really only three tasks that need special headgear: banshees, abberrant spectres, and dust devils. Banshees and abberrant spectres are undead, so a salve amulet (e) + the special headgear would be better than slayer helmet + fury. I'm not saying the slayer helmet wouldn't benefit against banshees and spectres, it provides slight more defence bonuses and it makes you look cool. That leaves dust devils, and I am not spending 400 points to benefit one task when I can eliminate four tasks. Then there's the defence bonus. If you are getting hit so much during a slayer assignment that you think that a defence bonus similar to a rune full helmet will significantly help you, maybe you should reconsider what slayer master you are using. Convenience is also included when you get a slayer helmet. You have all of the slayer headgear packed into one, so you could go straight to dust devils or abberrant spectres from Sumona. Although, I prefer to bank and get out the proper weapons and inventory to kill those. I s'pose you could use the magic carpet to the Shantay Pass and back, but it isn't providing the motivation to get it before blacklists. All in all, it is benefitial to get, but it should not be your #1 priority of Slayer rewards.

With 99 strength wearing nothing but the salve ammy (e) (since nose peg offers no str bonus) you're max hit is 13, wearing nothing but a slayer helm and an ammy of fury you're max hit would be 14. Do a little research first mmkai? [blingkachi50]

The extra defence can make the difference between being able to rely totally on your bunyip, or not. So please dont make assumptions about somebody being nooby when 30+ defence bonus DOES matter. About blacklisting, I really dont know what to blacklist. Tried terrorbirds with a guide, and they were actually pretty good. Steel drags? Nice mage xp i have to get anyway. Iron drags, guess I'll hope for a visage while meleeing. Wyverns? Got granite legs in my first trip, but I might consider blocking those. Have yet to try scabarites, but I heard they are pretty good too, if you now what you are doing; A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h! Have yet to try scabarites, but I heard they are pretty good too, if you now what you are doing; Scarbarites are pretty quick and easy, the KB says you get 130-200 with Duradel, but I only got about 70 which I breezed through. Although you need to make sure you keep your wits about you, they can hit quite a lot! I blacklisted Warped Terrorbirds and Skeletal Wyverns because I feel like they are more hassle than what they are worth. I'm going to drop Hellhounds I get tons of clues anyway. I think I'll probably drop Steel Dragons too, I was originally going for Black Demons but I love the amount of experience I get from a task. Still haven't got a slayer helm just yet, need another 90 points now, hopefully no obstacles will get in my way this time around, I love the fact that having one basically opens up a new area to swiftly rack up Aberrant Spectre kills, the defence bonuses which can be very handy for most melee assignments, and the fact it saves up a bit of bank space too. x_bow80
I like it, although now that i spent the points on it, the first task i got was steel drags :wall: I think it will be worth it in the long run. 99 Pics - Range, Defence, HP, Attack, Magic, Strength, Cooking

Vincent
it's worth it. the black mask was ALWAYS worth it and more so. this update to the black mask and the new dungeon are fine additions to the game and if you train slayer that is the helmet you should wear. period. i'll add, the other things you can learn are also well worth it. and i do recommend, if you can, killing the cave horrors for your black mask because it's a reasonably rare drop but you will get it; it's about as common as rune boots from nechryael. maybe a little more uncommon but not that far from that rate.
