What will happen when the next "mega item" comes out?

a good idea will be a no trade limit rule when a new item comes out. players will get to decide what they want to pay for the item for the next few days after release, and they will monitor every trade that goes through with the item until they put an average of all the prices players have used to buy the item on the ge. of course players can easily be scammed this way so there will be a final confirmation screen after the player presses accept on the second trade screen.

are you sure you want to trade this item for: (insert price)?

yes

no

just to make sure no stupid players are scammed #-o

Yes but it will allow RWT.

Did you think they made the trade limit to make sure no stupid players get scammed?

Ah, but with trades being heavily monitored over the period to determine prices, no doubt they can manage to ban any RWTing.

Hail to The Great Big Penguin in the sky. And Guthix, of course.

When the next item comes out people will moan about how it is the whip/godsword/barrows/omgwtfhaxpewpewzorlazor killer, and then will procede to moan about how high/low it costs.

Then some smart yet greedy merchanters will start junking it, thus resulting in more posts on the Rsof saying OMGZ0RS BAN TEH JUNK TADE PRICE LIEK 2 H1GH!!!111

After that, the price "should" stabilize, after which people will complain about the stabilized price even more.

No witty signatures for me :(

I'm pretty sure that Jagex sets the price at a reasonable amount and allow for no price restriction for a couple of days to allow the players to set the price. Can anyone confirm that?

That's what those liars put on the front page along with the release of the GE.... but they lied.... :wall:

And they wonder why people hate them.

I doubt that the item will be "junk traded", since like another poster stated, CoinShare will ensure that the item always comes in at median range. So that means, regardless of what Jagex sets it to, it will grow/decay like a normal high-end item does.

Zamorakian spears are coinshared too, and I never bothered to keep track of the huge differences between the GE and actual prices(all the cool kids have sara swords).

I'm betting that they will start out at some stupidly low price and then rise as fast as they possibly can, then suddenly plummet...I'm betting if a dragon plate is released it would be in the same league as the red platelegs and full helm AKA useless rubbish that vain people use to show off, so none of that will effect me personally \'

I think the smartest thing Jagex could do with a new expensive item, would be disabling selling it through GE for a certain time and not putting a price limit on it. That way players could eventually set a correct price for the item and the luckiest players, who get the item first, could still make a fortune off it.

What should be happening is Jagex sets limits between 0 gp and 100 million gp initially, and then move each delimiter in by 20% of the difference between the "average selling price" and the edge, until it reaches the normal 5% range.

Of course, that'd never happen.

I see a flaw in it already: Merchants en masse buy this good at 10gp a piece, then trade it off for massive profits.

They could only buy it for that low of a price if someone actually sold it at that price (which would be foolish) and therefore, the price would revolve around completed transactions.

Jagex doesn't want to bring back player to player trading at all, however by keeping the GE as an intermediary then it should stop the threat of rwt.

Notice how many people actually wear the masks? Not many. It's merchants that set the prices Jagex does a fine job it's greedy people who like lots of pixel who seize every single item out there and jack it and force people to buy it at their price or not get it. As far as SGS+AGS they arn't that good it's just merchants jacked up the prices and now they are slowly crashing dropping millions a week. Partyhats well noone buys them throught the GE so the ge can't change the price of them. The only reason 3rd age is so much street price is because those merchants will billions have a ton of them and are holding on to them. Frankly noone buys 3rd age for it's stats because they arn't that good it's just looks and wealth like partyhats used to be.

Basically Jagex sets the prices merchants buy quickly and ruin prices for everyone else. But i'm sure if it's a huge item they'll sit it very high compared to the worthless TT items.

You're an idiot. A complete complete idiot. The animal masks are so high because they're really rare and come from level 2 clues, which nobody does. Ever notice how ranger boots are 5m+ on the GE? Ranger boots are not even that hard to come by if you do a ton of level 2 clues. Animal masks are even more rare than the boots, but yet the GE price is still under 1m for all the masks. You really think 100k for extremely rare items that come from the least done clues is a GOOD JOB? On the FIRST DAY? Come on, man....If "not many" people wear the masks, that should give you a good idea of exactly how rare they are.

Merchants jacked up the prices of SGS and AGS? Too bad those items were OVERPRICED on the GE. The problem was due to a flaw in THE GE because not enough volume of the swords were being traded to drop the price. This is the SAME with party hats. Not nearly enough would ever be traded on the GE due to the small number of them that are actually in the game. This is a GE flaw that we can't sell the items for what they are actually worth.

The reason third age is so much is because ITS PRICELESS. Third age is the rarest armor in the game and the street prices were ALWAYS much higher than what the GE prices are now. Jagex set the prices completely wrong to begin with. Whether or not people buy it for its stats, how is that relevant at all?? People buy it for whatever reason they want to, and they should be able to buy it at the price they want to also.

The Pittsburgh Pirate says it best. I agree. Although, i do have to add, if i did get some 3rd age from a clue i would GE it in seconds. I dont have time to collect billions in junk... i could be skilling. i dont get junk trades. i would do the junk thing if i had any junk lol.
