July 11, 200817 yr Author $100 says the OP is a redneck Anyway, yes because look at what guns did for America. Pay up dude he's apparently Aussie. And redneck is an American term.Hah! How about a low IQ'd poor drunk "lolz i luv 2 shuut tings 4 fun" patriotic moron. Aw i hope you don't think of me like that, I've just been playing call of duty 4 too much. "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel AdamsMy new site. [bETA]

How about a low IQ'd poor drunk "lolz i luv 2 shuut tings 4 fun" patriotic moron. You're thinking of what's known as white trash, not a redneck. If you said that about rednecks down here, you'd be, what's the term? Cruisin' for a bruisin'? Yeah, that. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
July 11, 200817 yr I own several firearms for hunting and whatnot, and I believe that guns should be harder to get, not illegal. By this, I mean that there should be more background checks when purchasing a firearm. Making guns illegal (in the U.S. anyway) won't stop all of the murders, random shootings, and armed robberies. Criminals will continue to find ways to attain weapons and guns illegally, as many of them do now. I guess it's like that saying, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." Hell, here in the U.S. people are assaulted every day with knives, baseball bats, and even cars. If you apply the same principle, all of these things should be banned too, as they can be used to cause harm to a person. We just need more gun-education and safety classes to teach people not to be afraid of firearms and how not to abuse them.
July 11, 200817 yr Well I don't know about australia but in America we have rights including the right to defend ourselves. My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet. These are the times that try mens souls...
July 11, 200817 yr And with rights come responsibility. Many people take their rights and freedom for granted. Ultra Unholy,Hearted Machine...
July 11, 200817 yr Well I don't know about australia but in America we have rights including the right to defend ourselves. Yeah um about that, you can't hurt a robber if he has his back to you or that's a crime. If a robber is trespassing and stealing in YOUR house and he hurts himself he can sue, has happened and they have won. I love this country :wall:. And crime would be reduced without guns but not by much, as said there are bats, knives etc, people can also make their own guns. Also, as said guns shouldn't be illegal (too lazy to find the quote) but obtaining one needs to be a hell lot harder. I'm pretty sure it's not that hard to get one with all the drive-by shootings, gang wars etc. Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....
July 11, 200817 yr http://www.aic.gov.au/publications/cfi/cfi115.pdf So much for the US crime argument. Look from 2002 on. Since then, violent crime has been defined in pretty much the same way in all the countries mentioned. Gun control laws don't necessarily lower the crime rate. Sure, correlation=/=causation. However, if there's no correlation, then causation is exceedingly unlikely. I'm tired of that [cabbage] argument. The looser gun control laws don't mean that the crime rate is higher. Do some [bleep]ing research. If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

July 11, 200817 yr Tougher gun control laws probably won't do much. At least where I am it would be easier for me to get a gun illegally than legally. They should enforce the laws on the books and shut down crooked gun shops. I forget the number but some crazy high number of guns used in crimes come from just a handful of gun stores. July 11, 200817 yr Guns have recently been made legal in Washington D.C. Bye bye, Mr. President Obama (if he wins) So I'm gonna say no. Gun's shouldn't be legal. Like, if a robber breaks in, why does everyone need to rely on guns? Why can't you grab a bat or a pan or a chair or something? Ffs learn to improvise.

I love how everyone thinks that a close ranged weapon with no long ranged use other than being thrown is a good defence against lead propelled by explosives. There is meaning to the phrase "bringing a knife to a gun fight." If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.
July 11, 200817 yr Why would you even want guns legal? You'd be scared to walk out of your front door. There'd be so many gangs and stuff like that. Sure, shooting a BB gun at bottles or something might be fun, but why would you want real guns legal? Come to #tip-it on Swift IRC, if you're cool

There is meaning to the phrase "bringing a knife to a gun fight." Unless you live in a huge mansion, why wouldn't you be able to sneak up on him? After all, most robbers try not to make that much noise when thieving.
July 11, 200817 yr ^^What do you think you are like a secret agent or something? Odds are a robber will have a gun. Are you gonna belly crawl up and snap his neck? Plus any robber who would break into an occupied house is probably on meth. Why do people assume is gonna be sone guy in a zebra striped shirt and zorro mask. My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet. These are the times that try mens souls...
July 11, 200817 yr Why would you even want guns legal? You'd be scared to walk out of your front door. There'd be so many gangs and stuff like that. Sure, shooting a BB gun at bottles or something might be fun, but why would you want real guns legal? What? Around where I live, guns are legal and easy to get and I am perfectly safe. I have three guns mounted on my wall in my room, several of my neighbors have guns and there is practically no crime. Honestly, when people are armed criminals are so scared of getting shot that crime generally goes down. The last time a house in my neighborhood was broken into, the burglar got a face full of buckshot. The statistics of crime just don't support the idea that somehow more guns = more crime. Look at the link thekiller posted. In most of the US just about any type of gun can be bought from a store with nothing more then a background check. There, the per capita violent crime rate is lower then in Australia and especially the UK, where guns are extremely hard to get legally. It won't lower crime rates, but the succession of them, not as easy to rob a bank with a knife as opposed to a gun. Obviously you have not read the news stories then. In the UK, where guns are practically banned, people are consistently killing each other with knives; an object any sane person would agree cannot be just banned. For robbing stores, airsoft guns that look similar to real guns have been used to great effect to rob stores. Hell, there has been several incidences of people killing each other with cheap wallhanger Katanas. Humans are just too crafty and determined to kill each other. Hell, with some basic tools, some metal pipe from the local hardware store and some instructions available on the internet as well as a few free hours of time you can make your own rifles and ammo out of household objects. I'm even considering making one of these guns for a project of mine. Regulating inanimate objects is just not a useful way to reduce crime. Tougher gun control laws probably won't do much. At least where I am it would be easier for me to get a gun illegally than legally. They should enforce the laws on the books and shut down crooked gun shops. I forget the number but some crazy high number of guns used in crimes come from just a handful of gun stores. Only about 1% of the guns used in crimes in the US are legally owned. The rest are stolen, smuggled or are otherwise illegally obtained. It is unknown to see fully automatic weapon used in a crime. Guns have recently been made legal in Washington D.C. Bye bye, Mr. President Obama (if he wins) guns have always been legal in DC. It was handguns that were not legal, and that ban was useless anyway. Whats the point when you can go to your local drug dealer and pick up an illegal gun for 100$ off the street, or take a 5 minute drive down to Virginia and buy one legally?
July 12, 200817 yr There was recently a robbery attempt in a pizza parlor, the gunman was shot by the clerk and died. Now let's see, who would we have rather die, a good person living in the community or someone who robs pizza parlors. I know if guns weren't legal at all, it would have never happened, but people are still going to find ways to get illegal guns. Link
July 12, 200817 yr It's a good point, but even a delinquent like that wouldn't deserve to die for that. Having the cashier shoot the kid in self defense still wouldn't be necessary if these gun control programs were pulled off a little better. I mean, c'mon. Sure these punks will come back with illegal guns, but it's just a reason to support more police force. We don't need guns so readily available in our society.
July 12, 200817 yr $100 says the OP is a redneck Anyway, yes because look at what guns did for America. Pay up dude he's apparently Aussie. And redneck is an American term.Hah! There are rednecks in QLD so your a bit wrong haha but since he's from NSW your technically right unless he lives up in the north. O:)

So he should have told the robber to hold on a second while he calls the police? If he didn't have a gun he probably would have died. July 14, 200817 yr RyderJ, the two were both grown men. Bahaha. What the hell made me assume it was a kid? Mk, well, death is death. I'm not a particularly anthropic person, but really, shooting to kill doesn't need to happen. Not with the kind of nonlethal technology we have now.
July 14, 200817 yr I know if guns weren't legal at all, it would have never happened, but people are still going to find ways to get illegal guns. Not necessarily. Just because it's illegal doesn't mean you can't get it. It doesn't mean it's even hard to get. Internet Marketing For Newbies
July 14, 200817 yr I remember in a pub just down the road from my house, a armed response unit raided the place because someone reported that there was a guy with a shotgun there threatening people. Never EVER play with guns or things that look like guns. Unless you want to get shot by a copper in a kevlar jacket weilding a sub-machine gun...
July 14, 200817 yr I wouldnt make guns totally illegal but but gun control could help the world a lot (of course i'm speaking about America.) The gun is the worst thing mankind has ever invinted. Guns are easy to get, easy to use, and easy to kill someone with. Ponies!
