Greatsilverwyrm
I voted Windows simply because that's what I use on a daily basis and am most farmiliar with. However, I'm not opposed in any way to the others. They all have their strengths and weaknesses and etc..
Mercifull
Theres no "better" operating system, it all depends on what you need to use it for and what features you need. For the average user Windows is perfectly fine. If you are running a website and need a server then Linux or some unix based os will work great If you need fast rendering for graphics or video editing then Macs are far better than the rest. *refuses to vote as the question cannot be answered in a simple poll* Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. That, and you didn't even bother to describe the operating systems correctly... "Apple" is not an OS. It's the company that makes Mac OS operating systems. Then there's the fact that Linux and unix are fairly similar, but cannot easily be compared to windows, seeing as windows comes with a window manager which can't easily be changed, while Linux and Unix have several window managers available (GNOME and KDE being the most universal). So basically, you just asked us to compare a kernel + window manager to a company, to a core kernel, to another core kernel. I'm sure that you should be able to realize that that isn't really going to work...
nekuruulib
I prefer linux, i have been using gentoo for 2 years now and i really don't want to even see windows anymore, i can play, run my mailserver/ftp, remotec with my router etc, windows is not as stable and well, i hate Graphical interface, terminals > * : p What i like about linux: stable, good memory managment, easy-to-use?(:D), games( I play rs2, ET, q3, gta3 on my linux box ) Cons: none? Pyro
I prefer Windows, in this case XP. It's stable. When it isn't, it is usually because of sloppily coded 3rd-party applications. Not always, but usually. It can be made fairly secure, and as long as you keep up with patches it is no way near as vulnerable as people make it out to be. Of course, no system is ever safe, but you get my drift. It is also very easy to use, and has graphical interfaces for just about anything you need to do. I also like the shell, even though it can be a bit slow at times. That said, it's not an ideal system. It's not very effective for low-end servers, and it doesn't have quite as many options for configuration as Linux/BSD. Hence, different systems have different uses. In my opinion, all the "Windows sucks, I only use it because I have to" attitudes that are running rampant in this day and age are pathetic. If you prefer another system, that's cool, but most people simply jump on the anti-Microsoft bandwagon because it's the "haxxor" thing to do. So yeah, my favourite workstation system is Windows. It may have some flaws, but I've never had any reason to want to switch to another system. That said, everyone should test other systems as well. Who knows, you might find a system that suits you better.
PDJ
for my needs, i much prefer windows, primarily because ive been using windows for two thirds of my life so i generally know what i'm talking about when it comes to windows.. where i have to clue when it comes to mac or unix/linux based systems that set aside.. my brother had a mac laptop from his school last year, and i saw the kind of stuff he could do on it... it was very nice, but heh not my kinda thing :D [02] -RuneScript- *** [ END ]: You gained 444,384 prayer exp in 5secs. zonda
Windows, and like pyro said... XP. There are alot of features on it that I could do without but it is easy enough to disable them... Also, most games are made for either windows and linux or windows and mac. Some times just windows but very rarley will it be for all 3. I being heavy on gaming like windows. I also like that there are a very wide varity of programs that are windows compatible ranging from microsoft office, media players, video and picture editing, music editors, you name it... Any user can sit down at a computer running windows and do something. Even if it is the most basic stuff. I really like how you can customize alot of the features on XP, but I hate how some things are forced on you as well. That is a whole nother story though. Windows is good for the average user. I like it best and I am not saying that from a biased point of view. On a side note, I dissaproove of most of what microsoft has to say. If you know their history and have seen reports of what they want to do in the future I don't see how you wouldn't agree. Monopoly? Nah... your thinking too small. Try dictatorship  ... kingjoe2002
OS X Definitely. Windows is popular but very unstable and has more holes than a swiss cheese. Linux is good but they are more for techies. Unix blah lol wana run a DB server? :P OS X on the other hand is Unix based, user friendly, runs very lean and generally comes with better hardware.
