We hit a frickin deer!

Featured Replies

So here we are minding our own business, driving back from this church we were at. Me and my friends were in the back just talking, I was looking around in front. I notice a deer walk onto the rode. I think "That looks like a smart deer, he'll turn back into the woods", but noooooooo.

This deer runs out onto the road right in front of us. Jeff (the van driver) brakes slightly, the deer slams into the van hood leavin a dent, then he gasses it which in turn tossed the deer into the air. It went up at least 20 feet while spinning and cutting flips the whole time. It flew out into the woods and when we went to see if we killed it we couldnt see it.

This was just so awesome and crazy I had to share it with you guys. :P

It happens all the time around here, but it's more annoying than anything. They really tear up people's cars.

Yeah well i've never experienced running into a deer. Yes deer r very stupid and we've had a couple of clsoe calls but nothing yet. A person at my school's mom ran into a deer and it messed up the grill of the van.

I guess ur lucky that it just dented the hood and didn't do anything else.... unless you didn't tell us everything, but hey whats it matter

  • Author

Oh my bad i forgot to post what happened to the van. It just dented the hood slightly and knocked the glass out of the side mirror. It was a small doe and probably only weighed 80 pounds. Another reason for the airtime it got =P This has never happened to me and Ive never witnessed it so it was pretty sweet :P

Would be more fun if you guys hit a moose instead and it smashes into the wind shield, instantly killing all you guys.

haha...Shippou..The damages only cost about $50. The hood can easily be popped back out and a replacement mirror is probably around $30...

And ya Im sry that people you know died from things like this and that youve had car damage, but nothing like that happened in my story so I

dont really care.

We all came out fine and had a nice laugh about launching a dear 20 feet in the air, which has got to be one of the funniest things Ive seen in my life

Aussie Aussie Aussie,

:D

This could be due to the fact of not being in any of your situation(s) before, but I find it slightly unnerving about the aspect of launching deer off into teh woods and then worrying about car costs :o Maybe cause I havn't experienced any serious damage of any kind from animals but I just found this thread kind of funny

I don't think I'd laugh, causing an animal pain like that (I think I can asume it must hurt when you're thrown 20 feet in the air). I've never hit a deer, but I think I'd call a "deer ambulance" or whatever, to help the poor thing. I can't understand how you only talk about money and injuries you can get, instead of the pain the poor thing could be in, if it's still alive of course.

How does this have anything to do with religion? At least we remained optimistic about it.

And about having feeling about if the deer was ok or not....Its just a DEER!!!!!

You have any idea how many deer there are in Illinois? They have absolutely no predators besides us, and they reproduce like no other. People practically pay people to get hunting licenses to get rid of em. We need to keep the wildlife in the wild and off our roads.

I don't see what's so awesome about mutilating an animal, personally.

I realise the accident may not have been possible to avoid, getting pleasure out of it though...scumbag.

SO what? You're just a HUMAN. Nice logic you got there.

 Try hitting a effing huge elk at 50 mph, seeing the the thing leave a HUGE dent in the front of your car, smear it's face against the windshield and break the glass (only large spiderwed cracks it didn't go all the way through) and THEN seeing it get up and run away!! Dumb elk.

It's better then some hunter shooting a deer and not killing it then leaving it to suffer because he's to lazy to track it down and put it to rest. :?

Actually, I don't have an idea of the amount of deers in Illinois, and to be honest, I don't really care. There's a difference between giving an animal a straight headshot AKA instead dead, and hitting it with a car, making it fly trough America. And if you want to keep the wildlife in the wild, and of your road, secure your roads better.

The only ways we could be able to do this is to bring in some new animals that are predators of deer to control their population or truly mutilate them on purpose by hunting. Your award is some tasty venison if you want it. There is rarely anything drivers can do to prevent hitting a deer.

Ya, the driver actually did what he could to try and miss it. But he wasnt gonna swerve off the road and flip the van, seriously injuring all the passengers just to save a stupid deer

And Im pretty sure deer are alot different to humans. So its pretty idiotic to compare the two.

Hah Im now considered a 'scumbag' by at least 1 person on tipit
