A discussion on RuneScape money

I always thought a relatively simple and adaptable way to solve the gold farming/transferring issue would be to use a system similar to other games, mainly like Oblivion's, in which gold is no longer an item than can be dropped, rather it is a permanent part of your inventory. Coins would not have to be banked, it would be null in terms of falling on the ground as a drop, could be carried anwyhere and only the sole owned of the coins would have economic control over them.

This way we could still participate in the various forms of entertainment that have now been controlled to remove the transfer of gold, and the balanced trade could stand(including items) and the transfer of coins would be stopped. The one fatal flaw of this argument may be that JaGEx may want the vary prospect of carrying a large amount of coins to be dangerous.

the huge issue here is regardless of coins being an item or an integreal part of our account you are still going to trade them with other players to aquire items.

So basically your idea will do nothing but slightly altrer the problem becuase rwt would still be able to trade the coins about and players wuld still be able to then use them as they wish

That's all very well but it doesn't solve the aspect of peope purposely dying and dropping items to others; letting themselves get pked or giving away other commodities.

Currently the gp itself isn't the most traded thing in rwit. Due the limits in trades and the bounty hunter, people have now gone into more advanced thing such as duying on a purpose at BH with dirty valuable items, gaining the money on someone else's char or finding ways to transfer through ge.

As a result of the trade limits, your way of limiting the gp's functions would just cause problems to the normal players. It wouldn't stop rwit at all due the fact that in it the methods are totally different.

I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.

there is really no posable way to bring the old back without the return of mass rwt. if there was dont you think JageX would have thaught of it. they put many hours of thaught into what they did, they even knew that they were basicly gambling the whole game away just for the sake of fair play for everyone.

The problem is I'd rather have RWT if it meant we kept gold as it is. I'd rather have gold sitting in my bank getting dusty than an item being a placeholder. I like the fact that whenever I need to buy something, I just go to my bank and pull out some gold to pay for it.

Good idea but it still wouldn't completely stop RWT. Players can still "give" gold coins to others even in small amounts after a purchase was made. Also, I believe the biggest threat really comes from sites that requires your RS name and password.

The only benefits would be if you do not lose any money after you die. Otherwise, I'd like to stick with my money in the bank plxz.

If the economy was changed to one such as this, the market would literally crash.

Part of the game would die lol.

I'm quite happy with the way things are, and don't really feel the need to give people anything over the trade limit etc. :D
