What Should I Do? (delicate situation)

Featured Replies

This morning I got an XBL message. The message was from a really good XBL friend (for those of you who use General Discussion, it's the same friend who hacked me and gave me membership). The message went out to everyone on his friends list that he was sorry for being such a "[bleep]". About an hour later, he sent a message out to all of his friends that he was going to kill himself. He said that everyone hated him and he hated himself. For some reason, only me and another person on his friends list actually cared. The one friend was someone who pretends to be his girlfriend in matchmaking, but they actually kind of like each other so it helped having her there. We got him into a custom game of forge. We talked him out of it, but he was talking through tears. She had to leave afterwards, but I stayed to try and calm him down.

I took him into matchmaking Team Doubles, and aftrer owning for several matches in a row, he seemed normal again. He even went back to his usual routine of making George Bush jokes :twss:

After a while we decided to play some RS. So we logged in and hung out in clan chat for awhile with one of my RL friends. After awhile my computer crashed (though by some miracle, no data was lost) and it took about 10 mins to get back to RS. When I came back, he had logged out but my other friend was still in chat. He said that after I left, he logged out.

What should I do here? If he hasn't killed himself already, I want to try and keep it that way

Get back here so I can rub your butt.

If it's someone you know in real life put him on suicide watch. If it's just some random person there isn't much you can do.

My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet.

These are the times that try mens souls...

you did what you could, and judging from my own cry for help experiences, this is kinda what it is. give this person your care and support, as you seem to have already been doing, and be honest with them. A tactic my family used on me is the, "hey if youre actually gonna do it do it already and stop wasting our time and money, if not come talk to use and we can sort this out."

but your approach seems to be working just fine =D>

I require hugs. Seriously, just give them to me, and youll see your little turtle again.

Also be sure to thank him for the membership if you haven't. That might help ::'

Anyways, BBL OFF TO SLEEP WITH A RACCOON

and also don't trust any websites that give free microsoft points....

but that's a nice thing u did for your friend.. you should give him candy! that would cheer him up!!!!!!! :twss:

Well, if he's only your friend on XBL, then there's a problem. If he's a real-life acquaintance, just go talk to him. Make sure you don't even bring up the subject unless he does - sometimes it just screws people up. Pretend everything's normal, but make sure you're watching out for signs of bad emotion coming up, and just... be comforting. Talk to him about stuff that means something to him, and just be generally positive. I'm not sure there's much else you can do, though a psychiatrist is recommended as well.

Good luck...

Being immature is a part of being mature.

people on runescape always say they're going to kill themselves, because they're attention-seeking losers.

The odds are hes just a prat whos logged off so he can get more attention when he gets back on.

Quit Runescape 30th May 2006.

Thanks to Hawkxs for my signature :)

if this is just someone you dont know irl or very well i agree fully with:

otherwise just hope he logs back on

Even though I wouldn't word it this way, I agree. A lot of people pretend to kill themselves for the attention. There's no way to be sure unless they cause actual physical harm to themselves that can endanger themselves or others indefinately. However, there is a chance that they are going to really kill themselves. So, it's better to try and show that you care. As, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Exactly. I've known him on XBL for a long time and I would rather do something than brush it off as a bluff. The ones that are ignored are usually the ones that succeed.

Re-read my post, because it doesn't sound like you got the whole thing.

Act normal, but deep down try to steer him straight...And you know,be nice.

I know this works because I have a lot of emo friends.I like bully them and throw rocks and all,but I tend to keep my friends alive

so i herd u liek devarts?

If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".

The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".

Amen, brother

Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)

amen Bruder! (german ftw)

I'm invulnerable to everything, except Lenin and Dragoonson.

That's impossible.

I love people.[/hide]

Yeah, as it turns out, ignoring those emo kids is worse for them. Making fun of them gives them a reason to live, you know, writing in their diary or crying or listening to My Chemical Romance.

I can't say I have much advice. Get him a hooker? I doubt he'd want to kill himself after that.

Unless she just wasn't into it, you know how they are.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
